Where do you see your Shepard after ME3?

If Illusive Man is dead, he'll seize control of Cerberus, either renaming it, or retaining it's name ( Three Headed Dog; Fitting, for the three heads behind it; Miranda, Shepard, and the Shadow Broker. )
Having an infinite flow of information at his disposal, he'll be able to manipulate the market as he see fit, gaining billions trough investments. Thus, with potentially limitless resources, and limitless information, he'll forge an organization bearing the same ideology of Spectres; Protect Galactic Stability, yet under his own command.
Who else is more qualified to defend the Galaxy then the one who saved it..? It shall be no trouble getting recruits ( Conrand is first! ) Obviously, sooner or later, this organization shall expand and drawn notice.
The Council or even the Alliance might be threatened, alas; They'll be powerless. The entire Galactic Community respects Shepard, he'll be untouchable. Thus, he'll do what he always had; Fight, but this time.. He'll use his head more than his muscles.
Even without Reapers, there will be always war.

My Earthborn/Warhero might try to retire, but would get bored within a couple weeks. After that, he'd probably continue as he has been, running around the galaxy, pissing off the Council, doing his best to solve whatever new problems come up after the Reapers are dealt with. They'll have to pry the Normandy from his cold dead fingers.
My Colonist/Sole Survivor would do whatever was asked of her, but if she gets her own way she'd be put in command of the defense force of some quiet backwater colony that no one cares about. Not a complete retirement, but she wouldn't see that much action either.
My Spacer/Ruthless would probably take the chance to gather whatever personal power he could get. He's not the sort to be interested in going heavily into politics or becoming the new galactic overlord, but he wouldn't say no to commanding a large military force or maybe a small system or two. You know, the usual.

1) Hunting down the Reapers who survived the war and are hiding the in darkspace within the galaxy.
(Generally viewed as an obsession by the rest of the galaxy looking to convince itself the threat is over, but it's one that is generally considered harmless.)
2) Trying to organize expeditions to other galaxies, to discover/find/stop any Reapers there as well.
(Generally ridiculed by the rest of the galaxy looking to convince itself the Reapers would only care about our own galaxy. Ignorred by most, and likely dies before seeing another galaxy.)

My main female Shepard will likely return to her days of lawlessness, except this time, she'll do a good job of it.

Unfortunately Shepard isn't smart enough. Fortunately he has Miranda to do the hard thinking for him.

For female Shepard...probably living a happy life with Kaidan and/or Jacob and "servicing him". They might have a kid together lol.

As the father of a 19-year-old college student, I endorse DJRackham's ending. (Though I actually have this amusing image of Liara talking Shepard into staying in the action-hero business. Even if she goes back mostly to being the scientist/archaeologist we know and love, can you imagine her retiring at 110?)Dean_the_Young wrote...

If the Reapers got a hold of him, they would probably if not absolutely exploit those misgivings and insecurities he feels and would make it easier for them to exert their influence. However, Shepard isn't a normal human being. His determination to win and willpower is over 9000!!!!!!
Sorry couldn't resist

If Joker, Anderson, and Chakwas all survive, she'll likely go back to the Alliance, refusing her spectre status to become a common soldier again. She'll refuse promotions that will take her off the field of battle. She'll continue to fight the good fight in the defense of humanity until she gets tired of being the poster girl "Hero" of the universe. Likely disappear over night, retiring to a colony in the middle of nowhere and end up running security.
If all her Alliance ties die. She'll disappear for a while to get her head on straight, deal with all her issues, and eventually jump back into the picture starting her own merc band. Likely going the vigilante route, making life hell for murderers, thieves, extortionists, general low-lifes. Continuing to fight the good fight, outside of the restrictions of the law. It's more than likely she'll eventually die in combat and her merc band will break apart, or go into business as low-life scum.
Or, what i consider to be her far more likely ending at this point is - If any Reapers survive the final assault, and escape into dark space, she will do everything within her power to hunt them down and blast them out of the sky. Alliance, council, colonists, everyone and everything be damned. When it comes to the Reapers she wants them *ALL* dead, and she won't rest until those space bugs are all blown out of the sky, she'd likely die in this ending also, due to her self-destructive attitude towards the Reapers.
Editted for errors.

Most of the Paragon Sheps will look to drop off the grid as best as they can. Some with a LI and some without if they aren't the settling down type.
The Renegade Sheps will be too busy as the First Galactic Emperor

Shepard can't settle down or retire. The galaxy will always need a Shepard. He's too much of a hero to function in any normal role. He's offered to lead the Alliance but refuses. He's offered a seat on the council but refuses. He becomes a living legend. The Normandy never stops roaming the galaxy fighting every threat. Eventually the original human Shepard dies or can no longer fight but it doesn't end there. Either a combination of his implants, an advanced AI and armor or a living successor (offspring or other trusted successor) takes on the mantle of Shepard and adopts a variation of the Death Mask helmet to conceal their true identity (or lack of one). This Shepard and the Normandy become mythical. After some decades or centuries pass, no one knows just who or what Shepard is, if he is somehow the hero that defeated the reapers living eternally or merely something else using that identity or even if he is just a myth (expect a turian to airquote and dismiss the claim). The legend of Shepard continues and regardless of what people think he is, the avatar of Shepard has become a symbol of
protection for the galaxy and of fear for its enemies. As long as Liara lives, the Shadow Broker continues to supply Shepard with all the resources and information he needs and may continue to do so if a trusted successor becomes the new Broker. If Miranda takes over Cerberus it too joins in this purpose. The combined might and influence of the Shepard avatar, Shadow Broker and Cerberus form an unbreakable and inseparable machine that preserves the stability and well being of the galaxy. It exercises control when need be but does not rule.
In short Shepard himself becomes Space Batman. I know that's been said of Garrus but screw that. He can be Space NightWing if he really wants. Don't ask who Space Robin is...
As for the rest of them:
Ashley: Eventually becomes an Admiral of the Alliance. Maybe that conflicts with her Spectre status maybe not. Even so she will always be Alliance. She also has a family with someone (not sure who).
Wrex: Goes down in history as the most celebrated krogan warlord, uniting his people and enabling them to become a stable race in the galaxy. Krogan are still among the most feared and respected warriors in the
galaxy.
Tali: Becomes one of the most revered Admirals of the Migrant fleet. Eventually gets her house on the homeworld and is a major positive factor in establishing and maintaining a quarian-geth alliance.
Garrus: Becomes the hero of the Citadel and the face of the war against the Reapers that Shepard can never be. Is the top Spectre for many years and is basically the equivalent of post ME1 Shepard, leading a squad of
top warriors to fight injustice all over the galaxy.
Liara: Retains her role as Shadow Broker for the rest of her life. Keeping the Shepard Directive going is what keeps her “honest”.
Joker& Chalkwas: Grouped together because they both do the same thing, continue serving aboard the Normandy for as long as they are able. Chalkwas writes and publishes her memoirs detailing her adventures aboard the Normandy but she makes no mention of their greater existence.
EDI- remains the Normandy but also devotes her great abilities to managing the Shadow Broker business
with Liara and/or Cerberus. Potential candidate for taking over fully once Liara dies.
Miranda: Love interest for Shepard. She is cured of her sterility and is able to have kids. Shepard-Miranda child potential successor for Shepard avatar. Eventually can take over Cerberus, killing the Illusive Man if he’s still around and merges its resources with the Shadow Broker to support the Shepard legend. Also helped or eventually replaced by EDI
Jacob: Some high ranking position within the Alliance. Although recognized for his achievements he’s not included in the Shepard Directive.
Kelly: Jacob’s assistant, does a lot of the same things for him as she did for Shepard. Possibly becomes romantically involved.
Mordin: Works with krogan on amending the genophage. Although still necessary, his work achieves a new breakthrough in reducing the number of still births while still ensuring reproduction rate does not reach overwhelming levels. Dies a patron of the arts. Nephew follows in his footsteps.
Samara: Follows the Justicar code to the end of her days. Is able to reconcile with her remaining daughters.
Thane: Finally accepts lung transplants allowing him to live to a ripe old age. Dies surrounded by son’s family.
Kasumi: Becomes Shepard’s immediate right hand for the rest of their natural lives, often fighting by his side and going to places he can’t. They have a very close, caring relationship though it is not sexual- by the end
she knows him better than anyone, even Miranda. Occasionally disappears to steal stuff (hey, it’s what she does).
Legion: Geth representative to the quarians and the rest of the galaxy. Frequently works with Tali.
Zaeed: Initially tries retirement but doesn’t like it. Retakes control of Blue Suns. Dies during a firefight, possibly a gangwar.
Jack: Runs with mercs and pirates for a while. Eventually either finds a leader able to get past her shields and rely on him emotionally the way Shepard could’ve or rescues a similarly misfortuned kid whom she takes under her wing, either way finally putting her past behind.
Grunt: Matures and realizes he doesn’t always have to brutally kill something. Eventually takes over Clan Urdnot after Wrex’s death. His perfect krogan genes and reputation draw many fertile females which results
in plenty of offspring.
Anderson:
Eventually retires from the Alliance as a celebrated hero. Lives out the rest of his life on the Citadel in peace,
possibly as Ambassador.
Udina: Dies somehow. Because **** that guy. Probably crushed indifferently by a Reaper.
Sappy Ending:
Same as above except that Shepard can settle down with Miranda and lead a normal life. The Shepard legend can continue through non-organic avatar managed by Liara and EDI while human Shepard and Miranda
retire to parts unknown (exact location is Liara’s closest guarded secret).Everything else the same.
Addendum: In event of Liara romance or some really contrived circumstance where Miranda is fine with it, Shepard can mate with Liara and produce next asari heir to Shadow Broker business.
