Diablo.
I used to play as a Rogue (female archer class half way between warrior and mage) and wanted a good name for my character. ~Sylph~ (pronounced: silf) seemed to fit perfectly as it's an air elemental or a slim graceful woman. Also, as a child when I would practice archery with my father, I always imagined this as the sound that arrows made. When I'd go places on the internet that didnt allow for tildes in names I'd settle for the name in this current style (both styles attempting to simulate wings). Though I have and have had other on-line handles this one just feels more like mysylph.

My Shep (+14 nerd points). Plus, a good friend calls me "CDR" which is short for "Commander" in the space shuttle checklists. He and I both want to be astronauts, so he calls me "CDR" and I call him "MS1" (primary mission specialist). Thus "CDR" Sky Shepard. Lol.

Firefly reference.
It also means "little sister" in Chinese. That's why Simon calls River "mei mei."
Dunno if you knew or not, just popped into my head.

Mine comes from the intro of the 2nd edition board game version of Bloodbowl. Bogsnot was the Orc chieftain who had "just won the nose picking contest with a deft over and under flick when one of the scouts came bursting into camp".
It dates back to when I signed up for NWN, as at the time my normal moniker (MrDamage, named after the song) had been pinched by someone else. Couldnt think of anything, rummaged around, dug out the instruction manual for Bloodbowl, and there it was.
The 1 was added because I couldnt rememebr the email address I used on the original forums. Have since rediscovered that email address, the account is still valid, but cant be arsed getting EA to transfer the game details across.

Unless you happen to be named Mangiraffedog, there's a good chance you put in a bit of effort creating a name that fits either your personality, history, or simply a reflection of yourself. Where did yours originate from?
I just thought it up the day I made an account here. It had a bit of a lame-o feel to it when I created it but by now I've definitely got used to it and feel some kind of attachment to the name!

I am Scotts/Irish. My Last name begins with Mc - the Scottish pronunciation is Mac. My peeps call me Mac for short, something I really like because it was my Grandfathers name.
My first name is Anthony - Tony for short. Tony Mac. Tonymac

This was only meant to be temporarily...
I hate Elton John, so I came up with "Elton John is Dead" I originally had an account before this one but I lost the password and don't even remember the username.

Slidell is a parish near where I live. Well, across the lake, I like the sound of the name. The 505 is because I assumed Slidell was taken. I'm a pessimist; which is a terrible way to live your life, if you were wondering.

I hate coming up with nicknames. I looked around the room and saw Final Fantasy 13. Light and snow. I also like that it could be literal, light snow falling. And 13 is...well from FF13.

Lol. I like this. I sometimes did this. Came up with Alken. Ended up using it as a name a couple of times.

I originally registered at the old BioWare forums shortly after Knights of the Old Republic came out, and I didn't think I would really be sticking around so I just used the name of my first character for that game (which, in turn, was randomly generated).
I regret it now, but I suppose even if I could I probably wouldn't change it (although it would surely be tempting); I always figure that any chance of people having any clue who I am vanishes if I change the name.
