Getting a ton of rave reviews on Metacritic. Not surprising though, as Arkham Asylum was awesome. But this looks to be even better!

Will give my personal assessment once I pick it up on Tuesday. But for now, I thought I'd start this here thread.

Personally I don't get the appeal of this series. I played Arkham Asylum and it was pretty unremarkable in just about every way.

To each his own man. But I think you're doing the first game a disservice. It wasn't just a game that did Batman justice, but a great game in it's own right. A remarkable achievement.

Do you often find yourself disliking really great games?

I'm getting it on Tuesday, couldn't get enough of the first one so with the good reviews I'm probably not going to get anything else done till I beat it.

You mean really popular games ?   Great is subjective.

Not to take away the fact that it is a good game in it's own right but the fact that it finally did Batman justice was far more important.

I'm ticked off that the game got delayed on PC, but oh well, I can wait another month. The PC version should be the best, for those that can take advantage of all the extra features.

Well, there's only so many bad games one can make about Batman before he wills himself into existence and start punching game developers.

There's absolutely no reason for me to have B:AC on Consoles.

Nope. I often see people calling mediocre games great, though.

NON SPOILER VIDEO BELOW! No need to worry!

It's a challenge map featuring the 1970's Batman outfit.

Having played BAA I can say it's a surprisingly good game though obviously with its share of flaws. Here's a video for Arkham City I found, it's quite funny:

Some franchises become the darling among critics. I'm thinking 95 on Metacritic sounds suspicous for this very reason. But I spent like 130 hrs with Arkham Asylum, mostly in the challenge rooms, and thought it was a very fun game.

I didn't pre-order it but I will definetly get it. Even though I am not a hardcore Batman fan I did Love Arkham Asylum, it was one of the amazing and challenging games I've played. Looking forward to seeing some of those villains in AC like Penguin etc and Cat Woman

I'll get the PC version eventually when they release a GOTY with all the bonus content. Plus the PC version scheduled to come out 4 days after Skyrim so that's definitely out of the question.

Every time I read Arkham I read it like this(in russian):
Архам ! х is like ch in gemacht (german) ... I don't know if the English folk can pronounce it at all!

I might get this game, it is uncertain.

I often see people go to threads about a specific game and call is mediocre/bad/trash when they could have simply not clicked on the title.

I will agree that Arkham Asylum was lacking a bit in the gameplay perspective over all, though I loved pulling off combos... My favorite part was the story and how Poison Ivy was incorporated into it, and let's not forget that Ashley's voice actress from Mass Effect voiced Barbra Gordon.

Also, the fact that the original voice actor for Batman and The Joker returned for the game was awesome.

I just read the GameInformer review and the info the give is better than I anticipated.

They mentioned the Riddler challenges and they say there's 440 of them, 440!

There's New Game +! The way they describe it, it sounds like a combination between Dark Souls where you keep everything in your arsenal and Ninja Gaiden II on higher difficulties with different assortments of enemies than when you first went through the game.

They also have a 12 minute gameplay video, but there's a couple things Batman and Catwoman say that they distort, sounds like they are saying gibberish, to cover up "spoilers". And if you're the kind that don't want to know anything before you play it, don't watch the video. Simple. Also from the video, the camera angles on Two-Face are great and they show off some of the swooping, which we all know is bad, which looks very much improved, you can even do nose dives toward the ground and then resume gliding.

I wish the initial rumors of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn voicing Catwoman were true, but Grey Delisle lends her voice well nonetheless.

Waiting eagerly for the PC version, so I'm on media blackout to avoid coming spoilers.

Could get it for PS3 I guess, but the superior graphics will be worth the wait and I actually felt really comfortable with the kb&m controls in AA.
