I've had dragon age installed on my computer since it first came out and its been fine. Suddenly today Kaspersky pops up a report that its detected a trojan in daorigins.exe.

This may be related to the similar problem reported by Avast uses here and I assume its another false positive:
http://social.biowar...index/7533568/4

This doesn't actually bother me that much since I havent played the game in months but I thought it worth reporting.

If it makes any difference, the version of DA:O I have is the Digital Delux Edition pruchased online from gamesplanet.com

The error kaspersky displays is: "virus HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic detected in d:\\Games\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe".
It then states that it cannot fix, delete or quarantine the file because it is now missing (if it didnt delete it, where did it go?). I checked and sure enough daorigins.exe is gone and I can't launch the game.

Kaspersky has never been known for good compatibility with games, and this failure is anything but new, which you would have known, I am almost certain, with almost any kind of search here on these forums, even if it was no better than the terrible Finder offered here on the site.

Update your Kaspersky to 2012. Reboot computer. Run update on your definitions. Go to Quarantine. Rescan file.

I've been using Kaspersky for over 3 years and never had an issue with games before.
I searched both this site and google for conflicts between dragon age and Kaspersky and found nothing.

Update your Kaspersky to 2012.
Reboot computer. Run update on your definitions. Go to Quarantine.
Rescan file.

Thanks, this might fix it but like I said, I'm actually not concerned about the game not working any more as I havent played it in ages. I was just reporting an issue for Bioware.
As I said, the game has been on my computer running fine since it was first released which suggests that the latest Kaspersky update caused this. It's likely that this will still occur with 2012 as the virus dfefinitions should be the same.

No thanks. I like Kaspersky and its been fine up until now.

You should notify Kaspersky about the false positive, not Bioware. One of these 2 companies updates their software almost daily.

Strange that it can't find the exe though.

One of those may have an answer.  It happens all of the time, no matter what any shills working for Kaspersky claim.
