Oh wait, there is none. At least to does who have not bought any extra DLC's. Sorry Bioware, but I has a mad face. I try to remain loyal, I mean, I own both games of Star Wars KOTOR, I also own Mass Effect 1, but I do like the ability to have some free roaming, or pointless mob killing after I have finished the game, but at least I would like to do something, not be teased by being stuck into an area forever.
And that brings me to my main point, the teasing post main game. It taunts and jibes at you because it will not allow you anywhere.

It's there so when you finish the game, you can play the DLC with a finished character. Happened in DA:O as well.

Given how act 3 ends, I think it makes sense for your PC to be in a sort of post-game-awaiting-DLC limbo. It's just a holding bay really. I'm not sure what the point of wandering around after the final battle would be if there aren't any further adventures - killing stray mages and templars? Looting burning houses? That would get old quickly.
DA2 simply ends with a cliffhanger. Some may not be pleased with that, while some may be excited for the possibilities yet to come. I can say in all honesty though that I found both Legacy and Mark of the Assassin to be very enjoyable.

I don't really see the problem here. They're letting you play DLC even if the you've already finsihed the game and you are complaining? Would you rather you just had to start a new game if you wanted to play DLC?

Did you play DA:O?
I can't remember if KOTOR let you do anything at the end of the game.

Story-wise, approximately half of all Hawkes will have left Kirkwall at the end of Act III and the other half will be busy ruling the city and then leaving Kirkwall. In that context, post-campaign play really wouldn't make much sense.
I guess they could take the same approach they've taken with the DLC and have it occur before the conclusion of the story as far as the timeline is concerned, but I'm not sure what the point would be. Have BioWare ever made a game with post-story content? They're a very narratively focussed developer.

Well, here's the thing that really sets me off - the ability to change and use end game skills. I mean, I've gone from KOTOR to ME to DA2. Now, ME allows you to use a finished play-through to go through again, and you can use all your end game skills. That's what I would like to do. I have not played DA:O and I have DA2 on 360, and the fact that I have an old 20gb hard drive on it makes memory precious. If there were dummys even, I would like that, just so I could test out all the skills.

@OP - If you get the DLCs, you can start them from the estate in what is technically your post-campaign mode. Story-wise, the DLC events would take place just before the final battle. Environment-wise, all that would be available to you are the locations established in the DLC, the estate, and the Black Emporium, if you have that. But your PC will have all of the skills, gear, etc that you had once you finished the game.

@whykikyouwhy - Ok, before we start a flame war here, let me set a few things straight:
1. I have DA2 on the Xbox 360, not the PC
2. I currently do not have the space on my 360 hard drive to handle DLCs
3. I do not have a funding currently to purchase the DLCs
Sure enough, what you said makes perfect sense, I just wished that that Bioware had either made a way to test out the end game skills in a more lengthy fashion for those who do not have DLCs, or had made it so when you return, you're before the major cinematics.
Now don't get me wrong, I love the game and Bioware, but I do wish to have my end game skills. I kinda have the same feeling like I did when playing KOTOR, that the going just got good when it ended combat wise. I guess playing ME didn't help as I could play on a completed run.
Post game content? Well that's another name for DLCs I guess, but I don't really mean that.
I'm fine with running through the game again, but I would like to do it as my end game character, then I could go for the harder difficulties more simply.
Honestly, I just want something where I can test out my skills, possibly a place that has free Maker's Sigils and a few "training dummies".
EDIT for those who thing TL;DR: I can't get DLCs, so please stop talking about them. Refer to them if you must as being the way out of the estate/ Black Emporium, but please don't go on saying "Get DLCs". I do not have the currency nor the digital space to house those things. Oh and I use a XBOX 360, not a PC!

Then you're **** out of luck on any other way of getting out. It's how the game works. Set encounters with the exact same mechanics during every play through, with DECISIONS altering that course. Then the Final Boss is engaged, all quests are cut off, and there is no more content. Also there is point, where the Final Boss itself IS the last content.
You beat what the game had to offer. That's proof you have MAD gamin skills. Congrats.

@Myusha Thanks for the voice of encouragement, but as I did play a mage, I just want to see what the skills are capable of. Hmmmm, should they bring out a DLC that is pretty much a Arena thing, and is allowed to be gone to after its story has finished, I will get it.
