No. The only way I see to follow that up in an interesting way would be a prequel or sequel around Tan, not the pc. Assuming you got his story out of him, what happened before Path of Evil was explained, and he explains what he plans to do once you are done (assuming the player didn't screw him over immediately post campaign, and gave him what he wanted from you). I'll make a thread on it if enough people care and didn't find out.Shallina wrote...

Eguintir Eligard does have a point though. Perhaps if less people were producing enormous epics (some of which might die before being finished), and more were producing short but good quality modules (like Jezla9's mini-modules Humble Beginnings and Lowena), then modules would be trickling into the community at a faster rate.
I'd be just as happy playing ten good one-hour modules as I would playing a single ten-hour module - especially as the chances of the former being well-polished and bug-free are probably greater than for the epic alternative.
In terms of quickie modules, I was thinking that we could have a fun little New Year's deadline contest to see who could build the best short module that makes use of Fred's countdown timer at least once to complete the quest. What do you think? Perhaps have multiple categories: funnest, most well developed, most original, &c. The editors can always merge them into their respective campaigns later on.

As a builder, if you're concerned about community activity or lack of downloads, then you're not building modules for the right reason. You build because you enjoy it, because you want to tell your tale and weave an adventure. Fifty players downloading and playing a module is a lot better than never releasing it at all.
Build because you enjoy it but if all it becomes is a number game to you, move on and find whatever it is you will enjoy spending your time on.

I don't think that's the case though it might be
Tsongo has a high rate too I'm thinking you have a good mod with a different angle that people want to play. Trinity had a simliar rate when it was on the top 15. Things slow once the mod goes HoF I think.

I don't think that the community is dead, but surely shrinking. NWN2 was out end 2006 and wasn't that highly praised. So many players have likely moved to other games.
Anyway it is still among best modding tool if not the best. A modder can really invent a story, put characters interactions, draw maps, set fights with a lot possibilities. Personally I have always dreamed of a NWN2 like toolset on top of the Jagged Alliance series, but I'm fine with NWN2.
I do mods first for the fun, otherwise I would be totally crazy. Family already considers me a bit crazy!
Yes I do it first for myself, but nervertheless I do take care of the players. Otherwise what the point in trying to provide alignement based features, influence, plenty of choices for dialogs, and even as in 16 Cygni choices of classes and races for the companions. What's the point in implementing additional players ideas? It means more time to develop, more time to test, more risks for bugs.
Yes I do not want to be worshipped everdy day as a living god of modding , but I do appreciate some feedback from time to time. When nothing is posted for weeks except spams, remain only the dl counters to fuel the motivation.
When the dl counters look frozen, frustation is about to come. Especially when you have released a long mod, which represents much efforts. Yes a small mod can be fun and a large mod can be boring, but since they are not differentiated in term of classification, it increases even more the author's frustration, because he might feel that his work is not recognized. As for me, I have issued 2 campaigns, one in French in two parts, about 36 hours of gameplay, one in French and in English in 3 parts, about 55 to 60 hours of gameplay. (I can tell you it's really not easy to translate into a non native language).
So, I rather understand Eguintir's feeling. BeyondThePale and the team are doing an awesome job. However the Vault can't do everything for the exposure, and lack of exposure can kill even the best mod. A well rated mod in the Top NWN2 mods, but a small amount of dl. What could it mean :
- too much 'competition' for a more and more limited audience?
- are people reluctant to dl and test large mods?
- do they fear that the conclusion never comes?
- is the mod visible enough?
- is it the beginning of the slow death of the community?
too much competition : there a large number of quality mods relased. So what, who complains, even if there are less players than before? Lot of free stuff to enjoy with.
are people reluctant to dl and test large mods? : perhaps, short mods can be fun but don't forget that if you want a strong story, a feeling of progression and interactions with companions, a long mod is required. So there should be an audience for long mods.
do they fear that the conclusion never comes : perhaps but they are very fews mods released by parts. And to check that the conclusion is already available is easy.
IMO exposure is key. The Vault can't be the only source of exposure. If other forums do not highlight the existence of a mod and do not advertise about it, the mod is clearly not exposed enough. I don't know what's going on in other countries, but in France NWN2 is clearly considered 'has been'. In addition as it was not a Bioware game it was necessarily a second rate game. Some friendly sites put news about my mods, but no one ever tried them nor gave even a minimalist review. Bottomline a 9.68 rated mod in the int'l section, with 51 votes, released more than 3 years ago and despite the very limited offer in French, is still missing hundreds of dl to reach the HoF threshold. As for its Part II, well, it will take forever.
Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, I'm too old for that. Besides all my stuff is very well rated despite the quality of 16 Cygni's translation. Yes I do care and I yes I am pleased. And yes it encourage me to continue to mod. And yes I would be pleased even more if all my 5 16h to 20 hours gameplay modules rated from 9.33 to 9.81 (English and int'l pages) were HoF instead of only one in the int'l section. That simply would give my work more visibility.
I might be wrong but I don't totally believe authors who write 'Hey, I'm just doing it for my own fun, play it if you wish, but I don't care about your feedback'. Of course it's their decison but I would say they perhaps fear negative feedbacks. As previously said, I might be wrong.
It's too easy to write, 'oh this guy is complaining because he would like to have the highest amount of dl'. I'm just wanting to stress out that something well appreciated but with not enough exposure and receiving a minimal feedback from the player's community can really make the author think : 'perhaps the game is dead, why should I invest more efforts in it, even for my own fun?
Which doesn't mean that the author will give up. Courage, Eguintir.
Players : if you want more and more quality mods, do not forget that authors are only fueled by your feedback.
Sorry if I've been too long.
@PJ : impressive job. Just do a favor to 16 Cygni, take the dl from the Int'l page, the English page is just a dummy with only the presentation.

I agree for this reason it frustrates me that just 2 or so % of downloads brings a response, but they are good to get when they do. Good bad or indifferentif they help improve me then I like to hear what people have to say. The votes are important too, they get you onto the listings. I do this because I want to but I like to think I am getting out to lots of people. As Claudius33 said, exposure helps a lot in that respect. He also said:

I do! unfortunately my ambition is hampered by a lack of any god like talent
A few more graphs like that and we;ll be back to 10-20K downloads in no time! Mabe a nice pie chart or scatter graph, you know, something festive for the upcoming holidays... I don't know... the sky's the limit!
Do you know I think you might be right. Here's one showning the breakdown of dl's for week ending 9th October for the mods I check. I think you can clearly see it means absolutely naff all but the colours look nice against the blue?

but then i'd go silently without insulting members or writing **** about the oh so dead community. the entry at his blog should be enough for him to draw a line. there was absolutely no reason for this thread. if nwn2 is dead for him then he should move along... knowing that there ain't (and probably never will be) a real contender within this league.

But seriously some good points have been raised about exposure and something that springs to mind is that unless you know that the bit on the vault that says top NWN2 modules is a button you might just think that's all there is, a lot of mods could get missed very easily and people could get put off seeing the same ones too. I for one didn't know it was for ages until I was wondering where things went to when they disappeared from the top 15.

As I say this to you I am reminded of the time I was almost killed in battle were it not for the kindness of adventurers like those above. At the time I had been hunting a minotaur in the ruins of Myth Drannor when I was ambushed by my quarry. It charged and I turned to run and was impaled in a rather delicate spot by it's left horn. I rode that beast for what seemed to be days, weaving in and out of the chambers and hallways of the crumbling ruins. 'Twas not until a party of adventurers happened upon me that I was rescued from my precarious perch. Of particular note was the lawful good paladin leading the group who slew the beast without hesitation despite some rather crude remarks and calls to leave me there by the party's neutral evil sorcerer.

First, I haven't read EE's blog, but I've read enough of his posts about Islander over several months to know that his expectations for feedback, in my opinion, too high to begin with. No one is going to get fame or fortune from writing NWN2 modules. No matter how well they are made or how much of your blood, sweat, and tears you put into them. Couple that disappointment with a sometimes sourish disposition anyway and you get threads like this one, which aren't really anything but a shout-out.
Second, while I'm glad that the OC Makeover has turned out to be fairly popular, I think that my work on both King's Festival and the MotB Makeover was superior in every way, and neither of those is even listed on the charts at all. Nada, Zip. A little disheartening, of course. But that is just the way it is. No point crying over it.
Lastly, I've spent far more time on Gems of Power than on anything else, and it is still primarily in the planning stages. I've had a lot of fun trying to set the campaign within the 4e world without violating the published canon and taking advantage of things hinted at in the texts that were never really explained or resolved. When it is done I suspect that the chances are that even if people are still downloading modules at that point it will be very unlikely that many of them will be knowledgeable enough about 4e to really appreciate all of the connections to canon. Even so, I'm having fun planning it all out. So my advice to any modder is just find something that you enjoy modding for your own sake and do that. If you are doing it only to satisfy others you will end up unhappy with the investment in time you have made. Modding NWN2, like so many other things, is a journey, not a destination.
As for fake EE, I'm going to say that I think it in poor taste. EE has been a member of the community for a long while and contributed and deserves respect for that. I don't find mimicry to be respectful. Please stop.

Good fellows of Keep Bioware, and my brother in arms, Eguinter Eligard, hear me now! My stay has been short but memorable and I have indeed enjoyed your fine hospitality. I do hope many of you have enjoyed my tall tales and banter. 'Tis a bard's duty to bring a jovial light to the shadows when they emerge from the dark corridors of such a Keep. Should Equinter Eligard or any other fine adventurer have found my performance in poor taste then I do sincerely apologise.
I must admit that I had come here not only to perform but to also complete my final quest. Surely you have heard of the mighty sentinel that stalks the lower levels of the Keep? That warrior of immense proportions who wields the fabled Hammer of Ban? Well 'tis with him that I am destined to do battle.
Before fate calls allow me to impart some of my wisdom in the hope it aids you in your quests.
1. Never use your bag of holding as a chamber pot. 'Tis too easy to forget what you have put in there.
2. A codpiece can never have too much padding. This is one injury you can do without.
3. The answer to the Djinn's riddle is not 'what?'.
4. If she's a succubi then chances are the relationship will be short lived.
5. Make sure you pack enough rations. cockatrice do not taste like chicken.
Do not mourn for me when I am gone.
