Malcolm Hawke - is it just me, or would others like to "see"/hear more about him too?

So, in spite of what little we know about him, does anyone else find his character compelling?

I find myself quite savoring the bits i can find. I especially liked the codex entry from the Mage Pack I DLC.

So, i guess the point is... would you like for him to have a presence in future DLC / Expansions / the like? Perhaps either as flashbacks and/or mentions.

Seems to me that his and leandras story could have been perfect material for a novel. Not that Im not looking forward to Asunder, but still. I can't help but savour the times he is mentioned by hawke or his family.

I want asunder!! Anything involving dragon age is great ( for me) I do want to know more about hawke..I want to know everything involving this character and after act 3 I want it even MORE.

More adventure with Li, more searching for father's pass, more of the warden asking malcome for help and why malcome and nOT another crazy mage (wich Kirkwall has tons of it), more about qunari and tallis, more.. more lol :)P

I agree! I seem to devour the content at an... unsettling pace :P

And I agree, I would prefer more Hawke (Champion) material... But, if Bioware felt "forced" (or, I guess, just wanted) to do a Leliannas Song style DLC... I could probably live with it if it was centered about Daddy Hawke :P

(not that I wouldn't buy it no matter what it was about)

Yes, please! I would love to see more of Malcolm Hawke; he is indeed a compelling character. But as Migo said, I'd buy it no matter what it was about, but still. :P

A prequel DLC would be great. You play as Malcolm. He's on the run with Leandra. Last moments of the DLC Hawke is born.

I'd like some sort of prequel DLC where we see all five of the Hawke clan working together as a family.

Yes, YES -- I wanted to know more about Malcolm. AND what does he look like.

A prequel would be great on his & leandra's story.

YES, I'd love a prequel DLC or a novel. Anything that will go into more detail about the Hawke family and make me feel more connected to them is welcome.

Perhaps if it was a novel, it could have two different perspectives, Malcolm and Leandra. With Malcolm it could start off with him on some sort of adventure with some companions, perhaps heading towards Kirkwall. And with Leandra it could be all about nobility and life in Kirkwall. And eventually they would meet, and then it would go into detail about how they escaped from Kirkwall. And we already know some of this from the codexes, so some of the novel could be based upon that information. Idk, just some I'm throwing out there.

If it was DLC it could be similar to Leliana's song, but hopefully longer and more in-depth.

Do we even know what happened to him that he wasn't around in the game? (other than making the 1 sibling suicide rush make a little more sence)

I *think* he died of some illness or another, but I am not sure.

I at least didn't get the impression that the way he died was remarkable. But I could be wrong.

And, yes, I would really love a Malcolm/Leandra book. or Prequel. It would serve to connect one with the family.

I thought he died of the Blight somehow.

I do not remember where I got that from... probably these boards.

Also, I don't much care for Malcolm Hawke. I'm sorry. Although from the snippets of dialogue we heard from him in Legacy... he would have made for a fantastic First Enchanter. The game could have used a level-headed strong and capable mage.

I would love too, but then again... Keeping him mysterious keeps us fans on the edges of our chairs.

Meh. Show me a face, then I'm happy.
We already know everything that happened to him, and it wouldn't rank in much cash for Bioware, considering they tried it with Leliana's song. I'd buy it if it came out, but I'm more interested in Hawke's future as of now.

I'd like to see an actual portrait of him or maybe his "twin" brother, should Bioware give him one.

And I definitely want to hear more of him. He's got an epic voice and I can just imagine that he has an epic beard to go with it.

I'd read it. Good idea.

Did anyone else get the conversation with Anders in MoA when he asks about your father? I wondered if you only get it if you reject Tallis. After I left her, we were strolling down the hillside and Anders asks what he was like and Hawke says that he never gave a straight answer but always had to throw a joke in (or words to that effect). Now this particular Hawke is a rogue and I'd been using the humorous dialogue most of the time in MoA, so I wondered if it was any different if you are more diplomatic or aggressive (so Hawke takes after father).

I reloaded and tried the other route but we just got waylaid by that annoying Orlesian noble and after killing him there was no further dialogue until we ran into the Qunari. I must say, if leaving Tallis means you get to chat more with your real friends, then I'll probably keep taking that option just to see what they say. This wasn't the only conversation with Anders, we had another one further on after witnessing a fight between two Wyverns and it wasn't as if we are in a relationship or he is a hardened friend/rival.

@Gervaise.
The never straight answer is homoures Hawke. For diplmotic Hawke Malcom was calm, but you would know when he was dissapointed and for agressive Hawke he was strict. In other words Hawke takes after Malcolm-

I like the idea of Malcolm being humorous.

And actually, you could play it so that Malcolm was all of those things. You could be an aggressive Hawke and find out that he was strict, but if you choose the sarcastic option at the end of Legacy in Act III Leandra's echo says that Malcolm was just as much of a joker.

So I think Malcolm should be all 3. It adds more depth for him to be strict yet calm but always has to crack a joke. In that way, Hawke took after the part of Malcolm that stuck with him more. Did Hawke enjoy being a jokester?

I hardly care about Hawke. I have no interest in his father.

I thought part of the point of not showing Malcolm's face was to give a possible explanation for discrepancies in appearance between Hawke and the rest of the family.

A flashback Lothering DLC, however, would be interesting.

How does a non-blood mage pull a noblewoman like Leandra? Charm.

I think Bioware said that Malcolm's face would be like the rest of the family's, in that if you change up your Hawke he changes to reflect it or something like that.

Bethany does say that Anders reminds her of Malcolm, so there's that.

Don't remind me. Glad I play a mage so that it doesn't demolish my head canon. Anders...<_<
