ME2 on the other hand was terrible. Nohotkeys for Journal etc, no mouse-wheel scrolling in menus etc, no right click to backup on galaxy map and no hotkeys for weapons (hitting a key to get to a weapon is quicker and more intuitive for most shooter fans as the weapon you want on the wheel may be several "rolls" away).
Hopefully the PC version of ME3 has all these like ME1 did.

Choosing squadmates or weapons was annoying. The other menus weren't any better but used less frequently.
Oh, and let's not forget mouse smoothing. The game controlled like Shepard after talking to one barkeeper too many.

Ya beacuse ME1 was optimized so good performance wise......<_<
XBOX version was even worse then on PC in performance.
So yeah, ME1 PC port is actually a good one.

Don't forget actual usage of keyboard shortcuts!

It doesn't matter if it really is a port or not. What matters is if it feels like one. ME2 on PC felt a lot more like a port than ME1, which actually was one.StarcloudSWG wrote...
As far as I know, the games are not being "ported" from one platform to another. The PC version is being developed on the PC, the other versions are being developed on their respective platforms.
It would probably help to clarify that a "port" of a game refers to an existing game being adapted to a new platform.
Since this game is being developed for all the announced platforms at the same time, none of the versions can be called a "port".
I missed my menu shortcuts and the ability to use the mouse wheel in menus. It's absurd that they forgot to include that.
The biggest problem with the ME1 port is that surround sound is only supported on EAX compatible sound cards.

I'll believe that one when I see it, tbh. The PC version of Crysis 2 was supposed to have been developed seperately for PC too, and we were greeted with "Push start to play" screen on day 1. Developers have taken the easy way out with ports this entire generation of gaming and they'll keep doing it until PC gamers stop buying bad ports. There have been a lot more bad ports than good ones too.
The problem is, we don't know if it's going to be a bad port or not until we get it. Developers and console fanboys like to harp on how much piracy is rampant on PC as the reason for "lost sales". It couldn't possibly be because we've been getting the short end of the stick with barely working ports for the past seven years. No...it's clearly because all PC gamers are just dirty criminals.
I was a huge Bioware fanboy prior to them being bought by EA, I still have Shattered Steel on the shelf in the corner. Since then, I've seen a steady decline in the quality of their releases. I'm a little more cautious now with what they're showing me than I was when I ordered Awakening and Dragon Age 2.

Apart from that yeah, they did a much more thorough job adapting the game for PC than Bioware did with 2. I would hope they'll do better with 3, and that with multiplayer it would be a priority to make sure weapon hotkeys are back at least.

Because that's been fixed with mods and config tweaks. The problem with his face is that you see his minimal level of detail texture instead of the max. This can be fixed by increasing the minimal LOD to the same level as the max.fett51 wrote...
2 pages and no one mentioned that Demiurge messed up Garrus' face worse than Tarak did?

Also, ME1 was a terrible port.
That darn game can't keep a FPS to save its life.

I play primarily on PC with both Me1 and 2, and I never experienced have as much issue and inconvenience as some claim on here.
Maybe I'm just easy to please.

Unless of course you're ridiculously over the recommended specs. Even then, it still has its moments.

Neither ME1 or ME2 were perfect - the former had a better UI, the latter performed better - some combination of the two would be best, but the game isn't complex enough that I found either to be an active hindrance to my enjoyment.
Put a console interface on Victoria II on the other hand and I'd have to murder someone.

Don't forget that you couldn't just double-click list items, but had to select them, then click a button at the bottom, and then usually dismiss a confirmation dialog in yet another location with yet another click (which dialog wouldn't recognize keyboard input either).

I've played the three games on PC and 360 (currently playing the PS3 versions as well). Mass Effect 1 is the only part of the trilogy where I think they paid care and attention to making it a great PC gaming experience.
That's not to say the other two are bad but it really does feel as if the minimum was done.
Demiurge definitely did the best job making Mass Effect for the PC but I suppose that was because they only had to focus on one platform, whereas Bioware on the following two games had to make them for three platforms at a time.
