And that's super, but others might feel differently, i know I'm not the only one that wanted to play Hawke's starting year in Kirkwall anyway.

no one should kill Athenril.

Well, Hawke helped a kid, told her and she attacked.

Was she just supposed to let her cut her down?

you could've lied to her. Athenril is too awesome for her to ever die.

Besides, Athenril is a much better crime boss than the Coterie (since she's a more ethical smuggler). And considering Hawke encounters the Coterie like clockwork around and in Kirkwall in all of the Acts, Athenril's guild should come up on top.

Well, my Hawke's doesn't really see the dialogue wheel, that's part of role playing. Posted Image

That said, my sarcastic Hawke's do lie to her, so i guess she doesn't die in those playthroughs.

My diplomatic Hawke's are just honest and the agressive ones are just not afraid of her. Posted Image

Athenril would have made a great companion for DLC or the main game. Too bad she's killable and not important enough for a resurrect.

Why do people hate Tallis, and by extension, Felicia Day?

Its pretty silly. Every hater I've seen of Felicia just seems jealous, and every hater I've seen of Tallis just calls her a mary sue. =/

I can understand if people simply dont like Felicia, but some of you seem to hate her guts despite the fact that none of you have even met her!

The Tallis hate is silly too.Yes, she's conflicted about her faith, and yes, she just walks off with that qunari spy list, but thats a fault of the writers, NOT the character herself, and NOT Felicia.

I also dont get people complaining about Felicia/Tallis for simply being in the DLC. I think she's earned it, after all she's done with Dragon Age Redemption.

I think most people are just flatout JEALOUS.

i felt conflicted about Tallis...for a DLC/webseries character, she's pretty compelling. and in my universe, the only sin a character can commit is to be noncompelling. i just had a REALLY hard time standing with her. let's just say that she didn't have my nose.

What are they jealous about? No need to get all "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!" like a fanboy. I'm not sure which is more pathetic, the people who blindly hated the character, even before the DLC was out, because she was voiced by Felicia Day, or the people who blindly loved the character, even before the DLC was out, because she was voiced by Felicia Day.

This. Before this DLC, I had never seen any related Felicia
Day content and did not care that she was in the game. I hated Tallis because
she was an incredibly annoying character who did not fit in the DA universe and
routinely broke my immersion with her flat voice acting. Additionally her face
mapping does not have the same feel as the rest of the NPCs so she was also
annoying to look at.

The only reason I knew Felicia Day before this DLC came out is that my husband has been watching Dr. Horrible and I walked past the TV sometimes. And even then I didn't know the name, just the face. I am definitely not an admirer of Miss Day, nor am I a hater - I just don't know enough about her work. Nonetheless I think Tallis was a fun character - funny, strong, but caring and even vulnerable at times - and I liked her very much.

I dunno, you tell me. These people just sound jealous.

No need to get all "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!" like a fanboy.

And where did I say I was madly in love with this character? or that I think she's the best thing to happen to DA2?

I just expressed how I dont get why people hate the character and/or the person behind her.

Pay attention.

What people?
Judging from this thread the people who hate her hate her because she's a follower of the Qun and never acknowledge the 'atrocities' the Qun commits.

Which is, reasonable.

Tallis totally pings my Sue-dar in the classic sense of being an authorial self-insert. Starting with her overlong intro cutscene, she's clearly supposed to be the coolest, most badass character EVAH. She always gets the last word in every dialogue. She's stealthy and skilled and a superspy and she's gorgeous, or so we're told. Despite being an elf, no one ever questions her presence or treats her like a servant--as opposed to Fenris, who's assumed to be a servant despite the big freaking sword on his back. She's clearly smarter than everyone else in the game, since no one seems to notice the Qunari symbol on the front of her armor, and in the end, she strolls off with the list and barely a token protest from Hawke. Oh, and somehow, she convinces Hawke to help her with this mission for no reason other than, I guess, her stunning persuasive abilities. If she were in a Harry Potter fic, she'd totally be sorted into Sparklypoo House.

Most of all, though, the structure of the DLC made me feel like my Hawke was a sidekick in his own story. MotA was about Tallis, not about Hawke's story. It has little to do with Felicia Day, other than my suspicion that the DLC wouldn't have been so focused on Tallis at Hawke's expense if the VA weren't someone who's currently hot in the gamer community.

I wouldn't have minded a Tallis like character in the game, but not for a role like a member of the Qunari. She just didn't fit in in that sense. At all.

1. I hate Tallis, by no fault of Felicia Day, I actually respect her, her talent, and adorable geekiness.

2. This part may be true for all I know, all I know about Felicia is that she is also a fan of the franchise and wanted to be a part of it. Much respect for that. But I hate Tallis because of her warped reasoning, blatant hypocrisy, and childlike mindset.

3.a: I  have come to (reluctantly) accept that that Bioware has decided to make a "pet character" for the franchise at the moment, and they had no intention of letting me kill Tallis. But after her involvement with the plot of Thedas is done, and she is no longer important, I expect Bioware to let me kill her. This is Bioware's mess, not Felicia Day's, and I was insulted that they didn't allow me to clean it up (with my trusty murder knife).

3.b: Unless the pull a heel face turn out of their butt with Tallis to try to ease everyone's hate for her, which would only ****** me off more.

4.     .........?

There are lots of people that BIoware won't let you kill in the story. Tallis is hardly special in that regard.

Sure but Tallis, as an agent of the Qun with demonstrable skill in subterfuge and assassination, is a threat to all free thinking people of Azeroth. I'm having a hard time personally remembering how many times my Hawke had threatened to kill her, and yet the only choice I was given was to either help her conduct a massive cover-up (while saving all of the innocent qunari) or leave her to her own devices (she probably would have survived it, anyway, in order to preserve the character for future use by Bioware).

I can't think of any character that is so dangerous that Hawke hasn't had the opportunity to kill (or that would otherwise die due to a fffffffawesome qunari headshot in the Chantry) other than Isabela.

Take that for what you will. On the flip-side, why are there so many Tallis sympathizers? I hesitate to believe it's solely because she was voiced by Day.

While I don't quite hate Tallis I'm not far from it.
Didn't like the character and I thought Felicia's voice acting was quite annoying. Particularly when she did that 'I'm being witty and clever' voice where her voice would raise to a certain pitch then continue on in monotone until she finished her sentence.

Lol, I hated that

I cringed evertime she opened her mouth and was very disappointed I could not kill her. Her dialouge was horrible and did not fit in with the rest of the game at all.

This pretty much sums up the way i felt about her as well, I'd be very happy if we never saw her again.. Maybe hear about how Tevinter assassins killed her and took the list while she was on her way back to the Qunari.. That would be awesome.. The worst quote of her's was the "Swooping is bad" one.. God damn when she said that i just had to close the game for a while I felt sick

Heh, the only part I didn't like was how my mage Hawke couldn't be like "Umm hello? What part of your religion wants to sew my mouth shut are you missing?" But then again I have a feeling they would have wriiten her some well thought out completely shut down Hawke answer and that may have pissed me off more then the lack of dialogue.

I have to admit I found her very annoying... I've actually never really disliked a character so much. I mean, Anders could be whiny and annoying too, but Tallis... I don't know, I'm not even entirely sure why she annoys me so much, but I think it has to do with the way she talks. "That must be the altar that weird old guy told us about." It feels to... hip and modern for this game. She is supposed to be clever and witty and funny, but I really didn't get the "I got your nose thing". It felt rather forced and she didn't do anything to "get my nose". Those "smart" remarks combined with the supposedly deep remarks about different paths or different destinations or whatever are an odd combination in my opinion, that doesn't really work.
I've never heard of Felicia Day before, by the way, and don't really have the ambition to voice in a computer game, so I don't think jealousy is the reason for my disliking of this character.
