Why do we put up with this crap, seriously? I feel like Bioware and EA are laughing at me, you got my money and you've flogged me a dead horse. Why do you guys have such little respect for your customers that you would put something so utterly broken out there to not only ruin the experience of the DLC but corrupt and destroy previous save games? I'm sure those who have now lost all their previous progress in the game will be nonchalantly told by some indifferent mod that they'll have to go back to the beginning and start all over again like that's something we've all got the time to do.

I feel like an idiot for continually coming back for more punishment. Definitely a last for me; will be contacting PSN for a refund.

Edit: If this is of any use to anyone, I have both armour packs installed and all characters equipped with their items.  I have completed Legacy and started Mark of the Assassin from post-campaign.  I had the ocassional corrupt save during the DLC but was always able to go back to a previous and continue.  I found staying still and not initiating any combat/cutscene/dialogue during saving helped to prevent corruption.  However twice I got to the second Wyvern battle (after escaping the dungeons) and upon reload found that ALL my saves from MotA were corrupted.  Thankfully my save right before initiating MotA was not corrupted and is now sitting on my online storage for safe keeping.

I am so tired of this now though, I don't even care... I got back to that point twice just to have it screw me over.  I'll let you guys know what PSN say about getting a refund.

Have all additional content. Played through again with autosave off and all item pack items left behind safely stashed at the estate prior to starting. Made iit to the vault door (amazingly was able to loot both chests...), saved. Played through to completion and did another save after returning to the estate. That save will now not work, but the first save at the vault door will. Fourth run through- same thing each time.... Bummer

I have the premium edition and all DLC's *except* for the item packs -- I have no item packs.

My save files in the dungeon are fine but break when I go into the vaults for the fight there. Not sure if it gets corrupted if I go into the vaults the other way or if I turn off autosave.

Quick followup: I get the issue whenever I leave the dungeon (from the same save at the beginning of the dungeon), whether by each of the two exits into the vault or into the retreat. I leave the dungeon, save, and reload to find that save corrupted. This happens reliably and predictably, so I wonder if there isn't an earlier flag that makes the corruption always happen when you *leave* the dungeons.

I am having the same corrupt error for both Autosave and regular saved games.

Like most people from this thread the issue appears to occur only after leaving the dungeon and entering The Vaults.

I have also noticed that the error can affect any other post-game save files, which were confirmed working before the error. This has only occured so far on my first playthrough in MOTA; currently on my second playthrough it is only affecting save files after accessing The Vaults.

I am playing on the NA system and downloaded patch 1.04 before purchasing MOTA DLC.

The other DLC's currently active as well are the save transfer file from Dragon Age: Origins (Blood Dragon Armour, etc.), the pre-order DLC's (Black Emporium, The Exiled Prince, etc.), Legacy, all Item packs 1 and 2 and the Staff of Parlathan.

Hopefully a resolution is swiftly forthcoming.

I don't know, but I'm not doing it anymore; I did not purchase Mark of the Assassin, and specifically held-off until I heard that it was functional. Clearly it's not, and -- once again -- no replies from BioWare. There was a "Legacy issues" thread, but how long ago was "Legacy" released, and how many of those "issues" were fixed with console patch 1.04? In fact, where is the console "Patch 1.04" thread announcing what it does? It's not around because it does nothing but add trophies, and there's no thread because it doesn't warrant one.

Everyone has to realize that there is no "BioWare" anymore; it's EA, and EA posts threads like this so that players can feel like they are being heard when they have bugs to complain about. Especially at this point in the release schedule -- long after the main title has been released -- there is just no support for this game anymore. The development team has moved-on, but they don't want you to know that; they want you to feel like your time, energy, and opinions matter, even though it's pretty clear that they do not matter. Case and point: Dragon Age Origins as compared to Dragon Age 2.

Give up; you are wasting your time, and probably your money.

So? Does this mean that I'll have to keep a bugged character, and unable to go further? I hope this is a joke!

A Bioware employee coming in and saying "We're looking into it!" would be great right about now.

I agree, I have an endgame save completely corrupted and a DLC I can't play for fear of corrupted other playthroughs. I would really like someone to acknowledge that this is a problem

Not likely, they re-labled these forums as "Technical SELF HELP"

meaning that they really don't need to answer questions here. The official place to get support is via EA.com site, however when you go there they tell you to post here on bioware.com (well at least that was what has been happening in the past)

After I installed the 1.04 patch and had the MotA DLC installed I started on one of my old saves and the frame rate was bad, also the Marian character glitched and seemed to no respond to controls at all (and this was before I even started the MotA DLC) I was in the Legacy DLC section.

I then loaded another save and went to the mansion to start MotA. frame rate super bad.

Not sure if patch related or DLC related. This DLC is very poor compared to Legacy which was flawless iirc.

NOTE: I had DA2 from day one and had all the included DLC with the Signature version, and then installed Legacy and completed that on two play thrus (Rogue and Warrior)

Installed
1. The Black Emporium
2. The Exiled Prince
3. Legacy
4. Mark of the Assassin
5. Patch 1.04 (latest)

ecto if frame rate is your only problem consider yourself lucky. I am like so many others whose pleas go unheard and unanswered and have save game corruption such that I cannot continue to play ANY of the game. So glad I wasted my money on this crap. And I preordered this junk blindly hoping that it would get better.

I saved the game during the Vaults last week and everything was fine. Now, none of them work. Luckily enough I can load my previous saves between Legacy and MOTA. Its been like 2 weeks now or something?

Someone who is having the save corruption issue, I would suggest you PM a mod we know is still active on the forums--Gaider or Epler, maybe--and inform them (politely, if possible, so you can't be accused of trolling) that many people cannot complete the DLC as purchased and can they get someone to look into it please. While we wait for that to happen, perhaps we can do some of their work for them by trying to identify where things are going wrong. I thought it might have to do with autosave, but that's since been invalidated. Someone else suggested item pack DLCs were the culprit, but I can confirm that's not the case. Try this: for those of you who have corrupted saves, how many are using a postgame file to play MotA?

that's clear, but is also quite evident that we can't solve this problem on our own... any news from the staff would be appreciated...

Decided to Start a new game as WarriorHawk. Got to Kirkwall and to Gamlins house. Didn't open up legacy or any of the additional packs at uncles before starting Mota. So had Varric and Bethany along and they get a couple of nice amulets via their side quests. Finished up and all saves work. Of course that now means I have to play through Da2 for the fourth time, and no telling what will happen when I open the Dlc packs..... Don't know if I'll get it in before I turn my attention ES Skyrim.

^ Mountainslide- that is what i'm doing with my new Hawkes. i'm not going to open any item boxes because i am having problems with the Warrior Pack II. i open it and it still shows i haven't....but grabbed everything. O_o
also thought about doing MoTA and not taking any of the goodies. the time i finished MoTA during act 3 my final autosave after the final showdown, wouldn't work and i had all kinds of things from MoTA equipped. so... idk...so frustrated but i'm being patient. hope its soon.

I hate to say this but until this corruption save bug is handled I am not going to be wasting any more time with this game. No point on making any progress if it is just going to get corrupted. I did get a pm from one of the mods early when this bug was mentioned pretty much asking all the usual questions (What PS3 am I using, what patch am I on, and ect..) So for those who don't think they aren't looking into this they are. I just hope we get a new patch fixing this sooner rather than later. 11/11/11 is a big day. Correction, November itself is just a big month for entertainment media. Getting Skyrim and ACR (Assassins Creed Revelation just for the multiplayer).

I found a way to avoid corrupted saves, at least it worked for me! Here it is:

I did the whole dlc starting from a character that has no post-campaign save, and equipped him with the various accessories from the item packs, promo item and stuff like this, just to be sure that the problem really doesn't matter with such things, then i started the dlc and saved it just 2 times in spots where i was sure my games was not going to crash (before the wyvern fight and just before the vault)

I completed the dlc normally, then I saved back to kirkwall, did two random mission, just to be sure, then saved again: all the save files work fine

Then, at least in my case, the corruption seems to happen starting with a character from a post-campaign save file.

When I have time, I will try this procedure with another Hawke of mine that actually has corrupted save files at certain point of this dlc, just to be sure!

Hope It was useful ^^

Similar issue here:

I made it through MotA until leaving the caves to go out to Mountain to start the last outside section of the DLC. All saves worked fine until that point. All saves after leaving the caves are now corrupted. That includes the saves I made after beating Leopold and trying to save after being returned to DAII. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of overwriting my previous saves in DAII so now I can not return there and have lost ALL of my progress on DAII. Which really, really sucks by the way Bioware. So I am 100% stuck. Any real news on if this will be fixed? I really hope Bioware understands how disappointing this is....I have bought their games for years and have always enjoyed them. The fact that we aren't hearing anything from them...makes me feel like they don't care as long as they got their $10...

I had the same thing occur to me as well. I have a save prior to entering the vault which seems to be ok , but any saves after that are corrupted. So Bioware needs to say something about this. I don't know what Bioware is having so many corruption issues with there games on the PS3, but they need to figure out the underlying cause and fix it. This is unacceptable. Hopefully a fix will come and I can play from prior to the vault and finish the DLC again and save my Warrior Hawke.

Well..for everyone's reading pleasure...here is the response I got from EA online technical support. By the way, at the end of the chat it says that they ended the chat because I was no longer available. Not true....they just "hung up" on me. I have to admit I was getting a little frustrated with what I was being told but the ATTITUDE REALLY SEEMS TO BE WE CAN'T FIX IT AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO - SO JUST RESTART YOUR GAME AND "WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE."

Thank you for contacting EA, please wait while we connect you to the next available agent.

Your approximate wait time is 1 minute.

Hello?
Ashutosh:
Thank you for contacting Origin Help. My name is Ashutosh. How may I assist you today?
you:
I am having corrupted save files issue with Mark of The Assasin DLC in DAII. Any solution?
Ashutosh:
Thank you for providing me the information. Please stay online while I look into your issue.
you:
Any luck?
Ashutosh:
Please wait. I am trying to solve your issue.
you:
Will do.
Ashutosh:
Your game is crashed.
you:
You mean it can not be fixed?
Ashutosh:
Yes. Please reinstall the game again.
you:
That....really....sucks.
you:
Would it be possible for me to save one of the uncorrupted save files to a thumb drive. Unistall the game; then reinstall the game; and then upload the uncorrupted game to restart from where I was at so that I won't have to restart the whole game?
Ashutosh:
Yes.
Ashutosh:
You can try that one too.But I will prefer,to uninstall the entire game and try installing the game freshly.
you:
Wow....it is really disappointing that you pay $ for DLC that is so buggy that it screws up your entire game and makes you have to restart from scratch. Thank you for your $........we will now be ending your gaming enjoyment.
you:
Are you saying I need to unistall the entire DAII game or just the Mark of a Assassin DLC that caused the glitch.
Ashutosh:
The DLC content.
you:
Well...that is at least a little better option. Problem is I saved over my previous game saves so I can't go back to a point with a saved game that is prior to when I started the DLC. So I will have to give it a try with what I have. Hopefully I will not have to restart the entire DAII game...
Ashutosh:
Yes.You do have to restart your game.
you:
Restart the DLC (Mark of the Assasin) from the beginning or restart the entire Dragon Age II game from the beginning.
you:
Restart the DLC (Mark of the Assasin) from the beginning or restart the entire Dragon Age II game from the beginning?
Ashutosh:
Please restart the game.
you:
What do you mean by Please restart the game? Do you mean Restart the DLC (Mark of the Assasin) from the beginning or restart the entire Dragon Age II game from the beginning? Do you understand the difference between the two options?
Ashutosh:
Restart the entire Dragon Age II game from the beginning.
you:
Hmm.....wow.....that is an EPIC FAIL on the part of EA and Bioware. I don't think I am all that interested in restarting this game. However, I will take it as a lesson learned about EA and Bioware and the crap they are willing to sell to make a quick buck at the expense of their customers.
Ashutosh:
I apologize for the inconvenience.
you:
Really...I know that you have nothing to do with this but do they really train you to say stuff like "I apologize for the inconvenience." We are just talking about a game here but those kind of platitudes just ****** customers off more when they are obviously not sincere.
you:
Response?
Ashutosh:
Please allow me some time.
Ashutosh:
Well,I have made some changes.
Ashutosh:
Please try logging in after time.
you:
What does that mean? What are you saying? I'm sorry but can you explain to me what you mean by "Well. I have made some changes" and "Please try logging in after time?"
Ashutosh:
Please allow me some time.
Ashutosh:
It appears that you are no longer available for this chat session; hence, I am concluding it. If you have any more question or concerns, please feel free to contact us again and we would be glad to us assist you further.
Ashutosh:
Thank you for contacting Origin and chatting with me. I do appreciate your time and have a great day!
The chat session has ended. Please contact us again if you need further help.

not only did it corrupt my mage save....when i load up the post campaign.....it does the final dialogue with the evil one and then... i cannot move..this is the save i did first with MoTA. there is sound and movement but i cannot move. -__-' i am so scared to use my other two finished games. one character i did use i did the dlc in the beginning of Act 3 and then the final battle and it told me it was corrupted after the credits. i cannot even load it -__-' i'm giving BioWare or somebody til the end of November and then i am uninstalling the game and dlc's and then reinstalling. i am trying different things... benefit of the doubt. it's still a fun game regardless some of the headaches ^__^
