I'm trying to use the problem reporting format mentioned in the sticky. I haven't seen other posts about people having this issue with MotA, so making my own thread:
I'm playing the physical disk version of the game.
Version for executables listed as follows:
DragonAge2.exe - v.1.03
DragonAge2Launcher.exe - v1.01
DragonAge2Config.exe - v1.03
Uninstall Dragon Age 2.exe - v1.00
Here are my system details:
Configuration Utility | Summary Tab
* Intel® Core i7 CPU 920 @2.67GHz w/ 7.99GB Physical Memory
* ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series 1.0GB VRAM w/ Catalyst v11.9 Drivers
* Logitech G930 Headset w/ v. 6.1.7601.17514 drivers
Configuration Utility | Platform Tab
* Microsoft WIndows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
* DirectX 11 (Jun2010) or later
Here are details about my problem:
While playing the Mark of the Assassin DLC the game freezes up when the party arrives at the Duke's mansion. Once conversation is initiated, the cutscene video eventually freezes up while the audio continues to go on. If I alt-tab out of the game, I notice there is a message saying my video drivers stopped responding and were reset. If I try to tab back into DA2, the game crashes and I get a message saying the program has stopped responding.
I've never had any serious problems with Dragon Age 2 before and this didn't happen until after I installed MotA and tried to play it. I even recently finished the Legacy DLC without any problems, so I'm assuming it's something to do with this DLC. None of my other games are having issues if that matter (Crysis 2, Deus Ex, Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, etc.).
Also, this only seems to happen when I converse with the Duke and it always seems to happen right around the time I ask him about the merits of wyvern poison. I've tried this 3 times and had the same result every time.
My version of the game has no mods installed.
One side note: I recently purchased Rage and due to their absymal PC launch downloaded AMD's hotfix drivers to increase performance in that game. I thought perhaps that was causing the issue, so I uninstalled the ATI drivers and manually removed any driver references from the registry and appdata folders, just in case. Then I reinstalled the old 11.9 drivers. That did not fix the problem.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
