Drell over Quarians?

Quole, you are almost exactly one year newer to these forums than Upsettingshorts. Ipgd is also more of a BSN veteran than you are.
Calling people an idiot based on that alone is stupid. It doesn't take a genius to know that signup date is not related to the quality and/or insight of a user's posts.

If you want my serious answer, then its very possible that the Quarians are too busy fighting the Geth for their homeworld to contribute forces to the war with the Reapers - which is what the multiplayer is about.

My guess is 1. EA wanted the committee designed fangirl bait in there, thus, drell and 2. There's the possibility for jerkass players to let the quarians get wiped out during the single player campaign.
I like to think that the second scenario is open to every race out there. I mean, have you seen the turian husk? That thing is f**king creepy.
Like...Saren husk 3.0 on steroids.

I would more assume that those who disagree with Quole get added to the list. Considering some of his older posts I am honestly not that surprised.
And just so you know, I am a very pro-Quarian person. I have no issues with you being anti-Quarian; everyone has their own reasons for their own opinions and some, not looking at anyone in particular, cannot seem to grasp that simple concept.
On topic: I don't really mind if I don't get to play as a Quarian. I'd eagerly take a Drell or Turian if they were not avalible.

Yay, get to bring this link out again! It's been a while. Might want to add your own name to your list, guy.
More on topic, I imagine that the quarians will be in no position to supply much assistance to the war effort. They may have a large fleet, but most of the ships are old and stuffed with non-combatants.

Biotics are virtually unknown in the salarian military. Those with such abilities are considered too valuable to be used as cannon fodder and are assigned to the intelligence services.
So why are they letting us play as Salarian biotics?

Maybe the Salarian option is a member of the intelligence services?

That is true, but by that logic, why would female Krogan or Salarians fight?Upsettingshorts wrote...

I could imagine a female Krogan fighting, but because of how much they mean to their race I doubt one would openly go out to join a squad and fight for Hackett.
Same with female Salarians. I thought they stayed mostly to their core worlds for breeding.
But we must consider something else. I believe it was mentioned that you "unlock" a particular race in multiplayer once you have earned their allegiance in SP.
Perhaps in earning the Krogan allegiance females are no longer as endangered or protected (Genophage cure?) and therefore have no reason not to fight?
Perhaps something similar to that with Salarians?
With Quarians or Geth, it may be that there is no peaceful outlook to that conflict. Even if the conflict ended badly for the Quarians, not every single Quarian in the galaxy would die from it as pilgrims would probably no be in the 'kill zone.'
Geth I see as being unlikely as the outcome to that would almost certainly lead either to elimination (killed), assimilation (mega-hacked by Xen) or peace.

I find it very odd. I would have assumed that Quarians would be included because they are the only race besides humans with both male and female models. Unless Turian or Drell females are included then this means that there are far more male character options than female.
I've always felt that the Drell were sort of "chucked in" to the Mass Effect universe, with nothing said about them in Mass Effect 1, so I feel it's a shame if they have been included over the Quairans, who I see as one of the more "core" races in the game.
It's disapointing, but then I guess I didn't really plan on playing MP that much anyway.

I have yet to see a direct quote from BioWare saying all the available races. Other sources have claimed at a certain number, but the primary source for that information is almost always the same.EJ107 wrote...
Has it been confirmed somewhere that this is the case?
So no, it has not been confirmed that Quarians are not playable yet.
I was watching something on the making of ME2 and it mentioned that the Drell were created around Thane, whos original premise was to be a male alien that was a female love interest with an almost 'james bond' like feel.EJ107 wrote...

Thank you, I was thinking that it had been announced that they are not playable. I'm not going to hold my breath, but It would make me more likely to give MP a try if they are, so I can hope.

I personally feel that they should have just left it at the races they had ME1. I remember thinking in ME2 "who the hell are these guys and why have I not seen them before?" Their inclusion just felt a bit forced. I don't mind them as a race though.

Since the function as hands for the Hanar in a way, at least it makes sense that they might participate on behalf of the Hanar.

I'm going to agree with the ground combat thing. While there are Quarian marines like Kal-Reegar, the Quarians are A) insular andare ill-suited for ground combat because of the potential for contracting infections, etc. Furthermore, Quarians aren't really allies either. Every other race essentially views the Migrant Fleet as a pox, wanting them out of their systems ASAP when they do show up.They also lack representation on the Council as far as I know. Tali seems to be an unusual case.
