Definitely not MMO though. Besides, I wouldn't pay a monthly MMO fee. I've tried a couple of MMOs before and I got sick and tired of the gameplay and having to suffer irritating brats while playing. No thanks... DA:O is an adult game, BTW, so hopefully Bioware/EA will keep it this way.

Will someone please link to the article (if any) that says that the possible sequel could be an MMO? That would be the WORST NEWS EVER. I don't really believe it though.
Link is already in the thread.
The relevant information (it's ambiguous as hell, as was to be expected) is this:
AbleGamers: Any possibility of a multiplayer, LAN, or an MMO version of the Dragon Age saga down the road?
Laidlaw: When you call a game "Origins," you are
making a bit of a statement that there's more to come (and, apparently,
that you have six different openings), so I wouldn't rule it out!

Ironically, it was this single player game that made me see how shallow and empty WoW is. I log into WoW and do the exact same things everyday. Oh sure, there's some minor variety but basically it's just me on a hamster wheel doing arenas and the odd raid to get gear. There's a story to the game but you're just a bit player and you have no permanent effect on the world (phasing notwithstanding.) It's just lame and I'm tired of it. Problem is all MMOs are that way. I won't even get into what a mess the communities typically are.
This sums it up for me. I tried WoW for two months and while it had its moments, for the most part it felt more like a chore. A single player game with a story is infinitely better.

Having said that, no MMORPG other than SWTOR (I'm definitely buying this baby) has appealed to me yet.

A true multi-player game option would be nice. I have some friends I would love to lan this game with, instead of leaving all the npcs on their tactics commands.
also if we have that can we have alll the races in teh world to play too?

As far as I'm concerned one of the greatest tragedies in recent RPG history is KOTOR going MMO. The first KOTOR is still my all time favorite game. I can remember after the second game in the franchise came out there were rumors of a third game almost immediately. I remember thinking that, we may have to wait a while, but surely a third game in one of the best RPG series of all time was more a matter of when and not if. I don't remember exactly what happened but, well we all now how that worked out.
The people making the KOTOR MMO are touting their game as being different from the others, claiming that story well actually matter in this game. I don't know, maybe they'll surprise me but whatever the outcome there's just no way it could deliver the same experience as a quality massivly single player game ie Dragon Age: Origins.
I say don't ruin another great franchise, keep Dragon Age single player.

Honestly, I think you guys are looking at this wrong. The feeling I've had almost from the first time I've heard about Dragon Age is that Bioware is regarding the setting as much more than a background for just one game or even a series of games.
If you don't count Jade Empire, this is the first time Bioware has the liberty to work with an IP that they completely control. I fully expect to see not only a single-player story driven RPG sequel in the future, as well as an action RPG and maybe even an RTS. This could be directly done by Bioware or through licensing deals with other studios who have more experience in those genres.
And yes, I also expect (and fully welcome) an MMO set in the Dragon Age universe.
This. Totally this.
The same thing can be said about KOTOR and SWTOR. It's an IP, a world. SWTOR was never meant to be nor designed as a "sequel" to the KOTOR games. It's a separate thing set in the same universe/time frame. Which, by the way, is a WAAAAAY better time in the star wars world to set an MMO than the Skywalker era. Much more lore freedom. There is nothing wrong with using that world to make many different types of great games. Why not Thedas?

Okay, signed. (not that I think it matters, we grumpy old BG-ramblers would hardly be the intended market anyway.)
