Of course Tallis still wants to argue about the qunari despite the fact my problem was with her, not the qunari.

I don't think it's important that I like every character Bioware writes though, the fact that I have an opinion about her at all means they did something right.

I guess it pays to be famous, right Miss Day?
Felicia Day isn't very famous. She's appeared in pretty much the same sort of stuff that the other Dragon Age voice actors have.
Simon Pegg is a bigger nerd and much more famous and a way better writer than she is. Why don't Bioware think to ask Simon Pegg to star in one of their games/DLC/expansion. He was Ben Flynn in Fable 3, and probably the biggest famous Star Wars fan ever.

She saw a better future for herself with the qunari, she let hawke knows that there is a "'good side to them" sadly the "good" is not for mages.. rofl.
I don't know what families she is talking about i always thought qunari childrens were raced collectively. maybe she is part of another group of qunari?
I don't know.. remember fenris? when asked about it? he said: they were free with their affections.. but this qunari were outcasts and they didn't follow the qun, she on the other hand is a qunari or I thought she was.
Edit: I have to play that dlc again, am getting all confuse.. or maybe bioware is the ones who got all mess up and families* slipped lol.. oh maker! someone bring the Codex to them!

"The prototypical Mary Sue is an original female character in a fanfic who obviously serves as an idealized version of the author mainly for the purpose of Wish Fulfillment. She's exotically beautiful, often having an unusual hair or eye color, and has a similarly cool and exotic name. She's exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas, and may possess skills that are rare or nonexistent in the canon setting. She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws — either that or her "flaws" are obviously meant to be endearing."
Whether Tallis qualifies as a Mary Sue when looking at the above standards is up for debate, but to me, she certainly seemed to lean towards the label on several occasions.
Before I elaborate, let me clarify that I don't hate Tallis. I don't even dislike her - I just don't like the way her character was handled. Tallis received unique armor, a unique skillset, unique features which didn't seem to correspond with any existing ones at all (referring to her looks here) and to top it off, a unique background, mainly making her a female spy following the Qun. Looking past that, she is, of course, incredibly skilled. Not only with daggers, but with deception, charisma, theft, stealth and breaking out of cells as well, all while in the meantime being more impressive than Hawke&Co.
I don't have anything against unique characters. I do, however, have something against characters created to be perfect (or regarding Tallis, at least incredibly appealing), in this case more than probably to draw an audience for Redemption. This doesn't just count for Tallis - it counts for all characters. There's hardly a thing more dull than someone perfect.
That being said, there were still more than enough factors for me to greatly enjoy MotA, with Tallis' nug-mimicking being one of them.
All right. Just played through Mark of the Assassin again, and came to the realization the above statements are probably a result of my skepticism when the DLC was announced.
Now that I've played through MotA a couple of times, skepticism has turned into something more favourable. As stated before, I never hated Tallis, but having interacted with her character more often, I've grown to like her. She's not my favourite and I doubt she ever will be, but she's all right.
The only real issue I have left is that Tallis' voice seems mismatched when put together with the other companions. And no, that is not a sneer at Felicia Day, since I think her voice acting is all right. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something off about the audio. That might just be me, though.

Because Day is interested in DA, Pegg probably isn't.

She did a good job but I think the audio quality seems inferior to the others va.

All elves have that, though. Usually covered up by a collar or scarf. It's not just Tallis.

A non-drooling Hawke, imo, would be the one who is anti-Qunari invasion, anti-Qunari pillaging-of-Kirkwall, anti-Qunari imposing their will upon a city that is not theirs...but not anti-ALL-Qunari. Since those that follow the Qun do so at various levels, and are each individuals (albeit working towards a collective goal), then to be anti-ALL-Qunari would be foolish and idiotic.
This! You can feel betrayed by Tallis for misleading Hawke but flat out racist Hawke against anything Qunari is a tough sell for me. Why be hareful towards every Qunari you come across?
I liked Tallis way more than Sebastian.

I'll probably buy anything in the future that she's in, only because I have this need to not miss anything. But I'll be WAY happier if next time she shows up, I get the option to kill her or foil her plans in some way.

What surprised me, though, is the inability to fight her. At the end, I really wanted to defy her objectives. Not necessarily kill her, but..., hell, she is a qunari believer (more or less).

This really captures how I feel. It does seem like they tried so hard to make her likable and cool it just feels... contrived, I guess. Just not as compelling as the other companions. Plus she really comes across to me as brainwashed and fanatical, but that's YMMV territory, I guess.
I don't like her in the web series either. "We Qunari know how to treat our animals." Seriously, Tallis? Screw you. <_<

I expected to hate her. After playing the DLC, I found that I merely disliked her strongly. No mean feat, consdidering.
Most of my objections have to do with how speshul she is. She defies all the lore we have seen to date regarding female qunari. OK, so we haven't seen all the lore there is, obviously, but when every qunari we have met to date tells us that women have clearly defined *non-combatant* roles in the Qun and then when a fan-made qunari breaks those rules so she can be a spy who will almost certainly be involved in combat, well, there you go.
I found myself rolling my eyes a lot when she got all the good lines. I loved the jailbreak scene to itty bitty bits... right up until she strolled over, broke Hawke out of jail, and saved the day. Hey, if my companions can be made to look like idiots, she should be made to look like one, too.
She could do everything. Why was it even necessary for my character to use stealth at all when she was always there ahead of him? Couldn't she just super-sneak on ahead, stick a knife in the ribs of everyone in the way, and let us just on with it? But no, she just sat there making impatient comments while Hawke did all the work, then popped on ahead of him at the end. Grrrrrrr.
And why is everybody in the DLC falling all over her? She isn't all that pretty. I wish she had gotten the banter that Aveline/Isabela had: "I don't understand why you're so popular. You aren't all that pretty."/"Spread a wide enough net, you're bound to catch something." That level of honesty would have impressed me far more than the undeserved fanboy squeeage she's received.
Probably the one shining moment in the DLC came when we were trying to get the key from the guards and it was Hawke's charm, not Tallis's that saved the day. It was a brief moment of focusing the attention back upon Hawke, for a change, but it was very, very welcome by that point.
Anyway, I hope that now that she's had her 15 minutes of fame, she can get on with some other project. I REALLY would rather NOT see her again.
^This.
I wasn't thrilled with this DLC at all. I wish there was a slap Tallis mod like I've seen for Morrigan.

If I remember it correctly Felicia Day said that Redemption takes place before MotA.
That would mean she already was demoted once before we see her doing what she thinks is right in MotA. She seems to have a little disobedient streak.
