I am pleased to say that those hologram icons are currently returning in ME3.

Lol?

I guess that smiley isn't out of place sometimes.

For as long as team mates with squad ammo powers keep overriding my ammo choice, these icons will be an unfortunate necessity.

Anyone else remember how that hologram icon would actually show ammo counts instead, back in days before the game launched?

I kinda missed that... thought it was a little nifty at the time.

I think the helmet toggle needed to be put in place way more than this needed changed.

Oh wait. Cool!

people are really complaining about this? wow....just...wow.

I'm starting to think its the cool thing to do nowadays. Sad.

Possibly, if we were being obnoxious and rude, typing in caps and threatening to cancel our preorders. But we are not. We're being very civil about it in fact. It's a minor issue, but I'd prefer to see it resolved. No one will throw a fit if it isn't. No one that matters, anyway.

Don't mind them.  They're all about whining about other people whining.  Even if the title of the topic and almost all responses in this thread are actually formed in a method that clearly states this is a request.

it is a request. it would be nice. not necessary, but nice. even adding transparency to the icons would be lovely compromise

<--- has even posted an example of aforementioned hologram blocking a large part of the face of one of my femsheps - a femshep with larger face, mind you (face structure 3)

Yeah. That pic I saw earlier in this thread was pretty frightening.

Oddly, though, I can't recall ever noticing it being nearly so intrusive to me on my files. I need to start paying more attention or something, I don't know.

I always enjoyed the effect it had on the gun, what with the color scheme around it and all. Wasn't crazy about the icons. I myself thought they were a little big and slightly un-needed.

Transparency would be nice tho

I wish they'd either get rid of the bullet symbol, or change it to something else. I like the colored holographic interface except for that part. I don't really understand why there's a big silly picture of a bullet sticking out of the gun. You can tell which ammo is active by the color on the rest of the interface.

I actually liked the icons, but maybe Bioware could do something similar to the way the helmets work?
-Always on
-Off in cutscenes/conversations
-Always off

I agree with the OP, the holograms have ruined oh so many of my screenshots and they're pretty useless. :pinched:

Remove them.

How the hell they can block anyone's face?!

toggle for cinematics/conversations at least, would not be unwelcome

It's only blocking the nose.

Gun is blocking more of the face then that hologram.

And that only happens there in entire game.

A toggle would be nice, but it's really no big deal.

Or just make them vanish during cutscenes, that would work.

Paste them on the gun instead of being flying in the air

I guess I don't really play attention to small things like that on the weapons, I hardly notice it while I'm playing.

actualy - without the ammo power - you can see most of the face, lips included  and this is merely the worst of it.  but it happens more then once.

its not a huge deal, yes, its pretty minor, but...  it would be nice if it wasn't quite so.. obstructive.  some transparency or a toggle that removes it - I mean if they can make my shepards use a gun in cutscenes that they cannot use during gameplay (and consequently - not even carrying at the time) adjustice the size and/or transparancy of the ammo power should be relatively minor, I would think.

its a minor request for a slightly improved estetic.  I'm not sure why it causes such a negative reaction.

If you guys are gonna add icons. Let it be something more useful, like ammo count and clip count. So you wouldn't even have to add interface.

That would tie up more GPU resources than a 2d interface image, but I do supoprt removing the actual ammo-type image and just leaving the halo around the weapon.

In response to the poster who brought up the colourblindness concerns, that is perfectly valid and I apologise for overlooking it. A change to the shape of the sheathe to more clearly indicate the kind of ammo, or even incorporating the icon into the sheathe so it is laid flat against the gun instead of simply floating out in space would be a good compromise.

To those calling the OP and those in favour of whining and complaining... I really don't know what to say. It was a request, formulated in a civil manner, with evidence of its effects added at a later date. Yes, it is minor, it was never claimed otherwise. But what you must understand is the thing which separates great games from merely good ones is polish.
