STEAM'S DATABASE HACKED

www.meristation.com/v3/des_noticia.php

What it seemed a hacking attack on Steam's forum's wnet futher and was in reality an attack to Steam's whole Data Base exposing information such as usernames, passwords, e-mails, personal addresses, list of bought games and also encrypted credit card information.

Aside from the ethical and legal distrust/concerns/problems with Origins........ EA prentends us to cope with this kind of Risks?????

Old news tho ;)

Steam forced any account that got hacked to change pw's (any forum account as example) as they didnt got past these accounts, still advised to change any password....

But since i trust valve it guys more, theres a bigdamn nono that ea should do that (seriously, origin is already a horrible app, i dont trust your security)

Sorry, but I did find this funny. You say, you don't trust EA/origin security, but  you trust Valve.

Hackers gained access to the Steam database, which contains user names, passwords, purchases of games, email addresses, personal addresses and information encrypted credit card.

Point been Valve just got totally hacked and you say they security is fine?

So how can we trust these Valve and Origin softwares and accounts, if they can't even keep them secure. Why are we forced to use these unsecure systems, what breaks our privacy and security. Why can't we just say, no thanks. Then say I like to take care my own security and privacy, and not give it up to some game company.

Problem? Can't admit that you were wrong? You aren't a lawyer, don't claim to know the law. Even if a lawyer told you something and you repeat it, you can still be wrong because you don't know what you're talking about.

I don't have to admit anything in this case. i strongly suggest you read up on how law works in the various countries in the world other then your own.

Let's just leave it at that because this has devolved into a "You're wrong, No, you're wrong."-routine.

So it went further than the forums?

I'll be laughing really hard when the moment comes when hackers force Valve to shut down their servers and make everyone chained to Steam unable to play their games. It's sadistic, I know.

Yeah that would have me in stitches... all those gullable, law-abiding consumers paying the price for their commitment to honest trade! Damn their sanctimonious purchasing habits!

A quick visit to a torrent site to download a crack so I can play without steam would do the trick. It would mean 5 fewer minutes of game time that day though. The nerve of some people!:pinched:

Some people actually 'like' to impose order on their chaotic lives. I for one appreciate anything that provides me with a means to consolidate the disperate elements of my life - a perfectly servicable philosophy were it not for the unscrupulous whims of malevolent third-parties.

Ah man, my nerd/Lit major points just went down because of that.

Now I have to go back and edit it, and on top of it feel like a complete and utter failure at life!

You are right, allmost anything can be hacked.

How ever, privacy and security can be compromized ONLY if there is information to compromize it. Meaning why we need to allow some game company collected private information about us at all. If there would not be any information collected about us, there would be nothing to "steal". Hacking could still happen, but they would get nothing related customers.

Point is COMPANIES does design systems BADLY.

To play game the game customer only need access code to play the game. There is no need to transfer anything else. That access code is only thing what company and player need to share. Company doesn't need to know who has the code, they only need to know that same code is used only ones.

Hear, Hear! ...and the sooner consumers start to take the sanctity of their personal data seriously, the sooner we can dictate the terms of purchase!

Thats steam for you

And i love it as i am very bad at keeping my cd's and their boxes together (thats why i have an old and long txt full of keys...including some from ea[ye, i dont allow your games to phone home, interesting what basic firewall reacts to, dating back to future cop])

And also why i have a prepaid credit for steam only....

Origin on the other hand... thats where the "wants everything to know"....

You and me both. I can't ... *looks at eyes* stop looking at that and just roaring with laughter.

And he did get it right with the post though, I heard about that Battlefield 3 No Origin crack for people who bought the game retail but didn't want to use Origin... mmmh. No doubt someone will do the same for ME3... IF it has Origin... which.... bleh.

EA Germany invited to an open forum. I hope we get things done and it's not all just useless talk.Though I don't know how much influence EA Germany has on the mothership...
