Ok, I can get down to 2 pieces left, and usually 1, but the pieces don't seem to always move the same way. It's like sometimes they move differently than the the usual .... hit this 1 and it moves these .. hit again and they move back..

Either way, I have been at this for 3 hours , so if anyone can help/advise I would be extremely thankful.......

You dont need mark of the assasin to get the green icon. you need to use more than just your main character to get the colored runes. then while standing at opposite side of the rune mixer the two characters put the yellow and blue runes on the mixer, then you wil activate the mixer and get the green rune. thats how you open each of the green and purple doors.
once you get all 3 paintings unlocked you will have to pay attention to which people in the painting are have the white hats , those are the respective tiles that have to be flipped.
As far as the painting on the floor start from the outside and work your way until the center foursquare is the only one that needs to be flipped.. I'd put up a screenshot but i dont know how.. if someone tells me how I will submit pictures..

Ok, I have completed 2 of the 3 sides.... the colour parts was esy... and mixing?, well I am a painter by trade. It's the puzzle where you have to "make the face" that I am have trioubles with.

Is there an asctual order to it, or guesswork as I have been doing? I am no stranger to puzzles but this one is taking me longer than I would like.

Or are you saying that the order of the screenies, IS the solution?

Well I got through it..... fiunally. As much as I greatly appreciate your help, your pics left me somewhat confused. However the link you provided helped a LOT as did the vid.

So thanks SOOO very much for all your help, I have kept copies and shortcuts in case I forget and require help in the future.

i have no clue whatsoever how to solve these puzzles, and your little square things aren't helping. there's 5 squares, but you only did 4 square drawings. am i just retarded or what? i don't get it, it's driving me insane.

That puzzle was a pain, it took me about 10 tries to get it right and I am usually pretty good at puzzles.

thanks caradoc2000 i figured it out eventually, but after that time i just do all the other puzzles without solving it, hope the next game doesn't have any of these stupid things. i prefer the puzzles in god of war to be honest.
