   I've started work on a small (for lack of a better word, let's call it a) PW for a group of friends. It uses a fair bit of my custom content, not that any of that garbage can hold a candle to the work I routinely see on these boards .

   The setting is a world devestated by some unknown catastrophe (Spellplague? The Mourning? Celine Dion Concert?) and effectively circling the drain. In the past I've used all my own tilesets, creatures, props, etc. but due to current circumstances I don't have access to my trusty GMax. So, the world is being built from Project Q and Six's WildWoods.

   So, now to stop windbagging and get to the point: how precisely could I mix what little of my content I have with Q, would the Q teams hunt me down and burn me, stab me, mercilessly tickle me or whatever for trying, and can anyone suggest interesting ideas for a vaguely "post-apocalyptic" NWN?

   Bugger, that was a bit much.

Suuuurrrre! How about a Final Fantasy 5 kind of idea, like say, when Abeir and Toril clashed all hell broke loose, and the big bad gods of both halves are uniting to dominate the whole new world! It worked for Dissidia, it worked for Marvel's World War 3, and it works if you want to frak a campaign setting. I would go as far as to imply Ao's great idea to unify Abeir-Toril has made a mess of the entire realmspace, and so you could bring Greyhawk, Ravenloft and Planescape into the mix. How cool would that be? Imagine having the Lady of Pain duking it out with Torm, while Artemis Entreri works for the dukes, and Strahd becomes lord of Westgate! The possibilities are unlimited.

Post Apocalyptic, eh?

How about the total destruction of Magic? Magic no longer functions, only items that were created to hold it do now (and when they are used, it is gone, forever).

The Gods have been displaced, and walk Toril as normal mortals, forever.

Realmspace has been cut off, and so are the Planes. Toril is isolated...

Let the war of the demi-humans vs the rest begin! Survival of the fittest!

So what caused it?

How about the Keys of Creation were found, and used...causing Toril to fall into a rip in the fabric of Reality. It sucked all the Gods into it as well.

Ao is not amused! He got mistreated by a handfull of street urchins in Waterdeep!

Ideas -
Cities are next to non-existant.

Villages and Shanty Towns are the norm
Villages come under constant attack from the beasts of the wilds. (respawning npc's, and guards etc)

Dynamically changing cities.
eg - When a battle or siege starts on a city, then certain placeables and music effects are chosen.
eg - Besieged City would have lots of fire, red fog color, bodies everywhere, and hellish music.

When the siege ends, revert the area back to starting state
Imagine chapter 1 Neverwinter from the OC.
and then
Imagine Chapter 4 Neverwinter from the OC.


Add natural disasters such as World Wide earthquakes etc (I do this on my server - really just target the players and apply the shake effect to them).

Also think about custom music,
If the world is Post Apocalyptic, then you want gothic scary music.
I recommend some of the music from Legacy of Kain game series - you cant get darker than that.
Since that game series was post-apocalypse, it fits.

Perhaps, the elves are taking humans as slaves, you know for all the pointy ear jokes.
Halflings are cannibals.
Dwarves and orcs are now friends..
total chaos....

Halflings and Dwarves going cannibal reminds me of the Planar Sphere from BG2.

Dwarves got trapped inside, and needed to cannibalize people to survive.
Food Shortage = Reason for the Cannibalization.

As far as I know, Q not only has no problem with you mixing in your content (provided credit due is credit given), but would like nothing better than for you to do so. So, you're playing right into their hands... er, proceeding along with their acceptible use policy ;-)

I don't speak for Project Q, but I am an avid follower...

Cannibal Halflings. Damn it, now I got to see if the sun's gone black. As for cities, currently I've just got one, a bunch of shanties built into a broken bridge. I'm using Ozar Midrashim from LoK as the main theme, too.
Rolo, thanks for the information. Good to know everything is JUST AS PLANNED.

My impression is that the Q team only doesn't like for it's haks to be changed or Q content being put into your own haks.
