If we're cleansing the forum of trolls, we'd better start with this guy.

If could play FNV on my PS3, I'd vote for it. But I can't because of the many lags and glitches. So I voted DA2. It was this or nothing.

Cut it out with the massive quote trees. And Versago and seraphymon, just accept that neither of you will convince the other and step away.

Skyrim looks epic, but will it beat DA II as best fantasy RPG? Chances are it won't, but you never know...

Considering everything else has pretty much beaten DA2, with hardly even trying, id say it would be pretty shocking that Skyrim ends up being bad.

Only game that really beats DA II is ME 2.

The only WRPGs that really beat Dragon Fail 2 are ME1, ME2, KOTOR, KOTOR2, DAO, Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, The Witcher, The Witcher 2, Oblivion, Morrowind, Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Alpha Protocol, Fable: The Lost Chapters, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights 2, Jade Empire ... I'm sure I'll think of a few more in a while

Yeah, I'll be voting for New Vegas

Ditto.

EDIT: I would've supported StarCraft 2 as an RPG, considering what can count as an RPG these days. :)

That was the hard one.  Ultimate Game of the Year.  I was down between Starcraft 2, Portal 2 and Fallout New Vegas.

Once I thought about it, not that tough a call - Starcraft 2 - but I sure did love me some Portal 2 and Fallout New Vegas, and both show HOW games of their genre can be made.

Starcraft 2 just improved on an already great formula.  Can't knock it.

EDIT 2:  At some point, when I get back to The Witcher and finish it and then FINALLY crack open my (okay, it's digital, so cracking open figuratively speaking) copy of The Witcher 2 I may be eating my votes. :)

Of those games you listed only ME 2 is better than DA II. Yep.

To compare and contrast upon the contenders for a moment:

The Witcher 2: Absolutely stunning visuals, an awesome story, and gameplay that slaps you repeatedly if you aren't paying attention. With a stick. Oh, and the scene with Trish in the hot spring... :o

New Vegas: My pick. New Vegas is like Fallout 3 done over, but with all the stupid taken out and replaced with bugs that got stamped out slowly in patches. That is to say, it oozes awesome for every pore -now-, but at launch it borderlined on unplayable. It has a solid story with choices that actually matter, some of the most realistically dubious grey choices I've ever seen in gaming (better than Origins, I daresay, and I loved the hell out of Origins), and everything that made Fallout 3 awesome in the first place.

To be honest, -this- is how Dragon Age 2 should have been built. They already had an engine, skip the art redesign and use the entire development cycle fleshing out -content-.

Dragon Age 2: I don't want to seem like an outright hater, because the game was more disappointingly mediocre and bland than outright terrible, but it does -not- have a place on this list.
