But it is still a good bit of fun to be had, and is better than a lot of other things you could buy.

Yeah, definitely worth picking up for that. And I say that as someone who felt DA2 was a rather weak and cartoonish parody of DAO. It DOES have its good points. Unfortunately, I have a subjective and viscveral dislike of some of the changes from the formula that made DAO so good IMO.

There are plenty of things I thik that are bad about it. The recycled enviroments, how I think BW went from on end of the spectrum to the other end with the combat, and how two of the seemingly importent characters got almost zero development and just got put there at there end.
I have also had many a discussion with other forum users that have been able to articulate the other reasons why they thought it was bad. In a far more meaning full manner then "beyond words"
That is why I know it is not beyond words. That is why I know its just another person waving their arms screaming "I didnt like it so its bad" and that means nothing to me, many other forumites around here and most importently to BioWare.
How is a company supposed to do anything with "its bad. No I cant tell you why"

DA2's worth $20 as it is 1/3 of a game. Fair is fair.

For example, if the combat system in DA:O was a little too tactical and brain stimulating as oppose to it being more "sensational" as some would call it in DA2, they could have easily amended this without having to oversimplify or redsigning characters & skill sets by just amending animations & time line.
Whoever designed DA2 has try to do it only from the Story foundations of Dragon Age Orign, but has completly changed everything else just so that the game has it's own uniqueness and individuality.
Why should it? It's just a sequel?!!!!!? They should have just call the damn thing Champion of Kirkwall or Dragon Effect or Mass Age and turn it in to another fast tracking franchise. Only then it will have merits of being worthwhile playing. I stoped playing ME2 without finishing it and I don't see myself forcing myself to keep playing DA2 either.
Anyway, Is it worth $15? I'd say no, because I wouldn't have bought it even for that price.

In other words, lower your standards the rest of us generally use for Bioware games, and you'll enjoy it just fine. Pretend it was made by a different company that isn't known for making quality RPGs.

You can like also the fruit but if you wanted a pizza you are going to tell: hey this is not what i whaited for..
With this i want say don't expect a DAO2, DA2 its an action adventure game that can be fun but in contents and in the gamplay its just not dragon age..
And if this you add:
Recycled areas
Ridicolous japanese hot rod samurai anims.. with flashy strile and teleport attack..
Toon of Bugs
A extremely linear story whit the complete lack of choice that matter
Ennemy that appears from nowhere many of them fall from the sky like paratroopers
an Meh art design
Worth buy for 15? no.. whait until you get it free from some gaming magazine and you save your money

Ignore the haters. I think many because they had such a fond connection with the first game felt betrayed by the sequel. But if you're just looking to play the next fun game that came by, totally worth it.
The game feels somewhat different, but more fast-paced than Origins. But if you still enjoyed elements of Mass Effect 1 and 2, then it is definitely worth it. For me, the game should've been called Dragon Age: Kirkwall with a Mass Effect flavor.
I'm pretty sure the game is still selling typical retail value at $29.99. And let's face it, you're probably curious enough to get it eventually anyways. So don't pass up that offer.
In terms of basic gameplay, the only real drawback was the repetitive environments. If you can get passed that then DA2 is better than 90% of the market.

Exactly. So, OP, don't buy disappointing mediocre RPGs and buy DA2 instead because it's great

-each of the 3 acts are essentially self contained
- the plot contains enforced failure at several points
- the main plot and endgame play out exactly the same regardless of past player decisions
-the dlcs are very good.
If you're a fan of the Dragon Age IP you might find it worthwhile. Otherwise, skip it.

What other games can you get for $15? If you can get other games for discounted prices as well, then DA2 loses its appeal.
Here's a questionaire:
1) Do you like seeing reused maps in dungeons, caves and indoor dwelings? Do you like to see close to no variation in every cave you enter?
2) Do you like to talk to your companions only when the game tells you to? Do you enjoy not having the ability to talk to them anytime you wish?
3) Do you like the feeling of not having any impact on the game world? Do you relish seeing the same outcome for just about any decision you make in the game?
If any of the above is a yes for you, then you should buy this game.
Better questions to ask yourself are:
1) Do you enjoy playing games with cool graphics?
2) Do you enjoying playing games with a great story?
3) Do you enjoying playing games with incredible combat?
4) Do you enjoying playing awesome games?
If you answered yes to any of the above, Dragon Age II might be for you.
lol only the combat is good. everything else about DA2 is trash. dun buy it or else you will end up being another pissed off customer. save your money for elder scrolls 5. it comes out November 11 of this year
