That's not fair.  There are also romance threads!  Wait...that didn't help, did it?

not really, no....though it did bring up some of the creepy factor this place has at times as well.

Another silly part to this is that I, possibly more than anyone else on this forum, understand Zeel's actions/mindset/mental state.

When one gets into such an unhappy state regarding what was once one of their favorite game studios, it is time to turn around, walk away, and never look back. I did this once myself, when Blizzard went all silly kooky crazy during the WoW period.

The commercialization of a gaming studio is a slippery slope, my friends, and the reason I stand so strongly against this is a result of what I have seen happen too many times. Once the snowball has begun rolling, however, I will not return.

- - - - -

A person has to realize when that which they treasured so much has changed. This happens in marriages all the time: people change, you and I included. I know this seems a bit melodramatic, but it leans a bit close to truth for me.

One of the main things I always wanted to do in Mass Effect is to control other races. I really hope that's true. *-*

Wait, you think they're not serious about that part?

My sorry then, but I'm so lacking information about this whole thing and I didn't know about that specific part before.

I'm so glad I can now get to play as other races.:wizard:

you know whats annoying? the THOUSANDS of Multiplayer topics breeding on this board. every minute we have a new moron posting another moronic question or  moronic feature or moronic inquiry about multiplayer.

Not only has multiplayer killed Mass Effect 3, it's killed this board.

Oh the irony.

lol

I am not exactly on board with where ME has gone, but dang. I side with the forums in their view of this guy.

I am actually liking these screenshots. I will eventually try the multiplayer out, but not until the true Mass Effect story has been played.

Prince Zael, you're suppose to represent the current rational opposition to MP?

Huh... I highly recommend that you work on it more unless you're under 18 of which I'll then totally understand your current attitude to having things that you don't want.

Besides, you're right about MP always ruining SP. I mean Uncharted 2, Portal 2, and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood were HORRID GAMES! The sheer awfulness of those games just make me shudder in fear for ME3.

Portal 2 is the only game where multiplayer got high praise for adding to the game, rather than being tacked on and uninteresting.

But yes, those games overall are fantastic. Let's hope ME3 takes that route.

Single player experience has been sacrificed for new shiny multiplayer experience. Thank EA games and Bioware for making such a brilliant decision.

And yet, here you are, like a butthurt loser who's whining his ass off, when he can leave at any time.

"Leave" what exactly? The board? I leave the Board whenever I want.(or by force sometimes) What I can't exactly leave (thanks to you lovely Gears of War fans) Is the Multiplayer experience. It's now ingrained in my singleplayer experience.

Who do I thank for this disgusting debacle.

MP= Optional
Playing ME 3: Optional
****ing: apparently not optional.
just to be sure im not trolling cant wait to create a walking, talking, tank(Krogan). aswell it looks to be smoothly implemented into the game enviroment.

Dontlikeitdontplayit.

I see that turians can choose their facepaints.

Will there be voicework for multiplayer or do we have silent protagonists? It would be alot of work to make 4 voiceovers for each race. I want to play as Lorik Qui'in. It would be such a pleasure.

Allow me to outline for you and everyone else my reason to cut multiplayer:
  • Hudson says the new Bioware studio is working on the multiplayer aspect.
  • People (previously) didn't buy Mass Effect for multiplayer, they bought it for single-player.
  • Having the BRAND NEW studio help work with/on the single-player campaign would make it BETTER.
  • Thus, shouldn't everyone support the cutting of the multiplayer to improve the single player?

Um, I kind recall people being pretty damn fond of UC2's multiplayer (it's still hugely popular in some parts of the world) and with Brotherhood, quite pleasantly surprised for the most part.

and for the record, Bioware is awesome. DA2 was a big learning lesson for them. ME3 is gonna rock. no amount of whining about something you haven't even tried is going to change that.

If Bioware walked to me and asked: "Multiplayer?"

I would have politely said "no," especially to competitive; but this co-op seems interesting and I'll wait for actual footage.

Please, gent, don't drop to petty insults. Everyone should voice their concerns if they have them without being insulted by those who disagree. ME3 would be just as good if not better without multiplayer, and you know it! ;)

Great, the single player quality remains the same. If not better since they're really getting to know the engine now. Plus I'm sure they've hired a few more people where they need it. They also delayed the game 3+ months. The single player is going to be really well polished.

  • Having the BRAND NEW studio help work with/on the single-player campaign would make it BETTER.
You're assuming they would have even hired the BRAND NEW studio in the first place if they didn't want to add a major multiplayer component to ME3. Bioware's pretty well funded, I'm sure they hired everyone they need on the main team to work on singleplayer.

  • Thus, shouldn't everyone support the cutting of the multiplayer to improve the single player?
No because the multiplayer adds a ton more replay value. It's also a pretty big selling point and reason for people not to just trade in their copies when they've beaten it.

Well, no game, no matter how developed or worked out, will ever be perfect.

I'll make the above assumption in order to make my point:

It is not always that putting more resources into the production of a game will make it better, but as long as we can safely say that Bioware management is both EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE, we can say that putting more resources into the Mass Effect 3 single-player will make it better. As a result of the concept of perfection being an UNATTAINABLE goal, an infinite amount of resources can be put into the game, leading it to be infinitely close to this arching goal of perfection.

Having formed this premise, I would go so far as to say that redevoting the resources of the new Bioware studio towards the ME3 single player campaign would improve it to the extent of the amount of resources devoted towards it. As the entire Mass Effect series is all about the story of Commander Shepard, I would recommend improving the single-player. I, for one, want to experience the best single-player campaign that Bioware can afford to give. As long as they continue to put resources forward to this multiplayer co-op project, the single-player portion will not be their very best.

I quoted the only part above that I would take issue with.  I think it's naive of a consumer to believe that a company has a personal relationship with that consumer when it has only been an exchange of currency for a license agreement (which is all software really is).  All gaming studios are out to make money.  Perhaps your real problem is that the studio was not satisfied making X amount of dollars from you and the initial fans of the company.  If that is the case, I'd have to ask "how much money do you think it's acceptable for a company to make?"

*Apologies for the snip, but there's been a lot of pyamid quoting going on, and I didn't want to take up that much space.

On-Topic: I'm actually getting a little more excited about the co-op.  We don't know details, but the possibilities seem pretty good.  Would some of us still be playing ME1 right now if we could team up and meet on that one planet to punch monkeys?  Maybe.

It looks... interesting, but, I need to know how much space on the disk that has been sacrificed to put this co-op thingy.
