I'm afraid we need to use... math.

And I sure hope so. I imagine she has long flowing blonde hair and is gorgeous.

I hope not, otherwise thats 4 monarchs we know of with blonde hair (Cailan, Alistair, Anora and if your right Celene) lol. With all those who rule us having blonde hair this whole Aryan Race thing being perfect etc. Seems to be in practice with them all ruling over us in Thedas lol. I always imagined her having brown or black hair =D

Yep. Celene has never married.

Is the line of rulers in Orlais an unbroken Bloodline like in Ferelden and Antiva or has the ruling family changed on one occasion or another?

And the codex entry states she is arguably the most powerful woman in Thedas.. Though I wonder who would have more power between her and Divine Justinia V?

Though in one of the codex's gained from one of the portraits in Mark of the Assassin it talks of this old noble (cant remember her name) in Orlais that seems to be the one really pulling the strings and the one who placed Celene on the throne, so I imagine she would be more powerful than Celene.

Ah yes, I remember that.

Just looked her up - her name is Dowager Lady Mantillon.

It does seem like she has considerable influence over Orlesian politics. I wonder how old she is by the end of DA2? I'm hoping we'll meet her in one of the future DA games.

I doubt that. By games and codex: In Antiva, king is only formal ruler, so assassinate him without real power is nonsence. Ferelden is moreless young kingdom, banns and arls are very independent, and king is more symbol of unity, than anything more. On the contrary, Orlais is absolute monarchy with strict hierarchy, "The Game" killing people constantly from times of emperor Kordilius Drakon.

Well let's see. Cailan was born a couple of years after Ferelden was liberated which was in Year 3 of the Dragon Age. So by Year 30, he's probably around 25

The Kings vote counts for triple that of the banns in the landsmeet however - and there is a royal army which the kings appointed General commands (Although destroyed at the start of DAO they have probably replaced it after a decade)

It is revealed through Zevran and codex's that Antiva has an unbroken bloodline in its royal family, and royalty and nobles are seemingly always being killed by the crows over there. I think the King commands an army over there as well, a small mercenary army but still an army - As David Gaider mentioned that the Nobles have mercenary armies.

In absolute Monarchies bloodlines have managed to remain unbroken irl for many many years, Even with the game in Orlais with those of the bloodline being killed while others grab for power it is possible for it to remain unbroken like the Antivan one has dispite many assassinations.
The Absolute Monarchy bit is of no concern, England was one and its line remained unbroken.. France...Before being completely wiped out held their Royal Bloodline for some time, and many other European countries

If we get confirmation that she's bisexual, we'll know she's a LI in DA3.

Maybe they should make DA3 like Fable 3, where you can walk through the streets of Val Royal, strike a pose in a group of people, they all fall in love with you, and you can make woopie with one or all of them.

There is probably another person in line maybe related to the bloodline if it exists that could come into the throne after Celene.. As for Anora & Ferelden however.. Anora's ability to plan for the future seems quite simplistic if not non existant. AKA shes a fool lol, Im of the mind that she wont make attempts to produce an heir with The Warden or Alistair and civil war will probably follow.. The crown will probably end up with Fergus or Eamon

I'm guessing that Anora will have an heir with the Warden or Alistair. However, I can see her pulling a Queen Elizabeth I and leaving the power with the most capable, probably Fergus Cousland, Teagan, or whoever the new Teyrn/Teyrna of Gwaren is. Celene... now I'm not so sure. As we haven't been introduced to her as of yet, I have no clue whether she is the type that would have an heir. I'd guess that if she didn't, she would leave power with one of her cousins. That is what "real-life" royalty has been known to do.

Probably Teagan, seeing as Eamon looks like he's getting on in years. In fact, if Fergus has an heir by the time DA2's epilogue rolls around, and Teagan has an heir of the opposite sex, arranging a marriage and uniting the Guerrins and Couslands would be the next best thing to a Theirin on the throne. And both guys seem like reasonable men.

I remember that posting by DG and the image itself.

It's indeed a wonderful image, though personally the hairstyle and skin tone isn't what I imagined Celene to look like long ago. But it's still a great Celene.

Fergus (or whoever his heir might be) would take the crown, more than likely. I believe the Couslands are second only to the Theirins in power and popularity - in fact, I think Dairren mentioned in the HN origin that many nobles wished for Bryce to take the crown rather than Cailan.

This is reinforced by Anora's willingness to have the HN Warden as her king - she's nothing if not politically savvy, and she would've utterly refused the idea if it didn't have some political merit with the banns.

Wasn't there an implication that Anora has trouble producing an heir? Maybe she can't.

Well, it was also implied Cailan might have been shooting blanks. He slept around a lot, but apparently never sired any illegitimate children. It's about as conclusive as "a woman hasn't concieved by age twenty-nine; she must clearly be infertile!"

There's also the added problem that Anora is not a Theirin, the only men she eventually marries are both Grey Wardens and thus infertile, and if she is not set up with either, she never marries again, a la Elizabeth I.
