How to import character from Mass Effect 1 to Mass effect 2

I have finished Mass Effect 2 and liked it so much I hunted down a copy of Mass Effect 1 Now I would like to import my character from Mass effect 1 to Mass effect 2 and play 2 over How does one do this? I used the Mass Effect configure utility but I am not having any luck with it. I got Mass Effect 1 via a down load from Origin Does anyone know how to do this???? need help Thank you

If you downloaded from Origin then that suggests you're on a PC; this is a 360 tech board. That doesn't preclude any help from us here, just that I don't know enough to help you with the import on PC. I would suggest the PC tech boards for more expertise help.
