Is it time for gamers to get together and start an organized revolution in the gaming industry?

And I applaud you both for making that fair decision quite honestly.

I'm really sad about the lost of Skyrim because of Steam. So, it is a consistent decision but I didn't really want to make it. I don't like to be forced to use what I don't like. In this case Origin for ME3. I have all the retail versions here: ME1, ME2, DA:O, DAA, DA2. I would love to play ME3 and DA3.
But I also love my freely decision to play what makes me fun and not what makes me think all the
time: What the hell are they doing here? Why they are scanning my PC?

I'm not going to buy ME3 if i have to use Origin. I bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 on Steam and my save games are on Steam/Steam cloud. There's no ****ing way i'm starting a new soldier and downloading both ME 1 and 2 on Origin just to get saves over to ME3 on Origin.

I've already boycotted BF3 and i will do the same for ME3 if i can't use Steam as the download platform.
Have you seen how many bugs are on Origin and how sh**y EA's tech support is?

I bought BF2142 on EADM a few years back. I reformatted my computer and EADM became Origin so i had to redownload BF2142. The version that i paid for was BF2142 Deluxe. The version that they gave me was BF2142 regular and a tacked on Northern Strike. When i patch that version to the latest it doesn't give me the 1080p widescreen option or any means to modify it to 1080p like the proper BF2142 deluxe version did. So now my game is ruined and stretched.

All over BF3 forums Origin bugs are plaguing gamers too.  People can't activate their game. Others have mass lag issues. Origin.exe won't start. People have been sent game keys that have 1 digit missing so they cant activate. EA make me sick to my stomach. It's like they're out to ruin every franchise i've ever loved.
First the royally ****ed Westwood and Command and Conquer, then they ****ed Red Alert, then Battlefield and now they're about to ***k Mass Effect. Seriously building up some hate rage towards them.

Same here, only with LotR: War in the North. It requires Steam to activate. If I only need to use Steam to activate and I then are able to uninstall Steam of my PC, I can deal with it. If I need to start it up every time I want to play, that's a deal breaker for me. Then I may buy it on console.

I ask a very simple question.  What will you when they stop making discs and have to download everything?

IF  they stop selling games on discs, then I will stop buying games.  Simple as that.

So should everyone else.

Some funny protest: Protest gegen Origin = Protest against Origin - Don't give Spyware any chance.
The sign label on the wall means: data protection off (top) and on (down).

That's AWESOME! Let the revolution start!!!!

Agreed 100% Killjoy Cutter. I personally have stated to some buddies of mine that I decided to learn how to make my own independent games. Complete games without the rubbish. I hope most people here either follow this same step or take their own steps/liberties to make their own creations cause at this rate I'm not sure if things are going to get any better.

I think the problem lies more with the methods publishers use to distribute their games. If you link the game to applications like Steam and Origin, people might get pissed. But if I hear correctly, retailers like GoG.com for example don't do stuff like that.

Good man. Glad to hear of someone else putting their creative mind to use. I mean, despite the uginess that is Origin/Steam/etc. there are many alternatives. Getting back to Origin though, it makes me wonder why EA would try something like this NOW after all this time if its simply for the sake of competition. Of course I don't think it's simply for just competiton, I'm merely stating what I thought in my head.

Almost forgot to mention that Mr.Mida is correct in that games bought digitally from gog.com do NOT have DRM nor a client in which to run your games from. Simply download/install the game after purchase and you're good to go.

Wouldn't it have just been nice to have the 1 time registration of said game and then move on with our lives, I hate clients, I use Steam only because of the community and TBH, I'm not a huge fan of it either, they have many things "wrong". But I'll take it on Steam before I take it on Spyware...uhh I mean Origin.

Or maybe we should employ our talents in developing Steam/Origin countermeasurements...

EA  Origin, It really should be called EA's Organ. EA is trying to shove it down our throats, penetrate our personal space. They point down at it and say "Come on I know you want it, and if you want to play our games your gonna have to take it". I say we cut it off and shove it down there throats insteadImage IPB!

It's no where near as bad as actual rape, but in the computer sense, its not far off. EA wants to rape us with its Organ...errrr Origin.

I apologize for offending anyone, I just feel strongly about this and wanted to share how I feel.

Those guys from South Park really need to do an episode about how EA is treating their customers by forcing all this crap on our systems. I'd pay to see that episode! Double if I have to:wizard:

EA encourage piracy with their ****ty spyware program ''origin''. What EA is doing is illegal and i truely hope some countries will boycott their games so they lose more money then before.

Even a lot of people, who still buy the game to support Bioware etc, will opt to get a pirated version also to be rid of this mess and simply play the damn thing, if it turns out as dire as the predictions.

Considering the problems that are turning up, anything from Origin not working at launch, failure of the client to install, failure to recognise authentification, failure on the X360 to recognise online passes, DLC not working. I think the Origin is only part of the problem at the moment.

I'm a huge Bioware fan, but I hate the intrusion of Origin enough to wait on purchase. I didn't want the DRM mess of The Witcher, for instance, so I waited for the DRM-free purchase through GoG.

It's a shame to wait, but there are plenty of games out there, and I'll have more fun when I'm not bullied by EA.

I would suggest getting a console to play ME3 instead of a PC.

I doubt a lot of people are going to spend money on a console because EA decided to do a sloppy job with its download client. Neither do I see why people should spend extra funds simply to avoid Origin, as the money for ME3 goes directly to EA's pocket anyway and they just continue on the same line.

EA really only understands the language of money. As much as I support BioWare and as sad as it is, if you really want to send EA a message the only way is to not buy any more EA games. If sales start dropping, they'll start wondering what's wrong. THEN they'll look at the complaints people had with their games and maybe they'll change their current retarded policy.

I agree, but it seems like buying a console might be the only way. This seems to be a clear breach of privacy, and I'd rather not risk important information being taken from me.

I wonder if the Xbox user are not worried about the fact that these accounts were hacked recently. Imagine this: You buy the game incl. Origin for your box, Origin scans your box and perhaps it sends to EA your account datas but not only for the EA game, for the MS game too. And then some script kiddies will hack the EA server and then? They will get your EA data and your MS data or Steam or whatever.
I don't think that the Xbox or console player are really protected. I'm not sure, just asking.

Sandbox the game. Or resort to somthing less legitimate. That is the main issue with the DRM and client systems, potentially once one person has found ways round it or stopped the spying, it's across the net in a week and everyone knows how to do it. Which makes the whole saga of Ubisoft's always online DRM, system scanning a bit pointless really, as it doesn't work that well. My gripe is that I jump through more hoops and I'm subject to more invasive software If I actually buy the game, or do so without using the methods I mentioned above.

Those people are naive. Bioware is part of EA, and a big part of the money spent on ME3 is going to ea too. I also don't see why so many people see EA as the "bad guy" but have so much sympathy for bioware. They are one of the worst when it comes to cutting content and selling it as DLC later. Lair of the shadow broker and arrival are more important parts of the story than most missions were in me2, but aren't even included in the game! Mass effect is one of the best gaming-franchises and I even bought that dlc but that doesn't make bioware a fluffy-goody-goody company.
