To be fair, TIM wasn't created and written by Martin Sheen, and then included in a DLC after Bioware found out that said well-known person was a fan of the game.

To be fair, neither was Tallis.  They approached her.

That... doesn't contradict what I said.

Yeah. I mean - who wants celeb DLC? Like Joker or TiM or Admiral Hackett..... Thats just insane. Why would you bring real talent to a DLC - thats just crazy talk!

And to think that its optional! Pffft! It should be a prerequisite! Before you buy ME3 you have to get some celeb DLC!

Man, this thread is so inspirational! I think I'm going to go cancel all my preorders from every game company specifically because BioWare /EA/Rocksteady/Bethesda might create totally optional DLC that will undoubtedly offend my sensibilities in some manner. That, and they all inexplicably refuse to provide fluffy pillows upon which to rest my royal buttocks! *sarcasm*

Well this thread on their Bioware network seems to have offended you already so your half way there. Keep going the finishing line is in reach.

Well, your responses are usually good for one thing: a nice long laugh. And now I'll go have that giggle resulting from this one.

What does it matter who does the VA, as long as it's done well? If it's someone you recognize as "That guy/girl" then it's an added treat.

Unless it's someone you don't like. But that could happen with unknowns as well.

I must say this this entire community has become inundated with over emotional, stodgy, ne'er-do-wells. Now we complain about celebrities? What is wrong with the celebrity voice overs? Mind you Felcia got propped up on a pedestal for dragon age, but in my experience with bioware they take on these voice actors for a reason. Tell me the illusive man would have been as masterfully executed if Martin Sheen wasn't behind it.

For a group of people who seem to look down on other gamers, you folks are incredibly thin-skinned and a change in the direction of the wind seems to draw your ire.

only if everyone on this board shared your outlook we would get fewer RAGE posts or posts that complains about the smallest things which would not bother most people.

As far as i'm concerned the game could use a Patrick Stuart DLC, it'd be fun.

Well if you count that then most VAs who voice a squadmate in ME2 is a celebrity, and yet no one makes such a huge fuss about it. Especially considering there are actors like Keith David and Martin Sheen (who have major roles in A movies, unlike Felicia) voicing recurring characters with large amounts of dialogue. In terms of gaming/sci-fi credentials, how does her resume even register compared to the likes of Claudia Black, Adam Baldwin, or Jennifer Hale?

It's like your brother bought a new Toyota and you freak out because he's being too extravagant.

While I liked MotA well enough...

It really surprises me that people can't tell the difference between "Bioware game character with a known actor doing the voice and/or character model" on one hand, and "fan character whose creator happened to be famous then being included into the game because the creator is famous."   Most of the complaints seem to be about the latter, not the former.

At least go off on someone for what they're actually saying.

Bioware, Neil Patrick Harris DLC for Mass Effect 3. Make it happen!

Barney Stinson travels into the future and picks up chicks in the Mass Effect Universe.

DLC will include: 5 new suits and fashionable ties, 1 copy of the Mass Effect Bro code and 1 wingman of your choice.

BioWare, if this doesn't happen, I'm cancelling my pre-order.

on a serious note tho, really? People are threatening to do this even though half of the cast is made up of celebs much more popular than Felicia Day? (No Offense to her, cuz I actually like her.)

Make it so!

No, but serious: As long as the DLC is good, who cares if there are celebrities in it or not?  I bought "Mark of the assassin" because the DLC sounded good and not because of Felica Day (I barely knew her).

Yep - I honeslty don't see why this is even an issue when we have had bigger names voicing characters in the games proper. Then again, with irrational overreactions abounding in the forums, it's not really much of a surprise to see an "I'm going to cancel my pre-order because of <x> (unless BW changes it)" demand/threat/rant.

I agree. Though in this case, the latter would be considered a canon immigrant now.

Have to say i enjoy the actors they've got on board. Sheen, Starhovski & Black are all top quality actors and it really shows in their work in my opinion. Been playing Mark of the assassin tonight too and Felicia Day does a good job as far as i'm concerned.

I think some (certainly myself) are in the dark about what the bold bit refers to. The OP certainly doesn't make it clear. What's MotA?

Forgot to clarify I'm fine with real talent but  Felicia Day is not real talent she is just an e-celeb and a friend pretty much summed up what the last DA2 DLC was "Felicia Day DLC".

By celeb DLC I mean DLC that is solely a promo for some person, the biggest feature of extended storyline shouldn't be which big name you got to stick in the credits.

Lets not forget the great singing talents she showed in Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog with NPH. Speaking of NPH, let me second (third, whatever) using him in the future.

And Nathan Fillion. Gao the Lesser DLC anyone?

I'm totally going to preorder and then cancel the preorder of EAware decide to create a totally optional DLC that I never have to buy and download. So there!

Seriously though, I was put off a bit by the Mark of the Assassin DLC. I thought Tallis looked odd. I also am not interesated enough in DA2 to buy more DLC. So I didn't buy it. What'sa the problem exactly?
