I finally got MotA to install. I did a task manager search of any suspicious processes, and saw one call "EACoreDownloadService.exe". I ended that process, then downloaded the file again in the exact same manner as I had done before. It worked with no hitches.

I still can't download MOTA. Can anyone suggest what I can do? I've tried downloading many times and still cannot complete the download. Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Also, I can't use internet cable, since they're wired to the wireless transmitter on the ceiling and the cable isn't long enough to reach my laptop :(

Added:

I've finally succeeded. On my final attempt, I downloaded
via Internet Explorer browser, selecting 'run' instead of 'save' or
'save as'. However, I'd like to download the file to keep in my external
hard disk as back-up. So I'm still waiting for bioware to fix the
downloading glitches.

I urge all the staffs involved to fix this issue as soon as possible. There might be others who are still waiting for the download to work, and it is not fair to all of us who paid the money for the DLC but not able to download it.

It would have been so much easier to download from illegal sites without paying for the DLC, but I chose to do the right thing and buy the DLC because I want to support Bioware and EA and all the people involved in making DA 2. However, in return, I fully expect that I will be supported in case of something going wrong like this.

Instead, I've tried asking for help in this forum and from EA support, and I'm currently waiting for any solution to be given to me. (It was pure luck on my part that I managed to get the DLC installed, but still not downloaded anyway.)

So please fix this issue as soon as you can, for all the people who love and support you by buying this DLC.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the traceroutes, everyone. I've responded privately to every one I've received. After double-checking the the various servers and files and running some test downloads, our download service providers found and corrected a handful of hardware failures on their end but, for the most part, everything's been functioning correctly. There are one or two anomalous cases they're still investigating.

Going back and forth with users, most have been able to correct their download issues on their end through one of the following means:
  • tweaking their firewall settings
  • rebooting their router/modem
  • selecting "run" rather than "save" in the download popup
  • attempting via a landline rather than a wireless connection
  • downloading the file onto a thumbdrive at work, at a friend's place, etc., and transferring it onto their Dragon Age machine that way.
Also, if your download is completing but the resulting file appears to be corrupt, you can perform an MD5 checksum on it to confirm whether or not that's actually the case. Both Apple and Microsoft have md5checksum tools available:The MD5 checksum data for an intact file should be as follows:
  • DA2_MarkOfTheAssassin.exe (Windows) = 78f72cbb88a9374488dc2cf64574d5ea
  • DA2_MarkOfTheAssassin.dmg (Mac) = 5f79222f02987a445fb58879012f52ec
If you need further help with any of this, please get in touch with our customer service department via http://help.dragonage.com/ .

Hope that helps,
Rob

Same problem as the other New Zealander, downloads but reports:

"Unable to download DA2_MarkOfTheAssassin.exe from na.llnet.bioware.cdn.ea.com. The connection with the server was reset."

Tried 3 different computers, two different browsers, and tried to run vs save it.

Run the traceroute and, if there are *s in Hop 2, that's usually a firewall or modem/router problem.

Also, it often won't help to try it on another computer that's still on the same network. If your network is the problem, you may need to attempt the download somewhere else (work, school, a friend's place, etc).

Hope that helps,
Rob

I find this to be a inexcusable cop out.
Pretty sure that those reporting problems did not have any issue with the last DLC, I know I downloaded them without issue.

Also I do not see how with so many people having this issue that the problem is on our end.
Don't you think you should stop trying to shift the blame and fix it?

This happened for me....really frustrating because it happened with legacy but not as bad. mine is strange. It says 'Cannot download. file has been removed' or something close to that. every other dlc has worked fine with the exception of 2 failed attempts of legacy(ip problem) so i dunno whats going on :S. im In melbourne australia and am using wireless. cannot use landline because there isnt a cable for it and im not going to by one so dont ask.

Hi De Sade,

We have taken the traceroutes people have submitted and we've investigated, tested, and verified the hardware, file, and pipeline on each and every one. Hardware issues were found and fixed in two cases. In every other case that I've been personally handling, the issues have proven to be local to the individual's machine or network and we've been able to successfully get them back up and running using methods such as those outlined above.

The internet's a big place, home networks aren't always reliable, and PCs are complex beasts with a wide range of setups and conflicting software. That's the simple truth of it. You may not have had problems downloading Legacy but others did and we worked with them to resolve the same sorts of issues.

We'll continue to work with people to get them up and running and they're welcome to contact our Customer Service team at any time. The fact remains that the quick fixes I'm proposing will resolve the issue for most users with the minimum fuss and confusion so they can go back to playing their game.

Hope that helps,
Rob

I am having the same problems when installing my DLCs on my new laptop, both with Mark of the Assassin and the Hi Res texture pack. This is the error I get with both:
Posted Image

Legacy and the class item packs I've had no problems with, just this particular DLC is being troublesome.

Okay! As requested,
here is my traceroute

*edit* the 8th (!) download fixed it. Finally.

Hey Rob,

I didn't mention above that I tried two different locations (home and work), but it was the same computer at both. Tried a different computer at home though.

Looking at the traceroute function, but not sure how to find the domain name - is it the website from which the download is originating?

As an added point, none of the other downloadable content had a problem, although this package is by far the largest and the slowest.

Hi dw,

You've got a great connection there and everything seems clean, although it does suddenly jump up to triple digits at hop 6.

That suggests that this isn't a problem with your firewall or router/modem (in which case you'd typically be seeing asterisks in hop 2). Unfortunately, it means that the problem is likely occurring somewhere in the middle where it's out of either of our control.

Have you tried selecting "run" rather than "save" in the download popup? Have you attempted the download via a landline rather than a wireless connection? Have you checked your Windows HOSTS file and any anti-virus / anti-spam software to ensure none of them are blacklisting any servers ending with .ea.com?

Beyond that, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas although our Customer Service team may be able to offer further advice. http://help.bioware.com

Hope that helps,
Rob

I've been informed that another potential solution is to clear out the cache and cookies on your browser and re-attempt.

Thanks,
Rob

So has there been a resolution to this issue or did I just throw ten bucks away?

Just downloaded this today and I've been getting the error. I'm assuming from this thread that it hasn't been resolved.

NSIS error is caused by corrupted data during download.

Google Chrome without add-ons is the best working browser to use at this time.
Download on a good internet connection, and do NOT use WiFi, instead use direct wired connection.
Turn off all AV.
Don't use any DL accelerators.
Some people have reported using the direct install feature instead of saving and installing works better, don't know why and doesn't really make sense to me but it has been reported.

Most times it is NOT the fault of Bioware or their servers it is instead the system used by the player to install, most common fault is WiFi. It may take 2-8 times if you are on a lower quality network to get a good clean copy. Basically do what I listed above and try again and it will probably work.

Thanks for the response.

Been doing all these things. Have a good connection - no WIFI, no accelerators, turned off firewall & av, downloaded it and also tried to run it directly, used a couple different browers. Cleared the cache, etc etc. blah blah blah.

I'll try the google chrome thing? no idea what else to do.

Had no problem with Legacy. Sigh.

EDIT:  Thank you again, mcsupersport, it worked with google chrome and its installing now. I owe you one.
