Drell over Quarians?

I would argue that the Quarians are the least insular, or that they should be. Generally, the rest of the galaxy is extremely insular towards them and their pilgramidge should make them far more understanding of other cultures than one might assume. But, being treated like crap throughout their pilgramidge could lead to a feeling of distrust and dislike towards other races, so I would say that they are not insular, just far more friendly and social towards their own species and tend to avoid contact with other races who they see as spiteful towards them.AtreiyaN7 wrote...
I'm going to agree with the ground combat thing. While there are Quarian marines like Kal-Reegar, the Quarians are A) insular andare ill-suited for ground combat because of the potential for contracting infections, etc. Furthermore, Quarians aren't really allies either. Every other race essentially views the Migrant Fleet as a pox, wanting them out of their systems ASAP when they do show up.They also lack representation on the Council as far as I know. Tali seems to be an unusual case.
I also have to agree on the Batarian thing - they're out enemies, not our allies. It doesn't seem logical to have them be a playable co-op race. Whatever your issues with Drell and Thane and how that all happened, they do serve and live with the Hanar. Since the function as hands for the Hanar in a way, at least it makes sense that they might participate on behalf of the Hanar.
Now they are ill suited for a stand up fight. Any puncture in their suit could lead to death so the only real armor they would be able to use is their shields. Now, I would argue that a Quarian as a tech/support combat class, one that is not necessarily on the front lines, but being nearby and assisting those who are by disrupting/stealing shields, hacking mechs, overloading electronics and the all important drone would be extremely useful.
Now I would see Quarians as being politically neutral towards Humans, but as a society more against them due to possible negative experiences on pilgramidges.
BioWare has stated that we will unlock a races playablility once we earn their allegiance in single player, so perhaps once we have made them allies it would be much more likely to have one playable.
Same goes for Batarians, although I have no idea how to mend that gap.
And I agree that the Drell may assist on behalf of the Hanar.

Fun fact: It was implied that Mordin was supposed to be a biotic at first, but then they removed it, probably because we already have like five biotics on the team.

Ahem, I would argue that the Quarians are pretty insular - they keep to themselves and their ships as much as possible. Short of their rite of passage into adulthood where they're supposed to go out and experience things, they pretty much seem to stick with their own kind. How many people ever visit their ships/fleet? Not many, other than Shepard (although you can count the Grayson incident). Hmm, if we unlock races based on the allegiance as indicated, that's interesting.
Oh, and I do agree that a Quarian's tech skills would be an asset like with Tali. I'm sure they'd be helpful on the engineering side of things if you hypothetically want to set up turrets or something if that were an option in co-op. I don't hate Quarians at all, unlike some of my friends. However, politically, they're kind a non-entity and aren't much of a factor on the galactic stage. They are, on the whole, treated pretty disrespectfully by other species most of the time it seems. But hey, who knows.I suppose ME3 could change things for them, especially if they regain their homeworld. Who knows what will happen!

Quarians won't last long in a firefight due to their weak immune system and besides the only Quarian that people will play in MP is Kal'Reegar who is the Quarian answer to Chuck Norris

Quarians suck in firefights (when not properly plot armored like Tali) and Batarians have a government that prohibits citizens from leaving their space besides the various batarian terroirst groups that is.Dasher1010 wrote...
Why did the devs give us drell instead of quarians for MP and only six races. Same goes for Batarians. There better be a VERY good plotline explanation for why both of these races aren't playable.
but then again, what are you gonna do not get the OPTIONAL content they give you?

WRONG!! The Batarians are not our Enemy... Why does everyone keep assuming they are the enmy?? Oh because "some" of them became terrorist... Wow good observation. Listen I'm not trying to be rude with you or anyone. But who ever thinks the Batarians are our enemy is pretty far off, and I fear for them when it comes to real life. "Hey look he's muslim so I should report him to the police" NO THAT'S JUST BEING RACIST!!
Sure they are not with the Alliance or the Citidel. BUT the Krogan aren't Either!!! and they have terrorist/ merc bands that kill humans. So are the Korgan our enemy as well??
Sorry Sorry... I know it's just a game. but give the Batarians a chance. I think they will make a great asset to helping us fight the reapers.
Same rule applies with the Geth. but I bet Bioware will just make them DLC options. Which I find very greedy of them to do. =____="

Because the Hegemony funds the slavers and terrorist to make the Verge not worth the trouble for the Alliance. When the Hegemony left the Council in protest of the Aliance officially getting the Verge, that's a pretty big sign someone is butthurt. The whole "Arrival" thing didn't help either.
EDIT: Weren't they targeted first by the Reapers anyway being the closest to Earth and the alpha relay being in Batarian space?

My guess is 1. EA wanted the committee designed fangirl bait in there, thus, drell and 2. There's the possibility for jerkass players to let the quarians get wiped out during the single player campaign.
Isn't that possible for almost every race? I know this hasn't been confirmed but at least drell should be possible to wipe out (I think). Also, there's only about 100 k drell left in existence, so why should it be possible for an infinite amount of players to play drell at the same time?
I'm not against drell or anything, just be part of the discussion here;P Also, hoping that we'll be able to play drell female. <3
