I'd certainly love to see ultra high resolution textures, especially for ME1 (particularly if it also happened to fix Garrus's facial textures, since his are always set to minimum as of the latest patch for PC).

Thanks Koomazaz, for pursuing this possibility with BioWare. I hope they decide that it is indeed feasible.

There is a fix for that actually. I used it on my last playthrough.

I was just looking into this today. This would be awesome, as most of us I believe are doing extra playthroughs for ME3. There's plenty of room for improvement in ME1, I dunno about ME2 but anything would be more than welcome.

Also, if any of the devs are going to put any spare time in ME1, it would be nice of them to fix the key generation system for Bring Down the Sky. We shouldn't have to deal with EA customer support to get our keys.

Yes that would be awesome. Maybe a sort of pre-launch thing for the fans?

If they did this I would be so very grateful. SO VERY GRATEFUL.

Every time I see the low resolution armor on the Blue Suns and other enemies I cringe.

In the meantime, this guide is really good to do some tweaking yourself for ME1: http://www.tweakguides.com/ME_7.html

I don't know how people lost interest so fast. This IS something I've been waiting for a long time!

You can tell Bioware that at least one addict would be willing to see this as DLC (assuming reasonable price)  - though I expect there'll be a chorus saying how we're entitled, shoulda been from day 1, etc., etc.   No opinion on that but I believe people ought to be paid for their work and that includes the texmodders upon whose work they will build (I am not one of those, btw.)

This is a great idea, and BW ought to seriously think about bringing its masterpiece to as high a polish as possible - if only for pride of workmanship, and the energy, effort, and - will say it - love that has gone into its creation.

sort of on-topic, what graphic cards r better da AMD ones or da nVidia ones?

May be a bit late in this, but there are a couple of reasons i'm now regretting going with an AMD (ATI) card earlier this year - though at the time in my price point, there was no nVIDIA competition that was worthwhile. ATI cards seem to not like TexMod, suffering from frame rate issues in ME2 (from minor to major) - even when not loading any mods, just starting ME2 via TexMod. Also, ATI cards do not support Ambient Occlusion, so you miss out on some better graphics because of it (most people are forcing it on via the nVIDIA CP - can't be done in-game).

Apart from that, they are much the same at what ever price point you are looknig at - but specifically for ME games that you can use TexMod with, I'd lean towards an nVIDIA card (currently looking at a GTX 560 Ti myself, the 570 is a bit out of my price range :( )

Hope that helps, if of course you haven't purchased by now.

Now to get back OT - Would absolutely LOVE for the devs to release Hi-Res packs for both ME1 & ME2, something more integrated than having to load textures via TexMod would be so much nicer.

Please Devs, make it happen :)

Ambient occlusion is supported by ATI, it just can't be forced from Catalyst like it can for nVidia owners.  That is not a support issue, it is an implementation one from Bioware.

Well then, coulour me incorrect, hehe. Thanks for the calrification :)

Wish AMD would enable the forcing of it in CCC like nVIDIA do in their CP then...

No argument there!Image IPB

I have an ATi HD5870, and I enjoy Ambient Occlusion in my Call of Duty titles.  I had to go check to make sure I wasn't remembering incorrectly on that, so no worries.

I like this idea but i would rather prefer Bioware made maybe two years after ME3 release a sort of
ME: Trilogy Edition. with:
-ME1 with enhanced graphic and all DLC included,
-ME2 with (if possible enhanced graphic and ME3 innovations) + ALL DLC
-ME3 with all DLC
A sort of Ultimate edition....it would be a day 1 purchase for me.

I support this.

Also I'd like to see a review of ME1 & ME2 gaming style and story line.

Thinks I want to see in a "MASS TRILOGY EDITION" are:

- Reviewed explorable planets for ME1. More life please, animals, trees, you name it. Even the garden worlds looked like greenish moons. Better add some plants & stuff here. Make them looking like the planet in "Overlord".

- Reviewed assignments for ME1. Since each base looked nearly the same and all you could do was "shoot X and grab Y", they got old over time. I'd like to see them on par with ME2 assignments. They weren't too long but the team tried to give each mission an unique feeling

- Reviewed gameplay: thermal clips, segmented health, regenerating health - in short ME3!gameplay
--> Planetary exploration should grant access to resources, but also scanning
--> Resources can be sold or used for upgrades
--> Upgrade system ME2/ME3 in ME1
--> ME3 equipmentsystem in ME1

- Storyline: Cerberus arc needs to be added as intended by developers. Side quest like Overlord.

- Plot holes need to be removed in ME2

- More main missions, recruiting & loyalizing should be more integrated into main story line.

- Better character development & more background

- LI story arcs reviewed

- VS story arc included in ME2

- All DLCs included

And I'm fine ...

@OP:
I would pay the price of a full game for the original high-res textures and a way to use them in my games.

@CptData:
The chances of that are around zero. They'd need to (re-)create a lot of content. Basically, it would be almost as much work as making a new game.

Indeed.

I'd buy a reboot-ME-series. Okay, actually, I would give a lot to be part of that team re-creating the series :lol:
Mostly writer's staff, character development. Miranda is on my top list of characters I'd like to explore more / give more background, quite next to Ash and Kaidan.

So what would we pay? $150 seems about fair but would the market support it? (there's a lot of rework being proposed here...including bringing back the VAs, etc - not like it all can be done virtually - and all this stuff is so far only for the PC market - I wonder if the new gen of integrated gpu-cpus will find their way into the console market - that would certainly incent the devs to look into something like this.

I actually when was suggesting the trilogy edition was not thinking about a story reboot but just some graphical/gameplay enhancements and the inclusion of all DLC. The majority of the works should be done on ME1 to put it in ME3 graphical quality. I would pay a full price to have ME1 with ME3 graphical redesign.

Since ME3 will be released on consoles they can simply redesign the first two games as they have done for ME3. I think it is a good opportunity to let PS3 fans play ME1, secondly people that do not like buy DLC will definitively purchase this edition to have all that they have missed, third hard-core fans will buy this edition no matter what...maybe story redesign is too much....even if some fixes to make the entire saga coherent wouldn't be bad

This is a good opportunity but maybe BW will wait for the next console generation....i really would like a definitive edition...anyways

 DO THIS THING, BIOWARE.

...and possibly the other thing, the All-In-One thing.  That would be cool, too.

 ...and I've never understood this "I can't use TexMod with an ATI card" thingy.  Got a 1Gb Radeon HD 5770 and - aside from a bit of a longer load time - not a single problem ever.  EVER.  Game runs like a top, average 50-some odd frames and that's with everything by Jean-Luc loaded - not the mid-sized textures - the Ultra textures - and I usually run the game in 1920X1080.  Not a stutter anywhere.

Maybe it's a memory or processor problem?

BioWare, I would pay cold, hard cash to have high-resolution textures for Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for PC.
