How do you get from adding something customers might like to insulting customers?  I don't understand.

Well, as a thinking human being I think anyone above the age of four should find this incredibly insulting:

What I see is one guy, interviewed on the fly, months ago. And an edited video.

And I find midly insulting that because I do not feel insulted, but only slightly amused and facepalming a bit, I must have the maturity of a four-year old. Not everyone is that sensitive. Honestly, that meme is getting old. And now that I've watched that video more attentively, I'm not even sure it's founded.

I really, really think that it's time to move on, either by clearly voicing what [general] you want to see/not see in the next DLC / game (possibly without vitriol, because vitriol is never a good argument) or simply quit the franchise altogether. But in that case, coming here to complain, insult Bioware, the game and the players and throw tantrums is absolutely pointless (and very four-year-oldish, IMHO). Clinging to a grudge that badly is... weird.

To illustrate the need for moving on:

They're not only making a game they know their main fanbase isn't going to enjoy, but also insulting the action game fanbase <snip>

They are not making any such game that you know of currently. They made this game months ago. And some would even say they didn't make the game you describe.

You seem to believe that every RPGers have felt betrayed by DA2, that we all hate it. That we can't possibly love RPG and like this game and consider it an RPG. That is not the truth. Some of us do. Some of us love it, some of us only like it while acknowledging its flaws, some of us dislike it, and some hate it. We're individuals, not some hive mind controlled by a mysterious RPG Cerebrate. And neither is the so-called CoD crowd, btw.

Case in point: you say they lied about the compared depths of the games. My opinion is that both games are as deep (roughly), only in different domains. So did they only lie to you and not to me? Or is my opinion dismissed as invalid on the sole ground that I liked the game, and yours becomes a fact?

Now, on a totally other note, as a European, I've never seen a Taco Bell. So I feel left out and I'm now gonna sulk in the corner :P

Instead, think of yourself at a buffet type restaurant. The restaurant has done a study of the kinds of food enjoyed by people in your area, in your state/province, in your part of the country.

Even as an analogy, this makes me sad.

It's almost as if you're admitting that DA2 was created by a focus group

I already doctored that out of the post. I didn't mean to personally attack anyone, I was just being hyperbolic.

Though the point that Bioware has horrible marketing still stands.

Clinging to a grudge that badly is... weird.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course. The main purpose of this thread was to make a point in a mildly original, hopefully humorous way. I'm not claiming that Bioware owes me blood money, here. I don't see how this thread implies I hold a serious grudge.

You seem to believe that every RPGers have felt betrayed by DA2, that we all hate it. That we can't possibly love RPG and like this game and consider it an RPG. That is not the truth. Some of us do. I'll just point out that the sales figures for Origins were double those of Dragon Age 2. Sure, a lot of people liked the game. More didn't feel it was worth buying. If you enjoyed it, I'm happy for you, no sarcasm.

Case in point: you say they lied about the compared depths of the games. My opinion is that both games are as deep (roughly), only in different domains. So did they only lie to you and not to me? Or is my opinion dismissed as invalid on the sole ground that I liked the game, and yours becomes a fact?

Honestly, I don't think this is a matter of opinion. Origins had more complexity to it than Dragon Age 2. Origins allowed for more potential character builds, more ways to handle various problems, and the crafting system was... a crafting system.

Now, on a totally other note, as a European, I've never seen a Taco Bell. So I feel left out and I'm now gonna sulk in the corner :P

You don't have Taco Bell, America doesn't have decent healthcare. I think you win this one.

So I waste my time reading an analogy of the same stuff that's been repeated on here over and over and over since DA2's release, and to add insult to injury said analogy also makes me very hungry.

This is the worst birthday ever :crying:

It was a misleading title and I demand Bioware Promotion offers through Taco Bell as Justice for this deception.

Well there's always Christmas! ... unless I'm on the naughty list in which case I'll get a book of Dragon Age / fast food analogies instead.

  Hey!

I've compiled a list of  Taco Bell's flaws:

1)Recycled ingredients. They use the same fajita wraps over and over.
2) Waves.  As soon as I finish eating a taco, 10 more tacos fall from the ceiling, right on my head.  That gets annoying after a while.
3) You can no longer engage in dialogue   with your friends when you're in the restaurant.
4) Employee animations are wacky and over the top.   I mean, the service is really fast, and that's good, I suppose.  But  does the guy at the register have to jump 20 feet into the air and do a backflip before he takes my order?
5) The restaurant itself is small and lifeless.  There's the main room, then a small bathroom, then the food prep area.  And that's all.  Certainly not enough exploration for a 50 hour visit.
6) The ending sucks.  When you're done eating, you toss your wrappers and napkins in the trash then you leave.   And that's it.  No one sees you off, no one  says Goodbye.  Even the exit door is  unimaginitive plain glass.

Actually... The Taco-burger hybrid monstrosity sounds good, except its made by taco bell and therefore only tastes 88% of delicious. As for the analogy, it's 88% accurate.

It's the two gallons of -awesome- fire sauce that bring out the 88% of deliciousness.

Hi There! I'm Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall! You may remember me from such adventures as The Deep Roads expedition, Defeating the Arishok in (King Cailan voice) GLORIUS (end voice) combat and fancy Orlesian dinner parties. But when I'm not out giving a Bandit the ole' what for I am at Taco Bell, enjoying this delicious Commander Chalupa meal. MMMMMmmmmm Man that's tasty! Oh! and for a limited time offer if you enjoy this meal as well, Bioware will give a redeemable promotion code for this Legendary Weapon, the Sword of........ Truthiness... Yea! So Hurry now before this offer expires!

Warning: item recieved from code may vary, only available at particpating restaurants.

The most frightening part is that I could actually see Bioware marketing thinking this is a good idea.

Ah, had to wipe some soda spray off of my monitor. But that commercial style is very retro. You have to think modern, man!

"Feed the need with a Taco Bell Champion Chest! Complete with two Templar Tacos, a Kirkwall Quesadilla, and a Lyrium Soda! Each meal comes with a random code, giving your champion booty in the world of Thedas. Don't just play the world of Dragon Age 2... live it!"

Honestly, imagine that in an epic marketing voice in a commercial and tell me you can't see the Bioware marketing people going for it.

Hey, I just get the Nachos Supreme, thus avoiding this taco-burger hybrid issue entirely. :P Personally, even if I don't buy into the analogy as applied to ME3, this qualifies as one of the more humorous and entertaining threads on the subject. EDIT: WOOPS, forgot what forum I was in - I've been hanging out in ME3-land. Let me amend that to add in a hypothetical DA3.

Oh for ****'s sake, this tired misleading and inaccurate meme about the "Call of Duty" thing.

One developer made one comment saying that they want to point out how RPGs are similar in terms of specific features to the most popular game franchise in the world, and suddenly it's evidence of a tactic to get MW fans with DA2. I'd spend every second of my internet using energy fighting this stupidity here if I thought I would actually make a dent in all the dumb.

It's not a newsflash that a lot of games from wildly different genres with wildly different fanbases share features, especially when they are as ubiquitous as stat and gear progression.

Seriously, it's the worst and it won't die.

No, I'm not defending BioWare marketing.  I'm attacking using the goddamn Call of Duty quote as some sort of smoking gun.
