Any chance we can get some actual photos of the real item, rather than the months old prototypes?
With November, and the estimated release date only a few weeks away, I'm guessing there should be something more recent than the ones on the store now.
Thanks!

I know that others have already voiced their disapproval of the prototypes, but I'd like to take this opportunity to criticize the protos as well. Both protos look like they're made of cheap plastic or rubber and what's up with those equally spaced, deep horizontal ridges running across the entirety of both ships?

Well the Cerberus Version has been officially delayed by DH until Mid December, so it's possible they don't have a finished version yet. The Alliance version though should have a better pic available that is not a prototype like the Comic Con display.
On quality I think it's important to keep in mind the price of this model. I hate to say it, but you get what you pay for. These are cheap models. There are some places selling them for sub $25 and making a profit, so you can't expect a great deal in the way of build quality. You can spend over $100 and still often not get exactly an outstandingly well done model or statue.
I guess I'm just saying don't expect too much. I would have hoped for a higher quality version from a more established high end model company, but something is better than nothing.

I've been told by a reliable source that they're made of poly resin.
I was hoping we'd get better quality pictures of the actual item that show some detail, but that's probably wishful thinking.

They may well be made of poly resin, I've seen 3 different sets of prototype pics over the months, and they all look as if they could be using different materials, can't judge much from that.
Poly resin in and of itself means next to nothing towards an item's quality, It can be and often is used in some of the best quality statues out there, however it is also used in some of the poorest products. It's a very good compound to use when it's handled properly, but it's all in the property modifiers or additives that are used, because they can radically change the finished product. And of course, the sculpt and paint work make a huge difference too.
