I stripped Jowan and Lily during the Magi origin on my last playthrough... it was entertaining. I could just imagine my character rolling her eyes and thinking, "ugh, you two, this is not the time..."
Does anyone else strip Daveth and Jory?

I really wish you could sleep with Daveth sometime before the Joining ritual. My female Wardens always have huge crushes on him.

I don't strip Jory and Daveth, no. You do get their gear anyway, after all.
I do naked Landsmeets occasionally, now, though, so Alistair doesn't steal Lifegiver and my Warden Commander and/or Morrigan doesn't steal the Magister's Staff. Those jerks.

No, there's no need to--you get their stuff anyway. And fighting with people in their smalls really takes away from any feeling of immersion.

First non-origin NPC to flirt with the female Warden! I snicker every time he goes for the "Heh, I'll watch your back" line.
And I don't strip NPCs. Zevran has a funny line if you try to send him away and then say no-something about how you probably intend to take all his equipment away first.

Absolutely, I quickloaded and stripped them as soon as I realised they were expendable and only there to show how dangerous the joining ritual is. Plus, it made it seem much more realistic to have them stripped down. Pretty sur ethe only thing you couldn't keep was Jory's sword but it's been a while now so I might be wrong.

I haven't done this in my first two playthroughs, but I will on my third, just for the hilarity factor. Maybe I'll strip everyone just before important cutscenes...

I strip them before the joining and sell their gear. I also strip my gear off, but keep it. That way all three recruits are in there skivvies for the joining ritual- making it part of the ritual. And yes, you do gain an extra sword form Jory that way.

Absolutely! I'm still bitter over using a level up tomb on that clown with my very first character.

The only NPCs that you don't give up their equipment after they leave are the tower guard and mage during the Tower of Ishal dungeon. Everyone else's gear shows up in your pack after they die/leave.

You also don't get any of your companions' gear after the death of the Archdemon, of course. I'm not sure you get Jowan and Lily's gear either, and I'm also certain you don't get Soris', Tamlen's, Merrill's, or Fenarel's gear when they part ways. Yet for some reason Leske not only gives up all gear but also gets an extra set of leather for his Origin end scene. Not sure if Mom gives up her stuff when you leave her behind in the HN Origin. Also note that Alistair doesn't surrender the gear you gave him before he storms out of the Landsmeet (took my bloody Superior Drake Plate with him!), nor does Morrigan surrender anything before running off as a wolf... So if you don't strip them before they go, you do lose their stuff, metagamimgly-speaking.
But I still find stripping them rather hilarious despite the undeniably adolescent humor, even if I weren't fully intending to make off with their items regardless. Lots of belly laughs with naked Joinings, emerging naked from the Tower basement with naked Jowan and Lily to say "This looks bad," waving goodbye to a naked Merrill in a crowd of fully-clothed Dalish, being told I'm his hero by a Soris I've robbed of all his belongings right down to clothes on his back, and, of course, the mighty Loghain finishing off the Archdemon in the nude and fully erect ("Well, if you're that excited to be the one to kill it...")

Did this thread manage to come back from the dead for the second time? Truly, it's a sign from The Maker.
Back on topic, I seem to remember equipping Jory with a Chasind Robe, so that he's wearing a dress when he loses his nerve during the Joining. I think that's actually funnier than him being naked, if somewhat more adolescent. (I have done the Strip Joining thing though, and yes, hilarious.) Anyway, in answer to a previous post that you don't get any new equipment you give him back, I seem to remember having the dress put back in my inventory, minus a big hole in the stomach that one would expect to see under the circumstances.
