As for DSIII, how good does the story itself get? Also, do they say Jayne Kassynder every two lines like they did in the demo?
No. She becomes less relevant for awhile. When she is relevant again they manage to mention every four or five lines at worst. Several characters go so far to refer to her as Jeyne. Just Jeyne.
The main plot is nothing special. I doubt anyone will think they saw the second coming of Planescape: Torment after finishing it. Some of the side quests do a better job. The overrarching plot in Stonebridge presents two of the better decisions to make; and the only story I found truly compelling. The frequently referred to Jeyne is not the deepest nor most interesting antagonist ever, but she is also not one dimensional.
The main issue with DS3's plot is it rarely stops to explore its own lore or any implications of your characters' actions until it's over. Imagine if DAO was all about building an army to defeat the archdemon with most side quests and character development stripped; except for Redcliffe and Loghain.
I think it's a fun little game--especially with friends. Just don't expect Mask of the Betrayer.
