Ironically, it was this single player game that made me see how shallow and empty WoW is. I log into WoW and do the exact same things everyday. Oh sure, there's some minor variety but basically it's just me on a hamster wheel doing arenas and the odd raid to get gear. There's a story to the game but you're just a bit player and you have no permanent effect on the world (phasing notwithstanding.) It's just lame and I'm tired of it. Problem is all MMOs are that way. I won't even get into what a mess the communities typically are.

Not agreed. Coop was fun to play in BG, and that's its spiritual successor, no?GreenSoda wrote...
No coop
But PLEASE no servers in NWN-style... NO MMO.

however most mmo games turn into these things where you have to revolve your life around them, need to have entire nights where you will never be bothered so you can just play your game because you have group(s) of other people counting on you. then they turn into the breeding grounds for elitists who have things who pick on the have nots...
in the end i dont see much reason to wreck my life as well as subject myself to the lowest denominator of the human species just to play a game. its not worth it.
so no mmo please.

Why not? That was 99.9% of my thousands of hours playing NWN. How would it hurt?

Oh come on with the way this game is set up you know that it will go the route of the MMORPG, and as far as i an concerned thats ok with me.
i could see this setting as a very well done MMORPG and i for on would jump on that band wagon.

As for a MMO, I am not going to rule out playing it until I know a lot more about it than we do now (nothing). Personally I would prefer a MMO to a multi-player game in the Dragon Age universe.

As for me, as long as it doesn't mean there won't be more DA for single player, I'm fine with co-op, MMO, multiplayer, or whatever. I don't do MMOs, but if it's a completely separate development team doing it, and it doesn't mean there's no more DLC, expansions, or patches for DA what do I care? Go for it, I say. Just keep the single player goodness coming as well.

They would have to do some serious revamping with combat and itemization if they did. Especially if they included any form of PvP. Certainly not impossible but considering how time consuming it would be and they already have an mmorpg project they're working on that as of now they have no idea whether it will be profitable in the long run....
I just can't see them giving it any serious consideration until they see how TOR pans out and even then there are multiple other things for them to consider if they were to try and make DA into an mmorpg. Just because something works well as a single player game does not mean it will translate well into an mmorpg.

It's stupid really. There's no way you're knocking WoW off it's perch at #1 and you risk alienating a large portion of your existing fanbase. I like the setting too but setting in an MMO is kind of like the wallpaper on your desktop. You might notice it from time to time or if someone changed it, but other than that it's just kind of there and you don't pay much attention to it.
This game was like a breath of fresh air to me. For the first time since NWN2, I actually felt like I was involved in the world and making a difference. I never have or have had that feeling in an MMO but yet, I feel compelled to play the game with every second of my spare time to 'keep up'. No thanks, I'll pass on that from here on out.
I can honestly say that if a single player game of Dragon Age's caliber came out at least annually, I would never be tempted to return to MMOs again. Even now, I am fully aware that the only reason I feel a slight urge to log into WoW still is to talk to my friends. I would much rather grab 3-5 friends and play a co-op version of this game though. That way we could still do fun things together without having to look at the mouth breathers in the trade channel typing the word 'anal' followed by links to their characters skills and thinking it's high comedy.

Have you seen a Warcraft game since World of Warcraft came out? When the MMO version of a game launches, it's the cash cow of the franchise (recurrent monthly fees ftw!) and there is no reason to compete with yourself by making single/multi player versions.

And why create yet another fantasy MMO? I'd much, much rather see a ME MMO (a "memmo", nice).
