Um, that won't prove it was a bad idea, unless you think popularity is the only metric that matters. Also, wrt the ALLCAPS: some ME fans did indeed ask for it.  Not you, not me, and not most.  But the fact remains, plenty still did.

Popularity with the games usually DOES factor in the longevity. Can you play GRAW 2 online on X-Box Live right now? I couldn't, and I tried it in between APRIL-JULY 2010.  Could you play F.E.A.R. 3 online right now? Last time I checked, no one can, as far as JULY 2011. Can you play any of the earlier Splinter Cell games online? Barely.

Dude, quit changing subjects.  Now you're on about longevity, but you haven't said why lack of popularity means it was a bad idea.  Lots of good ideas never catch on.  Lots of bad ideas do.  So, tell me again how it dying in 2 months will prove it was a bad idea.

I agree. Something dying in two months does not make it a bad idea, and I have one word to support this:

Firefly

Will getting the best ending be harder in only SP? Will i have to do a hell of a lot more work?

It's really a win/win, especially since the main team isn't taking resources away from single player for cooperative play.

When they have people up to the wee hours of the morning (according to the Pulse video) playing multiplayer, they may not be getting their rest to focus on single-player during the day.

Considering those same people weren't going to be working on SP anyway it wouldn't matter. They are a different team.

Yes and when you have them taking lunch breaks, they're losing time they could use to focus on single player

Re-fueling the body with nourishment is not lost time, it is time well-spent.

Isn't staying up to the wee hours playing multiplayer supposed to be a testers job. :P

Popularity= "I want to play this game non-stop factor." If the players hate the game, they'll drop it like a hot potato or play a different game. This in turn affects the longevity of the game. Every game that has an emphasis on multiplayer dies out ONE WAY OR ANOTHER (whether be it server shutdowns, technical issues, or the entire community of that particular game being bored of it.)

If someone was on the fence about getting ME3 because of financial issues and got it MONTHS LATER after the two-month life-span, he/she would be screwed out of multiplayer if the ENTIRE COMMUNITY LEFT.  I've BEEN ON THAT BOAT, not to mention ME3 MIGHT JOIN IT.

Judging from what we know thus far, that probably depends on your definition of work. It sounds like taking advantage of the co-op component bypasses the necessity of performing various assignments. If you hate the sidequests, you might have a bit of an issue with the system unless further details shed new light on it.

I always do every assignment so suffice it to say I'm OK with the way things are.

Maybe.  How are we supposed to know? And let's say there are bugs.  Guess what?  You still have no way to know if the lack of MP would have made any difference.   I mean, we had import bugs in ME2 and there's no MP to scapegoat for those.

How about the big hype about "ME2 is a stand-alone experience" being the main focus, not to mention the need to change the entire gameplay system being a major factor? BioWare already jumped on the Kinect and MP bandwagon when no one specifically asked for it (except for the vocal minority that wanted MP). What's to say the funds that could have been on MP could have prevented future Conrad Verner glitches?

All work and no play make shep a dull boy.

Or are you saying time spent playing games is not time well spent?

(even if you;re saying time developers spend playing the game they are developing is not well spent ,,,, It makes little sense, no? )

have fun :)

Still not the worst cancellation of all time as far as I'm concerned, but certainly the worst within a very short period of time since a show's launch.

Last time I checked, Firefly is available on a DVD box set, not exculsively available on Hulu/YouTube/whatever stream site. Gaming is a DIFFERENT BEAST.

This. I have even tried to mine every planet in some playthroughs.

It'll be even better now when the side missions actually have something to do with the main missions.

Forza 3 did it and it was still a 60$ buy. One for the main story, and the other installs multiplayer.

I imagine there might be a thing similar to the cerberus network and the multiplayer will be free launch DLC like how Zaeed was. That would be cool.

Uh, yeah, exactly: what is to say? Not the mere fact that MP exists, that's for sure.  It's just a conjecture without some sort of real evidence (which we're ever so unlikely to actually get).

So you are saying in order to avoid stressing and hating working on the single-player, they blow off steam playing the multiplayer of the same game most of the night?  Huh?  I'm not even sure why this is going back and forth, I never started an argument with you *shrug*.

*snip*

Ah, I'd forgotten what they did with XIII for the 360 as I actually bought it for PS3. Lost Odyssey though, quite true -- four discs! On the 360!

It does raise the price of manufacturing each individual copy, and that's ultimately the biggest factor, I suppose. I just feel like if a company such as Japan's Mistwalker is getting the publishing OK for four discs, EA's Bioware shouldn't have too big a hassle with it. The return is guaranteed.

Granted, this wasn't an RPG, and nor did it have multiplayer, but L.A. Noire was a three-discer, as well, so there's definitely a fair amount of precedent for it.

Fingers crossed they keep the ability to solo the co-op missions in, and play offline, then I'll play the sh*t out of them. And if not, and ye need Gold, I'll make do with the single player campaign, content in the knowledge I'm still getting a nice, long, meaty (ooer, matron) conclusion to Shep's story. Being able to play the co-op offline, and anything else beyond the single player story, is just gravy.

See my sig for what I want to play as if I can... :P
