These reviews are making me curious though. The stealth aspect sounds ....fun. Puzzles are....good. Better environments? Hmm....that would be good if true but I'm not a fan of the DA2 art style so I am highly sceptical of that claim.
I suspect it's mainly those who liked DA2 that are reviewing it though, so I too would be interested to hear from more like-minded folks. On the other hand, the reviewer from GI loved DA2 and is not enjoying MOTA....so that's a big signal that it might actually be good.
Out of curiosity, what size is the download for the pc version? Naturally, that's not listed anywhere I could find on the site.

As far as highlights go, I think I liked the hunt the best. There was a lot of humor there, and I didn't even take my sarcastic Hawke the first time around. My second favorite part was probably the last battle - there were some good mechanics there. I thought the stealth component of the quest was great and I loved seeing all those people Hawke knew that were just *perfect* for that kind of gathering.
And while we're on the topic, I thought Hawke's outfit was practical and attractive even if it wasn't very feminine. None of the outfits I've seen for Hawke have been designed to focus on her femininity and that's one of the things I like about them. Just as I don't want my FemShep to be treated as a female first and a hero second, I don't want my FemHawke to get special treatment. But that's just my own opinion, and YMMV
Bottom line: Mark of the Assassin was excellent. So thank you, BioWare, for a DLC that was worth my time and money. I think I enjoyed it just as much as Legacy, if for different reasons.

When I was playing through MOTA it didn't feel like DA2, if that helps. It felt more like Origins because there is a lot of conversations/back story/and overall depth to the story itself then mindless combat. I was luke warm on DA2 but this was worth the ten bucks.craigdolphin wrote...

there was plenty of dialogue, and the stealth mechanics were interesting. Most of the puzzles were very good, but (and this is probably because I missed some important clue) one of them I couldn't work out the "final settings" (must.not.spoil.) until I looked it up.
I felt companions got a bit shafted, but only minorly - they had comments and reactions, and Isabela had a little subquest and Anders had some gold banter, but the focus was very much on Tallis. Which, of course, was the point, so it's not really a criticism. It's still definitely 10 times better than the ME2 DLCs where the companions acted like puppets.
All in all, yeah, play it, it is very good, and definitely different. Overall, if you could only buy one, though, my vote would go to Legacy.

I found DA2 EXTREMELY disappointing..... but it was made bearable with a couple of lovely mods from ishmaeltheforsaken...craigdolphin wrote...

Even with that though, I haven't been able to bring myself to a real replay. (when a new story DLC comes out, I burn through the main game until I feel it's right to play the side-story, skipping all the dialogue, then I play the sidestory and enjoy it)
However, Legacy and Mark of the Assassin were AMAZING. Whether that be because of the sea they find themselves in... or because they really are stand-alone good... I prefer to think the latter.
If you loved Origins, MotA and Legacy are very much a throwback to it, in my opinion. Both really do address many concerns the community has had with DA2.
(MotA even has Elves withOUT godawful make-up!!!)

Haven't bought Mark of the Assassin yet, but F!Hawke's outfit seems to be the biggest complaint so far. This bodes well.
Oh, BTW, totally serious about those thigh-highs. Want.

Likes:
-Tallis, really Felicia Day, aka Veronica from New Vegas did an awesome job with the character. I can't wait to see future DLC with her in it, this DLC hinted towards it.
-Party Banter, Aveline and Isabela were the only ones I brought a long so far and if they're any indication of party banter from the DLC I can't wait to bring other combinations to see the results.
-Sarcastic Male Hawke, The guy who does this voice cracked me up throughout DA2 and Legacy and was no different, I was rolling.
-The fights, even though the whole wave issue with some people I don't mind, I'm happy to say the wave issue here isn't noticeable really.
-Enviroments, They were all very wonderfully detailed. From the vibrant and lush hunting grounds to the very well done orlesian castle inside and out.
-Length, over all I'd say it took me 4-5 Hours to complete which is about double that of legacy. This imo really helps make the 10$ you spend worth it.
-The Cameos, Everyone at the dinner party felt so in place. IMO if you play after completing the game you will get the most of this DLC.
-The Ghasts and Wyverns were hilarious and scary both in their own right.
-puzzles, Puzzles, PUZZLES!!!!! Yes Bioware, YES! Puzzles need to be a staple more in the next DLC.
-Stealth Portion was fun and not too difficult. Once you get the mechanics down being able to distract a guard and Blackjack him later was amusing to see.
Dislikes:
-The Villians, While they had their typical diabolical feel to them and stuff, they perhaps could have used a bit more backstory to flesh out their evilness.
-Lack of a Rogue Perk for being a Rogue Hawke. I honestly was hoping that I would unlock a throwing dagger skill for doing the DLC, but since I didn't I was a little saddened but wuickly got over it.
Overall, I'd give it a 8-9/10 Score and would reccomend it to any DA2 Fan. I honestly wondered how they would top Legacy and I can honestly say in my opinion that they nailed this one out of the park. This of course once again is my opinion, but hopefully it helps whoever reads this to lean towards purchasing MotA if you havent already.

I went into Mark of the Assassin somewhat skeptical; I like Felicia Day very much, but giving her such a large role in the DA universe initially struck me as gimmicky; I'm pleased to say that I was wrong. I like Tallis very much as a character, and Day did a great job voicing her. She hasn't made my list of favorite characters yet, but I'd like to see her again in future games and playing through Mark of the Assassin increased my interest in Redemption tenfold.
The story and characters were solid and entertaining throughout; I particularly liked the fan-service cameos and ME2 in-joke. Though I wish it had been longer, I'm very glad you included a meaningful mini-quest for Aveline; she's one of my favorite characters in the whole series, so I really enjoyed that, especially since I swapped her out for Carver in Legacy. It was also nice to see more content for Anders, even if it was relatively insubstantial. Keep bringing the whole cast back for VO; it may be more expensive, but it makes the DLC much more worthwhile, at least in my opinion.
The stealth mechanic was an interesting addition; it felt a bit awkward, but it did give the DLC's gameplay a unique flavor. Also, puzzles - Legacy made me hope that we'd run into puzzles more often, and it was great to have a few in here; one gripe I have with the series as a whole is that the gameplay is too combat-centric, so it's very refreshing to make progress by doing something other than killing mobs of enemies.
I only have one real complaint about MOTA, and that's the combat; it feels like a step back from Legacy, which is majorly disappointing, as I thought Legacy was how the DA2 base game should have played. In MOTA, it seemed that the spawn waves were as poorly designed as they were in the base game, and the difficulty fluctuated wildly throughout the mission; the Sky Cult was impossible for me on anything but Casual, and some of the battles with those damned cheap-shot Harlequins made me knock it down to Normal.
Overall, I enjoyed the DLC and feel like it was worth the money - and I'm a tightwad who normally skips out on DLC. Legacy had much better combat, but Mark of the Assassin was longer and more satisfying overall; if the next DLC incorporates the best elements of both, I won't hesitate to drop the cash on it.

Oh, and in terms of "criticisms" - the stealth was an interesting device but I used a rogue character and deliberately invested in putting points into "normal" stealth just to be ready for this DLC - and was a little disappointed that it was irrelevent to the new mechanism.

Well, the villain in MotA was not evil in of itself. Simply working for a greater evil. We merely squashed a pawn of theirs. And I use evil lightly as I really doubt they are evil. Just the person in charge being somewhat of a ****.

Yea and Now that I think about it, The Duke only fought you because of Tallis, I wonder how he would have acted if she hadn't rolled along with Hawke and his merry crew of misfits.

We would have slept on bellies of caviar and wine. He invited Hawke for the party, not on any other reason.

Ahh well, for the actual DLC in question, finaly having given up on that accursed floor painting puzzle (whoever designed it needs to be fired, out of a canon, into the sun >__>) i wraped it up, have to say it's definetly the best so far, great length, subtle nuiances & challenge.
Hawke & Talis had alot of great scenes & banter (don't recomend the Fenris & Carver combo though, they were a lil flat together, not too bad sepretly) the final boss fight was pretty much perfect though, nailed it finaly after the lameness of the vanilla games final boss & the postioningly challenged AI of Legacy's final boss
Oh and the stealth sections were handled rather compitently, KO attack had targeting issues though

Loved the colorful setting. The new vistas and color and forestation were all really needed for the DA2 setting.
Dialogue was spot on. Liked the party banter. The companion side quests. Tallis and the Orlesians. Even the cameos, both DA and DA2 were well put.
Like the puzzles. The portrait tile one was too difficult for me personally, but it's always nice to take a break from button/awesome to work a puzzle out.
Loot was good. Nothing really more to say about it. Like the chantry robe option.
Length was good. I felt the price/quantity/quality was all worth it.
As a side note it's always refreshing to see new loading screens specific to DLC. It's not a must have or anything, just a nice touch.
Looking foward to replaying it later with new companions in a different act and taking different dialogue choices.

Just thought to add one more thing - and
I'm totally not gonna go all wild, because this is a clothes complaint,
but please can we have no more new chantry style robes? I'm sure
there's some mages out there who like the chantry, so they probably
enjoy the robes but really one set in that style is more than enough.

You're talking about the set in the vault right? As far as I could tell the hood, gloves and boots were new... I was wondering if it was a bug that the actual robes were rcycled... guess not
