Ok, I'm importing my Mage Warden from DAO into awakening bu when I did my staff disappeared. I checked and it appears that because it was a dlc(warden's keep) it didn't transfer. I tried installing the mod that lets dlc wepons transfer with your character but I couldn't get it to work.
I was wondering if I could find a decent enough staff in the early part of awakening? I'd rather not spend hours trying to figure out why the mod didn't work (I've never used mods on DAO before) but I also don't want to spend the first 50% of awakening staffless.
Any help?

You have no staves in your inventory?
I'd reload the import file (in DAO) and equip a suitable staff, then save .

I never found a staff I liked better than the dlc one so I gave them to party members or sold them. I always kept my inventory to a minimum by selling things or storing it at warden's keep and I never thought I'd need it so i didn't go and get one.

You could steal Anders' staff from him in the beginning and use that until you find something better. It's a Tier 6 item, as I recall. Not great, but it's serviceable. Besides, a TRUE Mage doesn't rely on weapons. He IS a weapon!
