I always did like General Patton's:

“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”

I can imagine that must have been quite the rallying cry back then. Naturally it would need some modification to better suit the setting of Mass Effect.

Some dues ex machina machine has caused the entire Reaper fleet to be unresponsive, not unlike Nazara after his avatar, Saren, was killed
The entire Alliance, Turian, and Quarian fleet lines up in formation, with Normandy at the front.

"There will be a time when our great civilizations will grind to a halt. But that is not this day!
There will be a time when we are nothing but fossils in the ground. But that is not this day!
There will be a time when our spirits turn to nothing but ash. But that is NOT THIS DAY!
This day we fight!
FLY! FLY NOW! Light the engines, load the missiles, raise the barriers, ready the guns!
For life, for liberty, for all of organic life!
CHARGE!!"

Missiles, mass accelerator shots boom away at the helpless Reapers while violen music plays.

Curse you, I was going to write that!
Oh well, you still get a cookie for referencing my favorite speech. :wizard: Although you took out a line or two.

Eh, it makes sense but Patton is an overrated fool.

I agree.

Yet the line was still impactful (and apt, at the time), regardless of what history makes of him.

I loved the speech he gave to the Normandy crew in ME1. Moments like that are welcomed.

I think I'm the only one who likes "we fight or we die, that's the plan"

I like it too...never understood all the hate on it.

I think that sort of line is best when the real plan goes sideways and then only for that individual battle ..... I.E. if you think you are just attacking a Geth base and a Reaper comes out of hiding and someone asks what your plan is then you can get away with "we fight or we die, that's the plan".

As the outline for the resistance to the Reapers in general I doubt that's very inspiring.

BTW:  I like some of the ideas from the first page.  Dorky but the "Shepard is coming" ... "Look for the Normandy" ... etc. would be cool to see if done right.

They need to plagiarize Churchill:
We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land, and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be.

On topic, I agree with Kaiser, we should have more people than just Shepard giving speeches, if anybody. It isn't one-on-one Shepard vs. Reapers, after all.

 I was watching / listening to that on my iphone on the bus and halfway into the video some guy two seats down from me starts cheering "Yeeaah!" and applauded. So... yeah I guess that would work. ^_^

Either that or he was very excited about the next stop that was coming up.

The reapers are only machines and all machines can be broken. Its time to remind this fact to these hunks of junk who think they are above and beyond all. Let's reap the reapers. All armies attack!
