anyone"
yes, but hackers dont come and ask for permission, they only take the data and sell it, or whatever. I dont trust any companie to secure my info. And there is no need to collect such info
if they "never sell your personally identifiable information to anyone"
And I have alrady enough programms that eat the resources of my PC wihle i play.
Apart form this OP I hope we dont need Origins for ME3 or the DLCs so I dont need to cancel my ME3 N7 Edition. But I think offline Mode works.

@Shinian2: Sorry, but I don't understand why this discussion is an off-topic. It is of course ME3 related and not off-topic!
If I decide not to buy a game because of the DRM or Origin or whatever this decision is related to this game. In our case ME3.

EDIT: Well Bioware announced how the multiplayer will work. And they didn't mention Origin. Hopefully that's good news.

Hmm. So it looks like closing the last thread based on this "info" we were supposed to get today was pretty worthless, huh?

I wouldn't get my hopes up because they failed to mention Origin in the context of multiplayer. They are trying to prevent a mass cancellation of preorders.
Based on what I've heard they were already panicked by the volume of canceled preorders, and don't want it to snowball by announcing the Origin requirement, which will be built in by the usual so called "free" day one DLC trick they usually pull: e.g. that "free" DLC will require Origin.
The "free" DLC for ME3 is the Prothean mission and teammate. And it's about as optional as Shale was in DA:O, which is to say, not genuinely optional if you want to play the game as it was intended.
Like Shale in DA:O, or Sebastian in DA2, this character, and mission, was designed in from the outset, but cut for the explicit purpose of extracting more cash from the fans as a DLC gateway.
Just remember in the future that when it comes to matters like this:
It's very easy to tell the truth because all you have to be is honest.
It's only when they are lying to you that they require more time to come up with a "statement". It's hard to keep all the dissembling that dishonesty requires consistent because you have to keep track of exactly what lie you told to which person.
Bioware is still working on their "statement".
Origin is a requirement to play ME3.

Hope that my rant does not land the topic right in black hole but i really had to write this because from what i saw and read about ME3 it will be a sad not to play it because EA likes to play Big Brother.
Best regards from Romania.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is, they were nice enough to tell you that they'd be collecting your info even though they don't actually have to tell you, lots of things collect your info without informing you, google, ebay, facebook, some anti-virus software, etc
It's these kind of responses that make me rage.
I don't want Origin on my PC.

Yeah, I'd love to know what genius at EA thought "Origin" was just the ticket for this new branding initiative.

You do realise it was the PSN account servers that got hacked, and not the game servers or consoles themselves?
Theres no reason why the same thing cannot happen to the MS servers which host your Xbox accounts.
I cant decide if I find it amusing, or disconcerting, that people are willing to accept rumours and FUD* as the truth without doing any actual reasearch into the facts themselves. Before complaining about Origin's T*C's, I suggest you go along and look at Facebook's, and then comment which is the more sinister.

Facebook: You are their product whom they sell to their customers (Advertising)

I don't need EAs Spyware on my harddrive. And I will not buy a new harddrive or computer just for playing one game. That's not worthy enough for a leisure time activity.
Well, BioWare. Where is your answer to the big question? Will we require origin to play ME 3?
Will we get an answer for this question? Or will you be falling in "the big sleep" again?

I don't have a facebook-account because of that! Any further question?
If we are the EAs customers, when why they are treating as like sheeps, they can shear as they want? Why must we install origin to play a SP-Game? Doesn't trust EA their customers? Why should we do this in this case?

You are aware that both Microsoft and Sony already do collect your data right ?Valdrane78 wrote...
Thankfully I do not have to worry about this, seeing as how I play the ME game son my 360. However, I feel for you as I refused to let my wife put her Sims games on my comp due to Origin.
It is nearly impossible to avaoid data collecting as soon as you are online, and frankly speaking I fail to see what the big problem is if EA knows my graphic card, my operating system or whom my Hawke is banging in the current playthrough.
