So on the advice of an interview given out about MotA a while ago, I brought Isabella and Aveline along since they'd have a connection to Orlais and the Qunari, respectively. Now, I know the wiki article is woefully barren right now, but it seems to imply that these two characters do not have side quests in this DLC... while CARVER of all people, does.

Does every companion get a quest, or only specific ones?

Isabela and Aveline get two companion quests.

Two Generic Ones [One for Each]
And two Personal Ones [One for Each]

Although I WISH I knew where we learned about Aveline's heritage, because christ, I have not once heard any dialogue about it besides her mother's red hair.

Carver has a quest? Dammit! How did I miss that? Now I'll have to take him again.

I don't know about either of the siblings getting a quest, but from what I guess:

There's a quest to pick up small, inconsequential items that nevertheless relate to your companions, and towards the end they lead to caches that reward necklaces exclusive to those characters. There're also some more involved quests, but I'm not sure if those quests are for everyone. I got a quest where Isabella had to collect jewels and a rusty dagger to reverse a curse on some pirates, but I didn't get a "personal quest" for Avelline.

Aveline's personal quest triggers by picking up an item in the Vault and you can complete it when you go back to the Dungeons.

Which item in what room, if you don't mind my asking?

Bethany's quest consists of collecting small portraits in the estate (I think there are at least 3).

Varric's one involves finding some story stolen from his material called "Hard in Hightown 2: Even Harder" IIRC

As I recall, it is in the corridor between the fire trap room and the south exit (not the one in the rune puzzle room). It is the Du Lac family seal.

This is the truth. Every follower has a "collect 3 items for a personal necklace" including Bethany and Carver. Isabela and Aveline have quests that involve cinematics and dialogue with other characters. Isabela's starts from the three statues in the prison. Aveline's starts from a book near the other entrance from the vault, near the puzzles, before the battle area. I haven't verified on all characters, but I'm pretty sure that the 'collect 3 items' quests all start during the sneaking section.

Does Merrill get a Quest as well or an exclusive Item? When I went through the DLC. I never found anything that triggered a Quest or found anything for her?

Although Aveline's gives more questions than answers.

Yeah I noticed that. I wonder if we'll ever learn more about Aveline's family. I'm actually pretty interested now. Still don't want to go to Orlais - can't stand the baby talk accents, lol - but I'd like to learn what happened with her family's exile and about that dude in prison with demon phylactory thing.

MotA takes place in Orlais, you know.

All the companions have a "collect 3 items and get a new trinket" kind of quest that starts during the sneaking section. But Aveline and Izzy are the only ones that also have a personal quest. Bethany and Fenris don't have one. Not sure about the other companions, but I'll keep testing to see what happens.

Fenris does indeed have a mini quest; it involves finding three Fog Warrior pendants which (when combined) will lead you to a cache that has his personal item.

Aveline talks about her father when offering condolences to Hawke after All that Remains depending on Hawke's responses - iirc the dialog was initially bugged and wouldn't trigger properly but it's fixed now - you can probably find it on youtube, it's a fairly powerful little scene.

Surprisingly, Sebastian also has one. He finds a series of random recipes, of all things, which lead to a cache with a necklace. No cut scenes or anything, tho.

Sebastian was rather dull through out the entire MoTA, besides giving Bethany a sly grin, which caused her to swoon, it was rather dull having him around.

That Swoon was nearly hilarious as the Bee Sting in my opinion.
