 ENEMIES INBOUND!

So, I searched for MW3 threads here, and while there are a few, they're a tad old, and I don't believe any of them are all encompassing.

I figured hey, why not make a thread for any CoD players in the BSN to post their thoughts on the game, tell stories of some experiences they had playing it, facts, opinions, tips, etc etc.

Soooo, I'll get things started-

I'm pretty darn excited. CoD has many strategies that can be employed by players, even though the base of it all is SHOOT THE THING THATS POINTING A GUN AT YOU.

For example, I'm a support player who's all about stealth. I don't want to be seen, I don't want to be heard, and I don't want my enemies to know I'm even there. My best gametype is quite obviously Search and Destroy.

So, what's my set up gonna be in MW3? Well, there's always room to change, I could always make mistakes, and I'll DEFINITELY have a few classes, but from taking a look at what we know thus far, this is what I have in mind-

Search and Destroy class

Primary Weapon- ACR 6.8
Weapon Proficiency- Attachments
Attachments- Suppressor, Heartbeat Sensor

Secondary Weapon- (Unsure as of this time)

Perk 1- Blind Eye(Pro)
Perk 2- Assassin(Pro)
Perk 3- Dead Silence(Pro)

^The reason behind this class is its reminiscent to what I've played in MW2 and Black Ops. I sacrifice damage for effectively being a ghost, and can seek out enemies to get kills or call out kills for teammates. I'm completely silent, and generally(without the right enemy class set up) cannot be detected unless seen with the naked eye. As for playstyle, its a combination of locking down points and keeping on the move while never being found.

And that brings me to killstreaks, where I really really wish they let you set up different killstreak set ups per class(which I believe they don't, as always).

Normally, I'd run-

Support Strike Package-

5- Airdrop Trap
12- Advanced UAV
18- Escort Airdrop

But in Search, that's kind of ridiculous. So I MAY have to be switching(ugh) to-

Support Strike Package-

4- UAV
8- SAM Turret
12- Advanced UAV

I'm sad in the face that the regular 4-point streak Care Packages are exclusive to the Assault Strike Package. For me to get any sort of Care Package, I either have to steal it or work my way up to the friggen Escort Airdrop. 4 points vs. 18? Goddamn. I may end up just going with the Assault Strike Package after all.

This game better rock.

I want to like CoD, I really do. At its core, there are some very fun mechanics, as no other game allows for such accessibility and speed. But between blatantly rehashing old games and releasing the clearly broken multi-player that was MW2, I have lost most faith in the CoD series. I am glad to see some actually changes and improvements of the game though, so maybe MW3 will change my mind.

Yes, its generally the same game every year. No one can deny that, its been this way since CoD4.

Maybe I'm a bit desensitized since I started late into the series with MW2.

Regardless, I have fun playing these games. I always go back to MW2(and as a matter of fact will be playing it, likely with friends, later today).

So while I wish there were more drastic changes, I can live with the fact that they took the basic formula, kept what made it familiar, and added enough change to satiate my need for a difference.

Moooooving on,

I'm a little surprised at the lack of Marathon and Lightweight as perks. Guess knife-runners are gonna have to find interesting ways to use their tactic.

As for me, I should be just fine ghosting(hopefully). Thing is, I really need to make sure I have a good secondary weapon.

And without the game in my hands, I can't decide right now what weapon that could be.

I will say this though.

The FMG9 machine pistol has a cool flip-out animation when its switched to. If its not completely useless, I may use that.

After watching my little brother talk crap to the screen for hours at a time, I cannot enjoy the game anymore.

I haven't read too much about the game yet, but I really hope shotguns are going to be in much better shape than they are in Black Ops. They were perfect in MW2. Then in Black Ops they decided to make them primary weapons and nerf them at the same time.

As for the lack of Marathon and Lightweight, well that brings me back to shotguns. The only way I make them work these days is with Lightweight and Marathon. So again, if they don't do something about shotguns I'll be severely disappointed.

Ah yes, the trash talk. There are voice chat settings such that you can only hear and talk to your friends on xbox live. I don't even know what people are saying in the  ingame chat anymore, and that doesn't bother me one bit.

I can't wait to see how the Campaign ends up. I know the MP is the biggest draw, but I really like the MW games' story. "Hurr durr, generic terrorist bs, hurr durr russians, hurr" Ya wonderful, but it is actually pretty interesting, and the gameplay is self is solid as a rock. I didn't preorder MW3 cause I'll be playing Skyrim in November but I'll pick it up eventually.

I like the single-player story and fun. Don't give a damn about multi-player.

As far as shotguns are concerned, it'll be different.

They're back to being Primaries, so unless you have the Overkill perk(Two Primary weapons), you're not gonna be rolling out a shotgun and an assault rifle(like I do in MW2).

This is why I'm lost as to what my secondary is gonna be.

So it's no different from Black Ops in that regard. Then they had better improve the shotguns a bit then. The shotguns went from secondary to primary in Black Ops and got nerfed at the same time. Obviously this was a big disappointment for shotgun enthusiasts.

That said, I do still enjoy using my shotgun class in Black Ops.

Oh please.

Apart from the singleplayer campaign, there will also be new Spec Ops modes where you can level up as well. That's new. There will be new weapons, new perks, new maps and new killstreak rewards for multiplayer. Basically, it does what a sequel should do. It tries to improve on the old formula and introduces new features and game modes that are hopefully fun as well.

Also, lots of removed perks from MW2-

Stopping Power
Commando
One Man Army
Marathon
Lightweight

I mean daaaaamn. hahaha

Today I kicked some butt in MW2. 15-4 Search and Destroy on Sub Base(gonna miss that map).

Speaking of which, are there any maps from MW2 you guys wish would return via DLC(should be free but of course they'll be at the failtacular price of $15/1200 MS points)?

I'd go with-

Wasteland
Afghan
Sub Base
Terminal
Karachi(can't believe I'm saying that)

Honestly I'd rather they just give us new maps. Tons and tons of new maps. Screw having 16 in the base game to choose from, I want 30. I just wish you didn't have to pay so damn much for them(hence me ignoring some map packs).

Stopping Power needed to go. It was such an obvious choice most people didn't get the other perks. Commando was just insanely annoying, so I'm glad that's gone. One Man Army I'm guessing has been removed because it was highly exploitable with explosives. Marathon and Lightweight... Going to miss them.

My favorite maps were Sub Base and Terminal, by the way.

Yeah, its gonna be hard dealing without a Marathon Lightweight class.

Ah well. If I can't use it, it means the enemy can't either. Double edged sword.

Plus, Stopping Power, Commando, and One Man Army were all nooby as hell, so I say good friggen riddance.

I went and  watched this and for some reason It's gave me the same feeling of discomfort I had when I first played it 2 years ago. So yeha I probably will buy it lol (That make no sense) . I`m  pretty sure will will come up with something very controversial.

Yeah, "No Russian" had to be the most messed up mission I think I've ever played in a video game, ever.

But if video games are gonna be taken seriously, they need to expand to some hard-to-stomach areas, and that was a masterful job of doing such a thing.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope we get more hard-hitting heart-stopping moments like that in future video games.

Just not all at once.

I think the best thing about it was that you didn't have to do it.

I always play it when I go through the campaign, but its nice knowing that others who might not agree with it can skip it.

I showed my stepfather that mission(he was in the Army/Army Reserve for 20 years) and he thought it was pretty interesting.

By the way, I'm curious as to who here believes any of the "Ghost is alive" theories that populate the internet.
