What would keep the asari from helping Shepard fight the war?  I highly doubt they would be in a conflict with another species, and the only inter-species problem I can think of is pureblood racism or Ardat-Yakshi.

Hmm, good question. I'm gonna guess that with them, they'll actually start out receptive and cooperative, but it'll be an alliance you can screw up, rather than a case of them saying "Before we'll help, we want/need this."

The asari aren't a very unified species, iirc. In peacetime, it works very well, but in times of war that system just breaks down. I think that's why they are so desperately trying to avoid war at all costs. /speculation without consulting Codex

I don't think the Asari have a problem! They'll likely be attempting to aid Shepard in corralling all the sheepies together to fight the Reapers. They are millenial galactic diplomats, after all.

On second thought, the Asari would probably be attacked FIRST by the Reapers for the aforementioned reasons.

Letting the Rachni Queen survive and curing the Krogan might potentially scare them away from committing forces against the Reapers.

Tough to say at this point, though.

The Pureblood fractionation of there society.

You can hear a bit about this on Illium but basiclay its a bloodline debate. An Asari born of two Asari parents is more likely to be an aridaot-yackshe (SP?) and other birth defects. Whereas an Asari that is born form one Asari and one other race is general stronger.

I guess it's Aethyta VS the rest of the asari matriarchs. :P

Also uplifting the Yahg (if you can) might make them unhappy considering that first contact team they massacred probably had plenty of asari in it.

1) Killing Samara(justicar), when she meets Shepard after arrival, or killing Samara to save Morinth.
2) Letting the council die.
3) Working with cerberus.
4) What SandTrout said.
5) Shepard working with the geth.

Doesn't have to be a long-lasting issue; it could be something that happens during ME3, for instance.

Yeah but since the asari have been a main race for the whole series they would have a problem that has been mentioned at least once.  Remember how many times in the first two games you heard about the Krogan genophage and the hostilities between the quarians and the geth?

If Morinth was left alive, do you think that she might make the other 2 Ardat-Yakshi rebel and fight against the asari.  Morinth was powerful enough to hold her own against a justicar for 400 years so 3 of them terrorizing the asari homeworld could be a good distraction.

Soo, is cheating on VS going to be added to charges against Shepard on the trial?

There are more than 2 AY, there are only 2 AY in that particular seclusion. AY are about 1% of all Asari so if there are billions of Asari... But hey if THAT is what Morinth is going to do, I will help her and AY will help me fight the Reapers.

Their indiscriminate breeding habits have left the species docile and content to spend their time pole-dancing and arguing politics on the internet.

It's just that all of the asari's problems seem a little too personal for one to think they'd be crucial on a galactic scale. But you never know.

Which makes me realize that here on BSN we're all Asari.

If Thessia is under attack, it could just be they're more bothered by that than Earth.

Eh, haven't the Asari basically given up all their military "rights" to the Turians? >_>

Asari are also slow to take action towards things- after all, they tend to outlive most of their problems. There's also the fact that the majority of asari are still immature or self oriented. [At least, according to the bartender's attempts at reform.]

I think their problem is that they're far too docile. They don't know how to properly fight a protracted war, since their primary source of combat is through their commandos.
