Usual disclaimers, this is OPINION
For those that need reference: 2min mark of video:
"Because it has been an integrated design effort, we've created something that is a cohesive experience between multiplayer and single player."
Definition 2 speaks volumes
Cohesive
adjective
1. characterized by or causing cohesion: a cohesive agent.
2. cohering or tending to cohere; well-integrated; unified
So far all that keep harping on "You don't have to play the MP to get the optimal ending" FINE. There's 1 ending you're guaranteed to get by avoiding MP. Of course optimal doesn't mean the same thing to everyone, so who's to say that's really true.
For those of us that play these games as a WHOLE EXPERIENCE, we're boned. The majority of us junkies don't play this game once for the "optimal" ending. We play it repeatedly to experience every facet the game has to offer. It's why people are still playing the first two games now, long after the bloopdie-bloop achievement popped up saying you completed the game (and in ME2 saved everyone for you optimal fiends). It's why people have 5-10 Shepards ready to import.
Hair after 1min:
"ME1 & 2 were about Commander Shepard and his small crew, this is really the beginning, middle, and end of the whole galactic war"
Of course now people have 5-10 Shepards to import only to find out that the game is no longer about Shepard. In order to distract people from this, you get shiny skins of different races to fight in. You're still random soldier 11876, but ooooooh it's a krogan. Otherwise read "Not Shepard". Your 80+ hours of time and emotional investment mean squat while you have to spend integrated and unified time fragging cerberus with PotMonkey420, xXxX1447SnIpErXxXx, and Zephiiiiroth (but at least you're a Turian while you do it) in order to see and experience the game in its entirety.
Scream "You don't have to play it" all you want: Cohesive... Integrated... Unified... If you want to see and experience the game as a whole yes you do
Now believe it or not, I'm not against MP. I think that all these MP ideas are good, and could make for an enjoyable experience. JUST NOT HERE. I'm on the Mass Effect train because I want to finish the story of my Shepard(s) in the plethora of ways I have set them all up by the way I've had them behave through multiple games, not so I can have them shunted aside by infinite cerberus slaughter mode, or have it affected by my indavertant playing of a map as Asari Commando 6791.
