I was too lazy to check each and every engi-related thread, but I was wondering, which henchman do you prefer?
Guess my next run will be the shotgun as well, videos looking awesome and currently just 'found' my old shepard engi, which I still have to finish, but 'she' has AR training so sticking with more melee for the next one is the only option

Since my Engineer doesn't have more than the required points in Overload I'm quite reliant on Garrus, so he stays most of the time. This way I get to use Neural Shockwave at the start of any fight which makes it a lot easier. A Second squadmate with Area Overload allows for two Neural Shockwaves.
Tali is also quite good since you get an extra drone on the field. (In case that there's more than one Elite out there.)
Mordin doesn't get any time in the limelight when I'm an Engineer. Very sad.

Edit: Ah, the wonders of copy pasting.
Engineer:Shotguns. Several playthroughs.
2 - Overload. Never use it.
4 - Incineration Blast. Firedance.
4 - Attack drone. That little bugger only dies against YMIR's for me, no need for the explosive version. That, and the explosion is a stagger, not a knockdown.
3 - Cryo Blast. For mechs
0 - AI Hacking
4 - Mechanic Duration for my bonus power
4 - Neural Shockwave This power is Cryo on steroids. The tech version of pull-field in utility.
Neural Shockwave and Drone are my most used powers. Paired with Garrus this build takes care of any regular mission. Mordin gets the Bloodpack missions, and warping squadmates get the collector missions. I cater my playstyle around locking down elites with the Combat Drone, stripping the defenses of mooks with squadmate powers and then I use Neural Shockwave for great justice. Then it's just going in and cleaning up with the shotgun.
