Why does everyone trust Eamon?

Arl Eamon just shows up at the Landsmeet with Alistair, claiming he's the previously unknown, secret bastard brother of the last King. Everyone just seems to take Eamon's claim at face value despite the fact that Alistair will quite obviously do anything Eamon tells him to. No-one else can back this story up and as far as I am aware he has no evidence to back it up.
So my question is: Why does no one question Alistair's parentage or that he's simply Eamon's puppet?

They do. That's half the point of the Landsmeet, the other half being to depose Loghain. In fact, the Codex entry for King Alistair in DA2 says that there are suspicions that Alistair is an imposter just to get rid of Loghain and Anora, unless Alistair and Anora marry.

But no one in the Landsmeet just ups and asks something along the lines "Are we just supposed to take your word for it?".
The guys at the Landsmeet don't seem to be questioning Alistair's parentage, they just seem to think that Loghain's a better guy to have in charge.

He looks ludicrously similar to Cailan. Also, Eamon is generally well-respected and holds the Theirin line in high respect. He wouldn't be expected to just make this up.

Though if you do rely on Alistair's being Maric's son as an argument in the landsmeet then Loghain will claim he is false and you lose support. And Anora will refer to him as an imposter if she supports Loghain, though given some of her comments earlier she clearly doesn't truly doubt his parentage.

Who says they trust him? Politics is not about the trust.

Ferelden was neck deep in trouble. There was a civil war and a horde of darkspawn roaming the country. Loghain didn't to much to stop the Blight, and some bannors were already destroyed.

That would have very bad influence on business and the economics of the country. And guess who controlled that?
The nobles needed the Blight to end as soon as possible. Eamon offered a solution.

Also, I don't believe they heard about it only at the Landsmeet. 'Preparing the landsmeet' doesn't include only purely organisational and administrative tasks, like invitation or accomodation, that's just marginal. No, 'preparing the landsmeet' - and Eamon was busy with it for quite some time - means political negotiations with possible allies.

So on the landsmeet, Eamon already had a backup, plus Alistair had the Warden's support - and at that moment the Warden represented the biggest military force in the country. To stand up against Alistair on that landsmeet would be too dangerous.

Later, when the war is over, the situation more-less stable, the Warden's army out of the way - then there's time and opportunity to start trying to decrease Eamon's and Alistair's power, deglorify them, point out the mistakes they made, their faults, etc.

I dont think the secret was "THAT" much of a secret....

You talk to Loghain afterward and he fully acknowledges that Alistair is Maric's son, similarly, dialogue when you go rescue Anora with alistair has Anora recognizing alistair.

Then there's also the fact that the Grand Cleric seemed very unwilling to let Alistair go...

I honestly would not be surprised if the elder Couslands for example, knew about alistair as well...

The noble's son whom you rescue from being tortured also is not very surprised if you tell him you're there for the rightful King Alistair. He's all just, "Maric's bastard! So there's a landsmeet being called afterall!" (paraphrased of course)

I think by then that story was well circulated. Even the 2 gossip guys mention Alistair's status.
