Hi everyone,
After not playing for a while since completing the campaigh i purchased the mark of the assasin dlc and installed it. However when i come to load a saved game it is sayin`g it cannot load as the dlc black emporium and exhiled prince are unauthorised. This seems odd as I had no problem with either of these dlc's while playing the game previously.

Any help would be much appreciated

Under your Registered Game Content tab does it list Emporium and Exiled Prince?

I'm having a similar problem. I was able to play 7 days ago, but now since purchasing MotA, for the past two days the game says the server is unavailable and so of course the MotA DLC is showing as 'unauthorized'.
(I'm thinking it won't be authorized until I log into the game through the server?)

All my other DLC is fine, and all accessible.

same problem here. trawled through the forums for insight, but found nothing that works.
on a positive note: i enjoy both the dragon age and mass effect series and, despite my serious misgiving about e.a. (from past experience of customer "service"), am looking forward to the next bioware hit, sw:tor.
but: unfortunately the problems since da:o with dlc show that the very legitimate concern for bioware to ensure that only paying customers can play their products has also created a very real problem for those same customers. i agree with paying for games, indeed i insist on it, otherwise i believe they'll no longer be produced. but i also insist upon being able to play those games with a minimum of hassle. having now wasted 3 hours trying to get mota + the 3 new equipment packs to be recognised as authorised, i am in no way happy with the present system.

AFAIK, there is a widely distributed Beta of ToR in legal testing by end users, if you are interested. Bioware's / EA's amateur versions of DLC downloads and license protection have been bad since the start, although many other digital versions of their products do not appear to be any better, and some perhaps are even worse.

The same failures have continued all along, so there are already many message threads that cover an assortment of work-arounds. I don't like the entire concept of DLC as currently promoted, and do not buy it. I read much of the message traffic that is generated by these problems, but frankly, haven't tried to remember the answers.

In order to properly access the forum archives, it is best to just ignore the site's included Finder, which was created as a broken tool, and never repaired. Use Bing, Google, Yahoo, or any professional quality search engine, then add the site redirector to your search criteria:

well, i decided to try bioware's support chat. the first attempt was professional but ended with a clean re-install that didn't fix the problem:
Hi, my name is Rodney. How may I help you?
2401259107: hi
Rodney: Hello
2401259107: i purchased the new dlc for dragon age 2 (mark of the assassin + the 3 new item packs) and installed them. however the game does not recognize them ("not authorized")
Rodney: Okay
2401259107: on my bioware social page they are listed as available and linked to my account (mbradley@gmx.de)
Rodney: Okay
2401259107: that's still the same account under which I play the game, so no change there
Rodney: Alright
Rodney: I would like to advise you to visit this link and perform the steps : http://support.ea.co...n Dragon Age II
2401259107: those were the steps i did to install the dlc. unfortunately the last step is where the process is failing - the game lists the dlc as "not authorized"
Rodney: Okay
Rodney: In the meantime, I would suggest that you follow the below given troubleshooting steps: - 1. Please end all background tasks to prevent conflicts with other programs. Click the below given link for instruction on ending background tasks: http://support.ea.co...detail/a_id/39/ 2. Empty your Temp folder to prevent file conflicts. Click the below given link for instruction on emptying your Temp folder: - http://support.ea.co...detail/a_id/44/
2401259107: ok
Rodney: Alright
2401259107: so, what step next? my anti-virus prog. is now down, I'd like to get it back up as soon as possible...=)
Rodney: Okay
Rodney: Now give a try to the game
2401259107: all 4 DLC are still unauthorized after I log in. How long a wait should be necessary, before they're flagged correctly?
Rodney: Okay
Rodney: It seems that some corrupt file has occurred to your game
Rodney: I would like to advise you to visit this link and manually uninstall the game : http://support.ea.co...ll dragon age 2 and after re-install the game and if you still face the same issue then feel free to contact us back
2401259107: i was afraid you'd say something like that when you mentioned corrupt file. *sighs* ok then, here's hoping it helps
Rodney: Yes, it has worked for most of the players
2401259107: ok, wish me luck. thanx.
Rodney: There is no need to be worry perform these steps and if you still face the same issue then feel free to contact
Rodney: All the best
Rodney: You are welcome
Rodney: I am providing you a 15% discount coupon through which you can purchase any ea game from origin store
'2401259107' disconnected ('Concluded by End-user').

the second support chat was ended when the supporter bugged out whilst i was typing:
Pushkar: Hi, my name is Pushkar. How may I help you?
2401259107: hi, i have a problem with dlc purchased for dragon age 2. I've already tried a clean install (see previous question 111015-003163) but that didn't help
2401259107: in fact now all installed dlc is "unauthorized"
Pushkar: I sincerely regret any inconvenience caused due to this issue.
2401259107: so do i =)
Pushkar: Please refer the link in order to get help in DLC unauthorized http://support.ea.co... visble in game
2401259107: no, that's for dragon age: origins. the problem is with dragon age II
Pushkar: Okay.As I understand all your DLC are showing "unauthorized" on social bioware site

2401259107: no, they are unauthorized in the game itself. the bioware social site correctly lists them as being available and linked to my account. that's how i downloaded and installed them
Pushkar: They are not visible in game .Is that correct?
2401259107: oh, they're visible all right, in the in-game menu for dlc. however, they are listed there as being "unauthorized" and my old savegame files (i just performed a clean reinstall) can now no longer be loaded up, as the older dlc files (which had previously been authorised, unlike the 4 newest dlc packages) are now also "unauthorized". so the problem is now not just with the dlc "mark of the assassin", "warrior pack 2", "mage pack 2", and "rogue pack 2" but also with all of my other dragon age 2 dlc packages too.
Pushkar: Thank you for providing information. Please allow me some time , while I check it for you.
Pushkar: If you were facing any issue with the Dragon age 2 DLC ( Downloading Contents Unauthorized ) error, you may provide following troubleshooting steps:

Pushkar: Essentials:
DA2_BlackEmporium.exe
DA2_ExiledPrince.exe
DLC Signature Edition.exe
deda2drmV2.zip

Pushkar: 1)- Download DLC and Install

2)- Extract deda2drmV2.zip to a Folder

3)- Run the patchda2forunlockables.exe
(with AdminRights *The DOS-Box vanishes pretty fast either way. That's normal)

4)- After that you run the decrypt_all.bat
(with AdminRights if you don't get a log in the DOS-Box)

5)- Edit the Manifest.xml files with Editor/Notepad/XYZ
Dragon Age 2/addins/da2_prc_seb/manifest.xml
Dragon Age 2/addins/da2_prc_one/manifest.xml
Dragon Age 2/addins/da2_pro_col/manifest.xml
change in all of them
RequiresAuthorization="1" to RequiresAuthorization="0"
and save.

6)- Done. Play the game with "EVERYTHING" unlocked. Easy as Pie.
Pushkar: Let me know if issue still persist.
2401259107: where can i download deda2drmV2.zip?
Pushkar: The key file should be there in the social bio ware site for you.
2401259107: not as far as i can see. are you sure it's an official bioware file? looks like a crack to me...
Pushkar: I would suggest you to please refer the link in order to get helpful information in this issue. Also link provided is an un official link , so please proceed accordingly . [LINK DELETED - I'd rather not post a link to possibly virus infected and almost certainly illegal file ]
2401259107: hmm, no. thanks, but I'm pretty sure that would be a violation of the EULA
2401259107: i'd prefer an official working solution
Pushkar: Okay.
Pushkar: Is there anything else you wish to know?
2401259107: yes, when will there be a real solution for my problem? an officially sanctioned one. there must be some way for the bioware authentification server to send a signal that my game recognises, so that all the installed dlc finally becomes authorized (or re-authorized for the DLC that worked before my reinstall)
Pushkar: You would get the file after downloading and installing DLC . Then you could proceed further.
Pushkar: Do you have any more questions?
Pushkar: I am waiting for your response.
Pushkar: It appears that you are no longer available for this chat session; hence, I am concluding it. If you have any more question or concerns, please feel free to contact us again and we would be glad to us assist you further.
Pushkar: Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts support today.

Have a great day.

Bye and take care.
Pushkar has disconnected.

oh well, it's almost 2 in the morning. i'll try again tomorrow.

well, time for a third try this morning. this time a clean installed with deactivated UAC. didn't work though....

Hi, my name is Amresh. How may I help you?
2401259107: hi, this is my third attempt at getting DLC working for Dragon Age 2 working. i purchased the new dlc for dragon age 2 (mark of the assassin + the 3 new item packs) and installed them. however the game does not recognize them ("unauthorized"). since then I did a clean reinstall, now *none* of my DLC works (it's all "unauthorized")
Amresh: Thank you for choosing EA Games Customer Service. May I know your first name ?
Amresh: I sincerely regret any inconvenience caused due to this issue.
2401259107: I've now spent over 4 hours trying to get this stuff working. yeah, Mark is my name.
Amresh: Are you talking about bring down dlc?
Amresh: Thanks Mark.
2401259107: Dragon Age 2 DLC: Mark of the Assassin, Legacy, Mage Packs 1+2, Warrior Packs 1+2, Rogue Packs 1+2, Signature Edition Rewards, The Exiled Prince, Black Emporium
Amresh: Okay .
Amresh: I sincerely regret any difficulties you are experiencing. Please wait while I come up with something helpful for you.
2401259107: Before the clean uninstall and reinstallation of Dragon Age 2 I only had a problem with the 4 new DLC items (Mark of the Assassin, Mage Pack 2, Warrior Pack 2, Rogue Pack 2). Now *all* DLC for Dragon Age 2 is no longer working.
Amresh: Okay .
2401259107: sure, but only a real and official solution please. the official support worker i chatted with last night offered that i download an illegal crack from a warez site. that would not be a solution for me.
Amresh: Thank you for choosing EA Games Customer Service. May I know your first name ?
Amresh: I am sorry for my last massage.
2401259107: np
Amresh: May I know which operating system are you using ?
2401259107: windows 7 64-bit
Amresh: Okay .
Amresh: I am providing you few steps , please follow these steps and then install your game again .
Amresh: In the meantime, I would suggest that you follow the below given troubleshooting steps: - 1.
Amresh: I would suggest that you try running your system using the Windows clean boot option. That way you would be able to locate any program that might be interfering with the game. The instructions for clean booting your operating system can be found at the below given link: - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Amresh: 1. Click on Start 2. Click on Control Panel 3. Click on the "View By" option and select the Icon view (large or small options give the same information) 4. Select User Accounts (it should open into the account of the user who is currently logged in) 5. Click on the bottom-most option, which will be "Change User Account Control Settings" 6. Adjust the slider to the bottom-most option 7. Accept the changes 8. Restart the computer
Amresh: If the issue still persist, I would advise that you try installing the game using a new admin account on your operating system. For this you would have to first uninstall your game, which you can do by following the instructions mentioned at the below given link: - [FAQ LINK FOR MANUAL UNISNTALL INSTRUCTIONS] Once you have uninstalled your game completely, create a new admin account for your operating system by following the steps mentioned at the below given link: - http://windows.micro...-a-user-account Once done, restart your PC and login using the new Admin account then install your game. Try playing the game and let us know if the issue still persist.
Amresh: After then please manually uninstall your game.
Amresh: http://support.ea.co...l dragone age 2
Amresh: Please follow this link.
Amresh: Then reinstall your game again .
Amresh: I am sure your dlc will work after this.
Amresh: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
2401259107: hmm, I've already emptied the temp folder, stopped all non-essential processes and installed the game with full admin rights. when I start the game, with "full admin" rights for the game process (i.e. right click "dragonage2.exe" and start "as admin" to ensure that the game process has full rights for changing all files and folders) the problem persists.
Amresh: But apart from this I have provided some more steps like disable UAC.
2401259107: the only extra step you mention here is the windows clean boot. but as i killed all non-essential processes that should be unnecessary
2401259107: hmm, one moment, i may have overlooked that
2401259107: ahh, you mean no user accounts. hmm, as my user is a full admin that *shouldn't* change anything. but i guess it's worth a try. what happens if it still won't work?
2401259107: are you sure the authorization servers are working correctly. I play the game in english but live in germany. I hope there's no server-side new check that only authorizes german-language dlc for germany...
Amresh: Not this should not be an issue.
Amresh: If still your issue persist then please feel free to contact us again .
Amresh: And at this timer our toll is also down so I would not be able to do some thing for you .
2401259107: hmm. well I've invested a fair bit of time already. here's hoping that another half an hour will finally finish the problem. no offence, but what would be the point of contacting you again? this is my third attempt. if there were any other steps to try *other* than a reinstall, wouldn't you already have mentioned them?
Amresh: Please mention this incident number 1547447.
2401259107: hmm, as i mentioned incident 111015-003163 and 111015-004976?
Amresh: Yes I know .
2401259107: *sigh* well, i'll give the second clean install, this time with disable UAC a chance.
Amresh: Sure .
2401259107: ok, bye for now
Amresh: Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts support today. Have a great day! Bye and take care!

frankly i'm now beginning to get annoyed. with five hours wasted, at work i'd least have chalked up close to €200 by now. o.k., i admit, i wouldn't be listening to the fame monster in the background, but i would have had at least one or two successes by now. maybe i'll try my "luck" later - for now heroes 6 has arrived and i'm going to spend my free time on something that's actually fun.

Are any of you using PeerBlock?

I had to disable it to log into the server in DA2 and that fixed it right away.

Also rebooted for good measure but I'm almost 100% positive it's the PeerBlock.

Now that I look back I see a lot of items in the block list that should be approved that would fix the issue.

Hope this helps,

I'v recently downloaded the item packs and legacy DLC for DA2, only to find them "un-authorized". The way around this is when you have started DA2 and it has "contacted the Dragon Age servers" (in the bottom left corner of the screen) is to click "Log in" from the menu and type your email and password in and log in again that way. It has worked everytime for me for all DLC that had this issue.

Hope it works for u aswell.

*sigh* i wish it was a simple user error on my part. pretty much the first thing i tried was logging in then waiting; logging out+waiting+logging in+waiting; logging out+restarting game+waiting+logging in+waiting etc etc etc

I welcome. All the matter is that at me DLC doesn't remain at loading. It has been bought on an official site for points - and now to me it not to download at all from the account. Technical support is silent while.

Hi everyone. Sorry for not catching this thread and chiming in sooner. There's a mish-mash of issues here but let me see if I can provide a quick summary:

1 - If you're having trouble with the download or the installer, you can discuss it and follow the directions provided in this thread: http://social.biowar...0/index/8489750

2 - If Mark of the Assassin isn't showing up as authorized, make sure you log in at least once to ensure it gets authenticated. After that, you should be able to play logged out if you wish.

3 - If you're unable to connect to our servers, it's typically a firewall, antivirus, spam blocker, or modem / router problem. Tinker with your settings, dig through your server blacklists for anything ending in ea.com, reboot your modem / router, try turning your antivirus off temporarily, and join the following self-help discussion about these sorts of issues: http://social.biowar...index/6445527/1

4 - If you're unable to load a save because previously authorized content has become unauthorized, make sure you're not trying to load other people's save games, avoid installing any game mods, make sure you're properly entitled here on the social site, make sure you're logging in with the same account and password you use here, make sure the DLC is showing up in your list of installed content off the main menu, and make sure you're up to date with the latest game patch.

There are a lot of things that can possibly go wrong on your machine or network that we unfortunately have very little control over. Hopefully some of the above suggestions help. Your best bet with a lot of this is to keep your questions very clear, keep the thread on-topic, and seek out past threads where other users might have already found a fix for the problem you're experiencing.

Hope that helps,
Rob

well, my issue is now resolved. the fourth support chat checked and discovered that i was using the wrong e-mail address. not being able to upgrade an sw:tor preorder to the special edition version i had to create a new account and somehow these two got mixed. as it's not possible to merge accounts (which is just plain silly, but i guess it costs money to implement and doesn't affect too many people) i'm now juggling twixt the two. the good news, for me, is that the other account had all the dlc authorisations. am i glad, that they weren't divided up between the two.

anyhow, what with the amusing 2nd chat support (the one that suggested i download a crack) i at least have some new anecdotes for the lunch hour.

I had the same thing. All I had to do to fix it was just to reauthenticate my account in game.
