Honestly I am far more disturbed by the forumites who feel the need to belittle and bash others who are free to do with their money whatever the hell they want to do with it. It has bugger all to do with anyone else how they spend their money or even if they carry through with what they claim.

Go spend your own money and stop worrying about other peoples spending choices. I am not going to pre-order and I never do.. So what, my money my choice. If I had ever pre-ordered and cancelled it even after said was going to cancel it, again my choice. I will (probably) pick up ME3 because it's the end of the trilogy and although have concerns about certain issues and in the pro / con list the cons are many, they simply do not right now outweigh the pros so for me yes I will probably buy it.

Bioware probably also won't get any more money from me for foreseeable future because they are not making any product or have plans yet drawn up for any product that appeals to me other than ME3. So what? My money, my choice.

It's like the "I'm quitting" posts on the WoW forums. They want attention to get their point across or for the sake of attention. And it works as far as attention goes, but no one takes them seriously.

Setting aside $80 for a game that doesn't come out until March is a whole lot of commitment.

It's why so many men are cancelling their pre orders we're afraid of commitment.... That was terrible, I know, I should be ashamed.

Worst joke ever.  Go sit in the corner.

But seriously, the only reason I pre-ordered is because I have the money set aside NOW and I'm such a dunce that I'll probably forget to pre-order later and BAM!  No more N7 editions/fancy pre-order content.  That pre-order is gonna get cancelled the minute I decide I need the money more than I need ME3, though.

Who cares whether people cancel or not?

I don't care that people cancel their preorder. Games are expensive and money (particularly these days) is hard to come by. If you are upset with the product, by all means, do so.

But don't come on here and start thread number 9785859048404348390389 because you're upset by whatever has your panties in a twist now. Because, as I said before, I don't care.

I'm not canceling my pre order, but the constant will they won't they come clean on Multiplayer was seriously making me think that canceling and waiting until it was released might have been a better option.

It's not so much the anger/butthurt/whatever but the constant dicking around by Bioware. If the game was always going to have MP in it, just say so and stop avoiding the question.

Now that they have confirmed what type of MP they are going to do I'm happy to sit on my pre-order and enjoy playing it. I was just annoyed at all the nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean rubbish by Bioware.

Actually, it's quite effective. EA announced in their quarterly that DA2 had shipped 2 million units, along with Dead Space 2. Which means they hadn't even sold 2 million units months after release, while DAO sold 3.2 million units.

EA didn't meet expectations, hence, they got the message.

Further, it will force EA to change.

-DA2 may never have reached 2 million units sold.
-Dead Space 2 may never have reached 2 million units sold.
-Shadows of the Damned sold absolutely horribly, not even 1 million units.
-Bulletstorm underperformed.
-NFL 2011 sold 1.4 million units in it's first week, down from 1.6 million in 2010.

EA's getting the messages, and if people keep sending them, EA's *going* to change, or they'll fail and the IP's will be bought by someone else who'll do them justice.

Or the consumers will start to tolerate mediocrity. and they'll start buying the ****. Ergo, this bs-tolerance for multiplayer.

Haha, yep terrible joke. Anyway

I didn't pre order as I rarely preorder things anyway and I agree £70 is a lot of money for a game, which seems solid, but the extra bits don't entice me sufficiently to consider spending an extra £30 or £40 on it. Some seem nice, such as the extra costumes, specific weapons etc. But, the rest not so much, particularly when they usually end up releasing more DLC of a similar kind down the line, when I can pick up the game at a lower cost. If I decide to go the PC way Origin is the only thing which has me somewhat iffy, simply as they have been so vague as to what is going to happen I'd prefer to wait until I know more.

As far as multiplayer goes, I don't have a problem with it, they haven't released a lot of detailed information and it seems to have been kept seperate from the SP without compromising the campaign or the co op itself, whilst the asset system in Sp campaign looks like a good addition. I actually like this concept quite a bit, so I'm interested in finding out more on this, I just hope it doesn't end up as a "fill the bar exercise" rather more strategic in its implementation, if so it looks promising.

I think I'm happy to wait and see how things progress for the moment.

It's very simple: you support a game company by buying their games. If you do not support them, you do not buy their games.

I'm really not seeing why so many people are having such a hard time understanding that concept.

OP knows what he's talking about. Every time a new game comes out, so do the "BRB cancelling preorder" posts. And every time, somebody soundly defeats their logic (or lack therof). Good on you, OP. You have my respect.

this is starting to sound just like WoW forums...

/sadface.

there's plenty of logic in choosing how and when to allocate your money. collector edition extras? the only non fluff thing about them is the extra character. and even then. that mission/character is both unnecessary to finish the game and will eventually be available for separate purchase as a DLC.

I waited to buy DA2. what I've been hearing about it, despite enjoying DAO gave me enough red flags to decide that n, its not worth paying full price for. and it wasn't. and I got to play it, but I also got to buy a few extra games on steam sale with the money I saved from not buying DA2 at launch.

bt wait, I forgot in our NOW NOW NOW culture waiting for better bang for your buck.. is apparently illogical and god forbid people actually think before they buy then newest thing out, the moment it comes out

Question, how do pre-orders work now that you give them all of the money up-front for the game?  I've never had to do that anywhere.

Not all places require full payment for pre-orders. Amazon, for example, allows you to make a pre-order and only charges you when the item actually ships.

Some stores will only charge a small fee (like $5 or so) to place the pre-order...and will keep that fee if you later decide to change your mind.

I cancelled my pre-order because my dog pooped on my floor. It's Bioware's fault. They should have given me more "discipline" options instead of railroading me into the "praise" choices.

"This hurts you." yet?

Sorry, lame I know but I felt it needed to be said (blame Harbinger for being a broken record, not me). :?

Generally, it's best to let people engage in self-defeating behavior when they are so inclined. It merely marks them as defective humans. Why concern yourself with their welfare, OP?

tbh there are many reasons why
1) Origin and it's violation of privacy.
2) Jennifer Hepler who apparently cares more about gay status of Shepard than fate of the universe and her infamous quote during/ or after Dragon Age 2 development "I wish there was a button to skip combat".
3) Shifted focus to multiplayer gives people doubts that they'll develop good single player experience.

The list goes on and on.

Now before you start bashing me for this, please keep in mind that these are not my personal opinions, but just gathered information from various sources. I personally want to play it but I have not pre-ordered it because I will wait for reliable reviews.

oh please it's the same as cod people say they won't buy it when the game comes out there the first in line.

In this instance, I disagree. Many people who cancelled don't play shooters and multiplayer shooters because they don't like them. Why buy a game you don't like? Because its a "Mass Effect" game? People who cancel and eont play will just send their money on another game or something else, seeing how the story ends on Wikipedia and YouTube.
