So when it came to this boss fight, I was just rolling with it. But then Hawke and Varric died and all I had left was Merrill and Avelene (Sorry for mis-spellage). I noticed something with the High Dragon though. I think Avelene had taunted the dragon or something but she held threat, and as I was controlling her, all I did was run around like a mad idiot. The dumb dragon still had me targeted, so basically all it was was Merrill knocking down its health.
Has anyone else had a stupid boss?

High dragon=optional. If you're not good enough to do it, don't. And it sounds to me like this is problem, as they say, somewhere between the player and the keyboard/controller.

I did it, easily, I'm just saying that because Avelene held threat, I just had to do rings around the dragon until Merrill killed it.

The problem wasn't on my end, that I can say. Sure enough, Hawke and Varric got downed, but I still had the skill to kill the dragon. There was no challenge on my end, just me going "Huh?" at the fact that all I had to do was run around. It's more AI scripting that has the issue than anything.

True, the High Dragon (well, many of the boss fights) can be dealt with easily if you have a bit of creativity.
But consider this, its either doing what you did, or have a tank that can actually just soak all the damage... I generally do it "your" way, ranged damage and control a melee, doing my best to stay out of harms way.
I do, however, like the DLC bosses. Malvernis, Cory, Prosper, Skylod... they take a bit more of a tactical approach imho. Which i interpret as Bioware getting better at it
