I have always been a big fan of the D&D based RPGs such as Bauldar's Gate, Icewind Dale, and of Course NWN1 & 2. I recently started playing NWN2 again and of course got myself rehooked on it. It is now nearly 2012 and NWN2 has been out for some time. I know that the MMO Neverwinter is set to come out next year but what I really want is a new D&D based MMO. It doesn't have to be Neverwinter but I want the same feel that the NWN, BG, and ID series gave. Not an MMO. If I want to play an MMO I will play WOW or SWTOR. Sometimes you just want a good dungeon crawl or vast story you get with an RPG. Also the abilty for user created content which has always been the best part of the NWN series. So is there any such game in development or at least plans for a game like this. I have always said I want to see Dragonlance brought to the PC but I know thats a pipe dream. Also with Neverwinter make the switch to MMO will there still be a toolset to create your own worlds and adventures? If so how advanced will it be?
Thanks all. Its good to be back in Neverwinter again.

Welcome back.
For the experience you are looking for, NWN2 really is the only place where it's at. Especially for a hardcore D&D fan.
Only NWN2 has the flexibilty to offer differing adventure styles such as a party-based dungeon crawler, as well as a more immersive story-centered RPG, in addition to even some more wild, unconventional modules.
All this, of course, thanks to the user-created content made possible by the toolset. It's entirely possible someone might come up with a Dragonlance based module.
Harumph!

Ya, Thats why I love NWN1 & 2 so much. I had high hopes for the DLA team back in the day but that never came to be. I guess I was just wondering how much life NWN2 has left and if when it does get out dated will another be made? For now I am loving NWN2 and I think I am gonna finally take a crack at my own mod.

There are some Dragonlance placeables coming along quite nicely. Just a matter of time before they are put to good use.

As long as you are enjoying it and having fun then it is alive for you. Just don't make a goal of 10,000 downloads of your work, because that hasn't happened for years.

I thought there were some dragonlance modules out there for NWN1 or NWN2 but they were pulled due to some copyright stuff.
Regarding the OP, From time to time I look for the NWN2 successor and have not seen anything to suggest it is in development. I strongly doubt that the Neverwinter game will be the successor, but I also think that there may be one in the future. As it is, I am very happy with NWN2. It runs great on new machines and there are hundreds of adventures with new ones being created all the time. It has a nice little cult following for builders and players have a base of at least several dozen productive builders to expect modules from. It's a nice little thing we have going on here,

DnD has a huge fan base and for that reason there will be more games as people try to tap into that to make money.
Wether they make a good job of it is another matter.
Welcome back by the way

Just that fact that this forum is so active gives me great hope for this game and future ones. I love games like NWN because of the replayability and the unlimited amount of content. As to my hopes for number of downloads for my own content, I have no delusions of 10,000 downloads. I will be happy with 10
Now if someone more talented than I would create the DLA adventures for us to enjoy I will be so happy.

Rats, I can't remember the location of the fella who was working on a dragonlance module. He made some movies of a character walking around the solace tree city with the connected bridges. He did some fantastic work but I haven't followed up on checking it out for a couple years. Might be the same link pain posted but I don't see anything I recognise there.
edit: yes it is the same link as pain posted, but had to go back to previous dates. I didn't find the movie I was looking for however. Had a cool soundtrack.
edit 2: Found the one I was looking for on youtube. Now that I hear the music again I recall him saying it came from Last of the Mohicans. http://www.youtube.c.../0/BSDCioTe2xA

That is the same user, pdubulous. He left the community. His last blog post indicates he started working for a major game studio. The post is over a year old. Don't count on seeing a Dragonlance module from him.
