This is one of the features that made ME2 feel, to me, too gamey.

I am pleasedto say that those hologram icons are currently returning in ME3. Admittedly, this could change if teh Dev team feels they should go, but currently they are there.

will there be an option to turn them off?

EDIT:  Oops - thought topic was about the icons that tell you where u will go when you move out of cover etc Image IPB

Personally I like the icons, but I guess an option to turn them off can't hurt.

The icons are unnecessary, the coloured holographic sheathe is all that's needed to identify ammo types

I always felt there could've been better ways to let you know what ammo type you have on, like say changing the color of the lights on your gun, rather than have a big pop up hologram like those.

I never had this "problem" but i guess they could turn em off during cinematics.

This.

It was a small thing that annoyed me in ME2, especially when the holograms were still visible after Shepard had holstered the weapon.

It does take away from my immersion (and seeing it in cutscenes always makes me cringe).

I'd like them to at least disable HUD effects during cutscenes. This applies to glowing thermal clips as well as the ammo icons... for God's sake, I don't want to be distracted by these things while I'm supposed to be taken in by the "emotionally engaging" cutscenes. Give some thought to immersion, Bioware!

I love the icons. But I wouldn't mind if they turned off during cinematics or when holstered.

I love the holographics sheathe, I think it's an excellent visual indicator. I just never thought the icon itself was necessary, and I didn't like that they didn't morph to match my guns in their holstered shape. They just extended out beyond the end of the compacted weapons.

ITT: People whining over the most trivial feature of the game that's there because this is a game and not an interactive movie without HUD elements.

People are requesting not whining.  Learn the difference.

Personally I'd rather not have the sheath either.  I'm getting into making videos and I'd rather not have them in any featured project I produce and I imagine there are many who feel the same way.  Please give us a toggle for that and for hints.  For collection pieces such as the Normandy crash site I'd prefer the item count be placed in the journal entry if hints and such are toggled off.  You have the time and I think it can be done.

I never had a problem with them. If anything I'm glad they're there so that I know for sure whether my Soldier's guns are powered on with the right power or not...

I agree. Never understood exactly why only Zaeed, Soldier-Shep, and Infiltrator-Shep are allowed to use Disruptor rounds, but no one else can. Not sure how specialized training is needed to switch out one ammo block for another...

Thought they were a bit of an eyesore myself. The holo's around the barrel were cool, but the little bullet with a flame or what have you was unappealing.
