Hello everybody!

Just finished the game with a tank on normal, now I try to play it on hard with a dual wield rogue. Do I need to push only dex and cunning or do I have to invest some points in strength too at the beginning, or even some stamina?

Dunno what stats I should push first and if strenght is necessary, except for holding Swords?

I'm doing the same as you. Done with tanker and now I'm on a rogue. I think the only reason to pump strength is for better armour, since I'm using daggers (and sometimes a little bow). I'm going with Dex as major pumpage and a little in Wil and Con (maybe to around 20 tops) and also Cun (just to get skills/talents - so about 22, I think).

Depends on the Rogue you're trying to roleplay. I'm playing a Drizzt character so I pumped Dex to around 36 and now I'm bringing strength up for better armor and weapons. May hit Con a bit too. Not doing anything to Cunning or Archery since Drizzt is more a dual wielding machine.

I'm not saying this is the strongest Rogue build, but you should design the character to your tastes IMO.

Just gone through the game as Rogue duel wield, I worked on dex first till reaching 36 then worked on cunning and strength. Probably a good idea to work on getting Momentum as soon as possible imo.

I want to go sword / dagger. Is dagger/ dagger better?

I already spent some points in cunnig because I read it is important for rogues. :(

I'm not sure whether it's "to hit" or damage, but non-piercing weapons use str and piercing use dex, thus sword/dagger means pumping both, I suppose.

i tried the drizzt thing too, but i'm trying the balanced think here...a little skill points here and there...one for you and one for you...but now i'm thinking i need to focus more on dex, thanks guys.

See here for a DPS comparison of rogue builds.

If you're going to use swords then yes, you will need to raise either str or cunning (with lethality) to improve your damage.

Sword/sword rogues do slightly less DPS than sword/dagger rogues, but by all means don't let that discourage you from RPing the character you want, the difference isn't that big. However there's no point getting DW Mastery unless you plan to use a non-dagger in your offhand.

Don't feel bad about spending points in cunning, you'll probably want 22 in cunning anyway for Master Stealth.

But do I need to put one point in cunning? In the magetower I should get enough at all, or not? I so, I wasted 4-5 points. :(

Have to begin from the edge I think.

The mage tower gives you 5 points in cunning I believe, so you will still need to invest a bit to get a natural 22.

Even then you may want to get your cunning to 30 (including gear) so that you can unlock/disarm everything with lockpicking 4.

I am playing rogue for my second playthrough, and I remembered Bioware (in a thread a while ago) said something about Dex's part in rogue's DPS. I notice when I arm dagger/dagger, increase my DEX does not increase my DPS as much as (as indicated in my character screen) STR does. Is there something wrong with my game?

Daggers are bugged such that they get 100% of their damage bonus from strength instead of 50% strength / 50% dex. If you have the PC version you can download a hotfix here: http://dragonage.gul...rity_hotfix_101. After you DL the hotfix, you should see your damage go up when you increase dex.

Ah, I thought there was some kind of fix. Thanks for the link! :D

I like this part :

\\\\Installing this hotfix will cause a steep increase in difficulty by almost a full level for any encounters that include multiple archers. If you are having trouble with easy or normal difficulty, stay away from this hotfix until we have updated it to offset these effects

The next patch will also include the fix for daggers to get 50% Str and 50% Dex damge bonus rather than 100% strength. See here

I haven't seen any confirmation on whether it includes any of the other changes in the hotfix e.g. making Shortbows 100% Dex based and increasing their armour penetration: increasing range, critical chance bonus and attack of ALL bows.

Guess we'll have to wait and see unless Georg enlightens us ;)
